Falya'budu Rabba adha-l- bayt- (Surat Quraish- 3). " So let them worship(Allah) the Lord of this House(Ka'abah'. As dignified as the Ka'abah is,Allah directs us to worship Him,not it. By inference,as blessed and glorified as Ramadhan is,we should not be muslims cos of Ramadhan or only in the month but we should worship Allah (always), the Originator of ramadhan. Ramadhan will come and go,but Allah goes no where. LET US BE MUSLIMS!--- @OP,JazaakaLlahu khayr. 1 Like |

One wishes that our tolerance of each other's religion can just be like our attitude towards the holidays. Whether it has to do with your faith or not, everyone is glad at the behest of holidays. It may not be your turn to kill ram or slaughter broiler but it may be the needed pandorax box; a time to rest, travel, vist friends and relative or even a time to simply settle your political scores on NL. No one cares which religion prompts the holiday. We are all united when it comes to this. Everyone gains. With tolerance,I think we all can be gainers while remaining divisive along our faiths. Eid-ul-Sa-eed to all faithfuls. 1 Like |

This government is only innovative in borrowing, mismanagement of funds and masquerading their gross ineptitude with caricature projects. No fiscal discipline, no accountability. Another Greek experience in the offing.... It was said that the VP went on Lesser Hajj. It was said that him and his team prayed for Nigeria while at Hajj. Now, they are meeting the IDB for loan while performing the rites. While it is not abhorred to do all these, it should be noted that this does not guarantee success. What will bring positive change to our life as a Nation is changing our corrupt and deceptive mentality and exhort virtues in all fabrics of our existence. God will not change the fortunes of a people for better unless they change that which the habour in their hearts. 1 Like |

Meritbaba: What if the intercourse was with one's wife?Intercourse with ones wife is not a sin as long as it is not in the day of Ramadhan. There is no sin, hence no expiation, involved with lawful cohabitation in the night. Doing that while fasting nullifies the fast and it's expiation is sincere repentance with- (1) Free a slave. OR (2) Fasting two consecutive months. OR (3) Feeding 60 poor people. The expiation is to be observed in this sequence. If the conjugal affair is mutual, both the man and woman involved must expiate. If the woman was coerced, against her will and after resistance, the onus is only on the man. In both cases, that single day of fasting missed will also be observed by both. Allah knows best. 1 Like |

lincolnj88: Hmmmm GOD FORBID BAD THING.......so even shekau will be forgiven all his plenty attrocities without reconcilliation jst because he fasted......all bh,al qaeda, taliban, hezbollah members will all hav dier si forgiven also because dey fasted......pls b moral and wise up So u see how insensible to claim that a cross made of wood and a human blood with heamoglobin and platelets washes off the sins of people. How unthinkable! The correct perspective about ur question is that "Fasting washes off all previous sins that are regarded as minor sins and that does not involve retribution such as eye for eye and a soul for a soul. For such sins that involves the right of others like unjust killing, eating the wealth of orphans, stealing public funds, consumming interest, adultery ;the law must take its course. Sincere repentance is needed for all the above and it is incomplete without returning the right of others and others involves getting justice for the wronged in terms of prosecution, retaliation and retribution. It is a vast branch of knowledge to whom few have been given. Manslaughter( killing by mistake) attracts paying blood money and also fasting for two consecutive months without break. This is to serve as atonement and deterrent. That is not the case for Murder.Unjust and deliberate killing a believer is tantamount to disbelief. Allah says-" And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell to abide therein, and the Wrath and Curse of Allah are upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him" Q 4 vs 93. Islam makes things clear. Any other thing people worship are idols. 5 Likes |

