Akpakomiza2: The Igbo community in Igbanke of Orhionmwon local government area of Edo State has pledged to support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State’s governorship race, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
LEADERSHIP reports that the Edo State governorship election is slated for Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The community, which sought the development of their area, said it would solidly support the aspiration of Okpebholo.
Dr. Emeka Maduka, one of the leaders of the Igbanke people and the Igbo settlers in the state, decried the abandonment of their community.
He noted the need for an inclusive and good governance in the state.
Speaking during a campaign rally in the area, the community expressed their full support for Okpebholo, citing their dissatisfaction with the current administration and its unfilled promises.
The community lamented that the promises made to them by past leaders were never fulfilled, leaving the community in a state of neglect and underdevelopment.
At the rally, the APC governorship candidate Okpebholo pledged to address their concerns and deliver on the infrastructure projects that have been long overdue in Igbanke.
Okpebholo assured the gathering that, if elected governor, he would prioritise the construction of roads and provide other essential services in the area, which have been ignored for far too long. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://leadership.ng/edo-guber-igbo-community-endorses-okpebholo/&ved=2ahUKEwjZ6sCIkpKIAxWQQkEAHcYQMB0QFnoECCIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3mIu2wt-eRRQnVvgiSHnO0

ShinnBet: And why is it a hot topic for you guys ?
Last I checked you are not from Delta north and here you are demanding they key into joining SE region.
You should tell us why Anioma state creation and it's yoking to the SE is beneficial to Anioma people.
Where they in any way oppressed in Delta state ? Asaba is the capital of Delta state and enjoyed a lot of investment by the state govt. Investment that came from resources in the south.
The rotational system in place has seen them have a governor. So they can't say they have been cheated.
If for some reason they want to be on their own,I and ever other Deltan is very ok with their choice.
The only qualms I have is why it is now an Ibo agenda to see to Anioma joining the SE geopolitcal region ?
Why? If you knew history even a little bit, you would know that the clamour for the return of Anioma to the rest of their Igbo brothers started as far back as the 1960s when Dennis Osadebey, an Anioma man, was the Premier of Midwest Region comprising of Delta and Benin. Again, who sponsored the bill for the creation of Anioma State and its reunification with Southeast? Was it an Anambra man or Ebonyi man? Why do you people like to bend truth? |

ShinnBet: If there's any sense left in that Delta north , they should ask themselves why the entire SE is salivating about the creation of Anioma and it being lumped to the SE region.
These people carry your Anioma state matter for head pass their own state.
In as much as I am not and will never be opposed to Anioma state creation as I see places like Asaba as long lost due to the ever growing changing demography that will surely upset the already peaceful balance we have in Delta state. I also don't want my state capital to be overrun by invaders. It's for this reason I want Anioma to be created. You sold your lands to them , now you have to live with them.
But what I should ask you is why are these people so hell bent on making your future state part of the SE?
For reference, I urge you to go and read on the memoirs and accounts of Maj. Gen David Ejoor when he served as Governor of the Midwest .
There are a lot your people can learn from the past. You still didn’t say anything. All this long epistle, you would used it to itemize what Anioma people stand to lose by joining Southeast. Is it their land? If yes, can you cite any instances of where Igbos have bought land in vast majority and ended up starting to cause problems for the native? |
Politics › What Would Anioma Lose Joining Southeast? by Penguin2(op): 8:45pm On Aug 24, 2024*. Modified: 9:00pm On Aug 24, 2024 |
With Senator Ned Nwoko bringing the Anioma and Igbo discuss to the front burner again when he sponsored a Bill for the creation of Anioma State and for it to be joined to Southeast, a lot of people who don’t know where Anioma is on Nigeria’s map have become more Anioma than Anioma people and telling Anioma people to refuse such from happening.
Granted that there are native Anioma people who are opposed to the idea of joining Southeast region and be fully recognized as Igbos, but trust me when I say that they are just countable minority.
The vast majority of Anioma sons and daughters do not have a problem with Anioma joining Southeast; this much has been attested to by Izu Anioma in the communiqué they issued on 22nd of August, 2024.
But for those opposed to the idea I want to ask, what do Anioma people stand to lose by joining Southeast?
Is it crude oil and gas resources? Southeast has that in abundance in Imo, Abia and Anambra.
Is it identity? Trust me, the rest of Nigeria, and even the world, sees Anioma people as Igbos. Everyone knows they are Igbos. The only people who don’t know that Aniomas are Igbos are the few Anioma people who swallowed and have believed the lies and propaganda that started to be propagated since after the Biafran War in 1970.
What else?
To an Anioma man I ask, will the West protect your interest in Nigeria more than your Igbo brother?
Or will the North be a better ally to you than the Igbos?
Or can you negotiate for what is due to you alone without allies?
How much can you achieve as a lone voice in Nigeria compared to when you move in solidarity of the entire Southeast region?
What does Anioma stand to lose in joining Southeast? |

