Ebubu: The dangerous thing about this strategy is that if PDP succeeds with defeating APC with a northerner, when PDP would want to field a southerner APC will adopt this very same strategy to field a northerner. Then the cycle continues perpetually. People from the south who are celebrating it don’t see the long term danger of this strategy Instead Tinubu will become president, let the north rule forever. Tinubu and his army of brainless urchins should have thought about that when he entered into an alliance that took out a southerner from power. Tinubu will never benefit from that betrayal of his. NEVER. |

But if you read well, you would have noticed the caveat that the post was based on the assumption that PDP would zone its presidency to the South. But now that its zoning committee has recommended throwing the ticket open, the permutations will have to change accordingly. Meanwhile, who do you think northern delegates will vote for between Wike and Peter Obi if PDP had zoned to south? |

I don't even think there will b any inec office still standing in igbo land by 2023 cos it would have been burnt down by then.

Politics › What Do You Think About A Repeat Of The Atiku/Obi Ticket In 2023? by Penguin2(op): 8:00pm On Apr 05, 2022 |
In 2019, Atiku pulled a masterstroke by choosing Mr Peter Obi as his running mate in the presidential race. It was a move that hugely brightened his chances as Mr Peter Obi is not only popular among business community but also hugely popular among the youths.
The duo went on to give APC a run for their money even with Buhari who is considered popular as its candidate as well as some act of sabotage by some PDP stakeholders in the south who felt smitten by the choice of Peter Obi, arguing that they were not consulted.
So, considering their strong showing at the polls in 2019, and considering also that Buhari will not be on the ballot again in 2023, does it not make sense for PDP to repeat the Atiku/Obi ticket in the 2023 presidential election?
If anything, a lot of Nigerians identified with the duo and hoped they won. Some people still argues they won election but APC manufactured votes from troubled Yobe and Borno to swell their votes and get declared by INEC.
So what do you think? Should PDP repeat the Atiku/Obi ticket or is their another alliance/pairing that you think would be stronger?

With the Likes of Atiku in the race, it’s not likely that PDP will zone the presidency to south alone.
I know APC urchins are waiting for PDP to zone south so that a weak candidate can get the ticket and make victory easy for them but they have failed.
Atiku is getting the ticket again.

Indispensable85: Firstly my comment was not on the post but a direct response to the politically ignorant fellow that mentioned me in a manner I didn't like.
Now to your comment,I can tell you for free that even if the pdp decided to zone the ticket, they won't bar anyone from contesting. Well they don't have that constitutional powers anyway. Most likely they're going to leave the contest open in other to play safe and not hurt any of the aspirants.
Even if it's zoned to the south, there's no way on earth a Peter obi can defeat Wike in the primary of the pdp. Even in the southeast, Wike will have more delegates on his side. He's far more influential than obi in the pdp.
On general appeal, I don't see much difference between peter obi and wike. The both of them are hugely popular in the south but will be thrashed mercilessly in the north. The party erroneously allowed kwankwaso to leave. I don't know who they're relying on in the north to help them galvanize votes in the region.
Peter obi no doubt is one of the best brains in this contest but the political reality is that he just doesn't have what it takes to get his party ticket and win the presidential election.
The pdp don't have any southerner that can match up to Tinubu. Their best chance in this race is Atiku. That's the bitter truth. He's the only one with the kind of political network Tinubu has in the country. Atiku is PDP’s best bet for 2023, I agree. And in extension, a repeat of the Atiku/Obi Ticket will be the masterstroke that PDP needs to floor any candidate APC will present. But supposing the southern elements succeed in getting the PDP to zone its ticket to south, who do you think northern delegates will vote for at the primaries considering that Wike was a thorn on their flesh? |

Indispensable85: It's only a fool with a brain tumor like you that will compare the local champion called peter obi who's not known beyond Anambra with a seasoned politician like Atiku. Even in Anambra nobody supported by Peter obi has won any election since he left as governor.
Wike has the endorsement and firm backing of majority of the governors from the south and Ortom of Benue State. Atiku has the backing of majority of the northern delegates and some southern elements. What does peter obi have?
Wike and Atiku clearly are the two contenders for the pdp ticket. It takes a brainless clown like you to argue otherwise. Both gladiators have been meeting those that matter in the party ahead of the primary. Where's your peter obi? You think this is a child's play? You're a big fool. Does peter obi have the financial muscle to buy delegates like Wike and Atiku? You think it's a cheap game? You're a certified dunce.
By the way Atiku won his state Adamawa in the last presidential election. Mumu try to read before coming to disgrace yourself and family in a public forum like this.
And try to stay away from people like us because we're intolerant to dullards and political ignoramus like you. You know you can make your point without calling him a fool right? Meanwhile, you do have a point about the strength of Atiku and Wike in PDP which cannot clearly be compared to that of Peter Obi in PDP; but if you read this post well, you would have noticed it has a caveat. The caveat is ‘supposing PDP zones its ticket to south’ and there’s no Atiku to contest the PDP ticket. Now, we could concede that Wike is popular within PDP but that’s not the subject matter here. The subject matter is with whom is PDP’s chances brighter when it comes to the generality of the electorates? |

Politics › Peter Obi Or Wike: Who Will Be A Better Candidate For PDP In 2023? by Penguin2(op): 7:50pm On Apr 04, 2022 |
Supposing PDP eventually zones its ticket to south, I’m of the thinking that the two strongest contenders would be Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and former Governor of Anambra, Mr Peter Obi.
Now, while Wike seems to be popular among party stakeholders, his popularity outside the PDP is very much doubtful. Peter Obi on the other hand, might not be as popular within PDP stakeholders for obvious reasons, but his popularity within the electorates is not in doubt.
With Peter Obi, PDP is assured of victory in SE and SS and about 30 percent of votes from the Southwest, depending on who APC candidate is. But Wike cannot even boast of winning SS for PDP not to talk of SE and SW.
Up north, both Wike and Peter Obi are not popular up there but I think Wike’s image is more damaged in the north than Peter Obi’s. So with a strong running mate, Peter Obi is most likely to win the NC, and garner considerable votes in NW and NE, especially if Atiku throws his support behind him.
So there you have it….
Who do you think would be PDP’s better choice between Peter Obi and Wike?
Worthy Mention: Anyim Pius Anyim ( the dark horse).