saly kely: Salam, what d kafara for an illicit act committed after breaking d fast?Kaffarah is only related to those set-limits transgressed between dawn and dusk of ramadhan. Tawbah( sincere repentance) and a firm resolution not to return to sinful ways is what is needed to atone (kafarah) for such sins like this when committed in other months outside ramadhan and in the night of ramadhan. And know, oh beloved brother!, that Allaah forgives all sins except idolatory. When we feel remorseful about our sins,we avoid basking in the euphoria of committing such sins; then we stand a good chance to be pardoned by Allah and such black records wiped out and turned to good deeds. Also follow up such bad deeds with goods ones like reading Quran, seeking laylatul Qadri, zakat-l-fitri and praying the eid nawafil. Good deeds wipe off bad ones! Allahu Akbar Allaah says- " And those who, when they have committed illegal intercouse or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allaah and ask forgiveness for their sins-and none can forgive sins but Allaah-and do not persist in evil they have done, while they know. For such, the reward is Forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens which rivers flowing underneath, wherein they shall abide forever. How excellent is this reward for the doers of good" Q 3 vs 135-136. We pray Allaah to strenghten us and give us strong-will over our iniquities. Ibn qayim say" if you knew the true worthy of yourself, you will not allow yourself to be humiliated by committing sins" 4 Likes |

olasha1: pls i hav the following question to ask Intercourse is only between lawfully married partners. It's abhorrent to keep a girl-friend talkless of having canal knowledge of her. This is a sin. And the worst of sins are those blatantly committed in Ramadhan, be it its day or night. So everything is wrong with cuddling, staying in privacy with a girl not related to you by blood or by fostering. The honourable messenger said" Inni La usoolii Nisaa"- I do not shake woman. It is better to grasp a burning coal or melting iron than to rub thighs with a stranger(girl-friend). He said" it is better to cuddle a pig than to have a close shave with a non-related woman" Allah says in Suraltul Maidah-" And do not commit illegal sexual intercourse, nor taking them as girl-frieds." - Q 5 vs 5. Deliberately ommitting Sahur is makhroo. There is blessing in eating the pre-dawn meal,so why 80% abstinence. This is age-long sunnah of the noble messenger. He only exemplified all thing good and pure. Whatever he gives,we take. Whatever he forbade,we abstain from it. May Allaah, distance us from His wrath! 12 Likes |

Islam for Muslims / Re: Zakaat Al-fitr (the Personal Obligatory Charity) by PENMIGHT(m): 5:48pm On Aug 01, 2013 |
deols: I held your opinion until I know the role of delegating someone to perform an obligation on your behalf. It is one thing that the parent pays it cos he has "always done it" and a muslim who have a means to do that decided to stay off an obligation while he has not transfered his consent to a trustee. I say that the student is obligated to give the Zakat-l fitri except his consent is sought and gotten. My father does this yearly not believing he is helping me with an obligation but cos that is the customary practice. And guess what he uses- 'kongo ijoba'. Does that equate to a sa'a?. And with what intention? The scholars were asked about aqiqa(slaughtering an animal for a new born) in the west where it is not comfortable to do so. They said it is the obligation upon the father and that can only be lifted if he send his money to a trustee outside the west to slaughter on his behalf or his consent his sought and gotten to do so on his behalf. Let the student fufill the obligation if he has the means and let the father's be mustahaab. Remember, it was made obligatory upon him (the student) just like it is made obligatory upon the father. Some students are not even fended for by their parents anymore which makes the obligation lifted from the father totally. Allaah is the source of Guidance! |

The General: As salaam alaykum, It may be too preemptive of you, my brother, to JUDGE it to be "WRONG". The question arises that "upon whom is the Zakat-l-fitri obligatory? It is obligatory upon "any MUSLIM who have the FINANCIAL MEANS TO DO SO. The Fard status of this is not waived because you are student or not. The father of the student is giving one sa'a because he has to pay it upon those who are dependant on him while the student pays if he has reached the age of discernment,is not poor or needy and have the Financial means as a MUSLIM who has fasted and needs to be purified too. Some students are richer than their fathers! Shayk ibn Baaz opined that is compulsory upon the husband to give a sa'a on behalf of the wife even the wife has means to do so. The scholars also says it is birr-al walidayn(kindness to parent) not to stop our father to give on our behalf even if we 've the means to do it for ourselves. However if the student's consent is sought by his father or the student( knowing that this is obligatory upon him) 'INSTRUCT' or 'DELEGATE' his father or anyone to give on his behalf, then he has fufilled this obligation. Allaah knows and we do not know. 1 Like |