Only haters from outside will be doing divide and conquer . You know I think after they issued their first communiqué which Agbado people used to masturbate, somebody called them, sat them down and talked sense into their head. The question is simple, who will best protect the interest of an Anioma man? Will the Yoruba or Hausa man wish Anioma land more goodwill than the Igbo man? Who be Anioma ally if the leaders of Izu Anioma damages the goodwill that Anioma has with the rest of Igbos with the kind of stupid statement they issued the last time? Will the Yorubas or Hausas be better allies to Anioma than Igbos? If Igbos are provoked and they refuse to back Anioma State creation with their numbers and influence, where will Anioma people see the numbers to push through the agitation for the creation of Anioma State? The truth is simple, Anioma has everything to gain, and nothing to lose, joining their brothers across the Niger.
They have absolutely nothing to lose! And I’m sure this much has been banged into their skull which is why they issued this rejoinder. Because if they do anyhow, Southeast Senators and Rep Members will simply come together and support either Etiti State or Adada State. Let Anioma people push for their own state by themselves alone since they think they are okay for themselves the way they are. There’s a reason the Giant of Africa that they call us has undisputedly stuck with Nigeria 🇳🇬 over the years till tomorrow.
And it’s good to see that even a machine knows that much to be true.
I like the way the AI provided its answers; it gave realistic projections but they are dependent upon how well the country is governed from now till 2100.
The truth is simple, it’s what somebody like Peter Obi has been singing like music.
Nigeria’s problem is leadership problem. It’s successive choice of terrible leaders that keeping the giant in Nigeria from full actualization.
Just imagine we had a president who is not interested in importing fuel from Malta 🇲🇹 so he can pay himself subsidy, and he supports Dangote Refinery, and other emerging local refineries, all the support they need, in two years, we will not only have local sufficiency but be exporting to the rest of Africa and the world. That would bring us a lot of dollars, stabilize the Naira and the economy.
Just imagine we didn’t have a president who is interested in buying new presidential jet for over $100million and using another $50million to configure it, and he invests that money into youth development programs like empowering SMEs, MSMEs and into impacting the youths with digital skills like Machine Learning, Robotics, Sotware Development, Data Analysis, etc, in 2 to 5 years, we will be going shadow to shadow with Indians when it comes to technology.
With a good president, our institutions will be strengthened.
He will make it impossible to add or subtract even one vote 🗳 from electoral contests.
Wives, children and relatives of politicians will stop getting appointed, with reckless abandon, into the judiciary. That arm of government will be cleansed with rigorous and stringent procedures of appointment as a judge that will only be passed by firebrand lawyers who know their mettle. And not ijiots whose only qualification is being a politician’s wife, children or deek sucker.
Tell me how me how Nigeria will remain a mess when all these, and more, are done?
That’s why we should all support Peter Obi in 2027. |

Tbasicme: The op may have his bias. However he is objective. The truth is if this happens from a state in South East, the bashing will be more than this forgetting that people in South east will condemn such act. True
Politics aside, South east is passing through a lot, same as north. What we all want is peace and geniune fairness and justice.
All the agitation we have in this country is as a result of bad governance. Past adminstration starting from 1999 even before 1999 has failed woefully. If things are right in the first place there won't be need for Agitation.
See south south the killing of the Ken Sarowiwa, The rise of MEND, MASSÖB and so on. The rise of bôkô haram in the north, rise of the Bandit (térrôrîst) and so on. Some were given amnesty while others killed. It's about justice and fairness my brother. Unfortunately too many people have died. How many much more deaths will it take us all to know that too many people have died trying to fight for what they think is right to them while to others it's wrong. May God help us all Add the fact that some Nigerians have consistently voted the wrong people to lead the country because they don’t want the right candidate from a certain region they like to hate to rule Nigeria.
