WHO IS ALLAAH? Answer this question appropriately and i will determine whether u worth my time or not.
Feel free to ask Google!.
usermane:
Many questions as she asked only lead into truth and clarification. Unless you find these questions trivial or mundane as the questions of the isrealites in 2:67-73, then suck it up.

Knock it off, playing it down by shouting "ALLAAH" when tasked with reconciling your controversial doctrines with morality has also been the way of even disbelievers in ages.
Quran 7:28
And when they commit an immorality, they say, "We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has ordered us to do it." Say, "Indeed, Allah does not order immorality. Do you say about Allah that which you do not know?"

It 's simple, the problem here may not be satan 's whisper. It could be that you religious texts are afterall not divine or you are misinterpreting them.

As salaam alaykum Dearest believers,
Firstly@ Deols, Read this verse: O ye who believe, seek Allah's help in PATIENCE AND SALAT. THIS WILL SURELY BE HARD EXCEPT ON THE ONE WHO TRULY FEARS ALLAAH.
Sister Deols, the help u sought is not here. BE PATIENT AT THIS TIME OF YOURS AND SEEK ALLAH'S HELP AGAINST
THE SHAITAN.

Too many questions will only herald in more confusions and will open more doors of doubts. The previous Nations were destroyed by this.

They actually justified it thinking they were seeking guidance, but that was a path-of-no-return.

I ve read through most post trying to rationalise so many issues. It has even taken a dangerous dimension where some utterances are capable of taking someone outside the pale of Islam. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!!

From the Evil of Polygamy to the Jealousy of Aisha , and to the injustices of given VVF to the girl child and to the preference of monogamy in Jannah and questioning whether Allaah is a male or female, all these efforts at rational explanations like we are doing back and forth will only lead us farther from the truth. THE TRUTH IS - "ALLAAH KNOWS, AND WE DO NOT KNOW". Islam is not irrational but Islam is not based on rationale.

The Shaitan beleievd in Allaah and yet his " big brain" cannot comprehend a "simple matter", and so he fell.

Lastly@ Deols, u might have a noble intention but lack thecapability to control the mindset of a man who will use this medium to bring to fore his annoyances against his Creator and His injunctions. Watch it, lest people will see in you a bad precedence.

" If you ask them (about this), they declare: "We were only talking idly and joking." Say: "Was it at Allah, and His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger (SAW) that you were mocking?"

Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after you had believed. If We pardon some of you, We will punish others amongst you because they were Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.). QURAN 9 :65-66.r

I quite agree with you sir. I am still a neophyte and i have learnt some bitter lessons.I could have taken some better decisions if i had been more exposed.
Definitely, the morrow holds better decison making.

Best wishes to u too.
igbonla:

I think the other type is actually better, it cost more and is additional work to construct for carpenters. It keeps the wind and rainwater in check better than the type you have and also provides better air circulation.
You may want to investigate this for future consideration, you are doing an awesome job/investment with the farm.

OH! Now, i got what u meant! The roof design is just one of the 2 options i ve seen(for poultry). The other is still a pitched roof with a somewhat raised cap to allow vents along the roof axis.
This type seems common , and perhaps better, than the one in the pics.
My carpenter prefers the one in the pics as it seems slightly cheaper and less cumbersome to maitain.

I wouldnt advice the common roof for the regular buildings

igbonla:

I meant to talk about the design of the roof, not the material.

Thanks for the pieces of advice. I ve no plan of expansion for now. Even if i want to, where is d finances? Though my farm is slightly remote than others, it is not outrightly isolated. Many other farms , like my friend's, is within stone throw and and they cant even keep up with the demands for eggs. Besides, i am planning on having a farm shop in town.

Please, around what time of the year is the glut period? Do u ve a cheap way of getting the cages? With ur experiences and contacts, can u please help in any way possible to solve the cage issue? I will be appreciative!
My manager has been very dedicated so far. He is young and experienced in his own little way. I am developing a brotherly relationship with him and try my best to make the package worth his effort and also make life comfortable as much as possible. He resides in d farm permanently except there is a need to leave and that must be done on permission. I also adopt some check and balances monitoring approach. So far, so good.
I also ensure vet personnel visit regularly.
The birds are doing pretty well for now. I pray disaster does not set in.
Where is ur farm, wouldnt mind visiting to learn more from ur wealth of exposure.

Thanks.

femu:

Definitely at 12 weeks they should be in the cage to avoid risks of Coccidiosis. Cost of cages is definitely another factor....look for someone that can supply you on credit since you will acquire in bulk.
At this level your key challenge will be human resources. They will determine your success. Hope you have a good vet and a good manager(impossible)?
Siting far in the bush might expose you to egg glut...except you have to push your eggs to town. Some big farms do bury eggs during glut...beware!!!
My advice is just restrict yourself to this for now. let the farm grow itself from what you have invested now!
My advice for you is to

It wasnt hard for you to decipher many things about me and d farm just by mere reading my post. U were very, very right about the mentor part. A friend i refered to earlier has been more than a mentor. He has been into poultry for a long time and i needed no extra tutelage having him around me. Everything i ve done, step by step, was supervised by him. He gave his all.

Just like u, his bird should be approximately 12k. What else do i need, my brother. My finances fluctuates and my friend has warned me about venturing into poultry without a vivid plan of feeding them. He scared me to the marrow when i see how much his birds consumes in monetary terms.

My bro, that was why i 'hurriedly' put up d feedmill while i still had d finances. I ve paid for 1 tonnage size milling machine (430k discounted price) and i ve equally paid for the 40kva gen (450k) and both d generator and main mill houses should be finanly completed in a matter of days, God willing.
My birds are still young and ds is d time i can make hay while d sun shines. For those who think i am being uncareful of my expences at this stage, they should understand where i am heading to. All in all, the feed mill should be in the tune of 2m +.

Lest i forget, the feed mill is big in size and of good height. It can accomodate up to 2 trailers of maize and soybean combined. What else could i wish for as a starter?.

As u rightly mentioned, the cage is my next target. I want to pay for it well before the birds will be matured enough o be moved into it. I think the birds could be moved in by 12 weeks. Hope i am right sha? Please enlighten me more. I heard d cages with instalattion of nippl.es and other plumbing needs will gulp close to 1.8m. I am having headache already!!!.

Your type are motivator. I was delighted someone could read through my mind. I pray u stop outsourcing ur feed soon. More and more success to u bro.

femu: @ Penmight

I admire your speed and courage...you definitely have a big setup in mind. Am sure you must have practiced poultry before or have some big poultry mentors to guide you. Your next set of expenses will definitely be poultry cages and a store to keep tons of maize and soya.
I have about 9000 birds now and currently outsourcing my milling, I intend to self-mill only when i can utilise a trailer of maize and soya in 5 weeks
I hope a financially committed stakeholder will be managing it all on your behalf. Goodluck

You may be right about the depth of my expenditure at this phase but one thing that is certain is that they are once-in-a-lifetime spending. I am , and will still be, more watchful though. Thanks for the advise.

I am not a politician, i am an architect.

The roof u noticed is asbestors. I bought fairly used ones. Asbestors allows reduced heat into the pen. This is better for the birds than zinc or alumnium roof.

The way the roof is done also allow ease of hot air dissipation from d pen.

igbonla: grin

You are spending so much money in starting out, I agree with your friend. Please go easy with the infrastructure, at least for the start up phase. Abi you be politician?

Is there any reason you use this kind of roofing for the pen?

Confusion normally preceeds conviction and most successful people have once experienced sleeplessness like this. Prosperity is close to a man who learns from the strenght and weaknesses of others. So, normally u should succed where i have faltered. Such is life!

There is a secret that must be told. No amount of land is sufficient for a farmer. You can only start somewhere. Here is a fact:

Most sizeable pen will almost occupy a whole plot of land. I am an architect and this is gospel.
So if u plan to start with a pen of about 3000 to 4000 in cage eventually, u need at least 2 plots of land. A plot for pen and other services squeezed into the other. However, the bigger the better.

I dont know of Ilorin o, but I am sure u will do better leaving the city for the bush or outskirt if u are prepared for this journey.
I am a native of Ibadan but I reside in Abuja with my family. Infact, I am writing from abuja ,however, i believed in doing the best and i moved to ibadan. Not even the core, but d outskirt of Ibadan. Ibadan is the center of Poultry biz in the whole of southwest.

So bro, if u must stay in Ilorin , find a place where building dev will not reach in about 5 years minimum.

This is important so that the resident will not frustrate u into untimely relocation. Protect and insure ur investment.....head for the bush, plsssss.

naughtylagosguy:

Wow. I'm so impressed with your dreams and aspirations for your farm and I pray God Almighty give you the strength and wisdom to achieve them.

It is because of this reasons that I visit Nairaland's Agriculture section so as to be inspired to act very fast on realizing my dreams of owing my farm too.

Agriculture (most especially poultry) has been a childhood dream for me. I raised some chickens when I was in school just to test ground and I'm willing to go commercial.
I want to combine layers and broilers production together, don't know if this is a good idea though.

My main problem is getting cheap land in my environment (Ilorin) and also I don't know how many acres of land will be ideal for this venture.

I will follow you and I hope to learn more from you.

Wish u success too. Please keep the torch burning and never allow your passion to fade away.

I have a big dream for the expanse of land I ve gotten. Also, I am in talk with the locals whether there are cheap lands around that can still be annexed to this one.
The plan involves having a cold room where processed chicken after de-feathering can be stored for sale. This is where the broilers come in. Given the fact dt broiler are very prones to CRD disease from upward of 6 to 8 weeks, I wouldn't advise anyone to mix them up in pens with close proximities. For this reason, this land will be dedicated solely to layers.

Also, broilers are best reared if u already have a dedicated demand for It. Otherwise, seasonal or festive demand is not a sufficient reason for me to venture into it.

So I advise u bro, please focus on layers and achieve near perfection in everything pertaining to this specialisation.

You may find it hard to believe but virtually all d steps have taken so far were well thought out and I did most to near flawless. I spent more dn 2m on the building of d pen alone. Someone could ve spent lower but definitely not d same standard.

Most poultry dont bother fencing there areas cos of the expanse of land, i did fencing with barbed wires and Dongoyaro tree branches at the perimeter. The trees will grow to form a good wind breaker and landscape for the farm in later years. That alone cost around 250k.

Total stumping of the area cost around 150k. I am planing on mixed plantations of soybeans and corn so dt I can harvest and use as feed eventually.

I have 2 nos generator sets and the third one is d 40kva. The gen are natural nocturnal problem giver. It is in d nite they will show thier true colours. U need substitutes at hand so as not to jeopardize the required lighting for ur birds.

I also bought a second-hand freezer to keep the vacine at good temperature.
But the summary of all these is dt if ur capacity will only take 100 birds , prepare d best provisions for them and then rely on your Creator to crown your human strivings, for ONLY Him grant succes to whom He wishes. May He grant you and i success in our endeavours.

naughtylagosguy:

Congrats. More success to you. Hope to start mine very soon too. Are you going into layers production only or you are combining it with broilers considering the large expanse of land that you bought.

Please kindly share more insight so that we can learn more efrom you.
