Can God Ever Forget? PepERSprAY if you asked me for something its either i say YES! NO! or maybe later i'll give or do it for you depending on what you asked me for. But one thing about is that i won't forget because am not a forgetful person.
If God is not forgetful, why do we ask Him for one thing many times?
Christianity EtcRe: Can God Ever Forget? by PepERSprAY(op): 8:36pm On Nov 03, 2008
A_K_O:
1 John 5:14-15.

"And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, he heareth us:
And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask (according to His will), we know that we have the petitions that we have desired of Him."

What this tells me is that once you have prayed for anything as long as it is the will of God, which is best known through His word, He hears and answers us. We may not see the answer immediately all the time but we will surely get it. That's where faith comes in; the evidence of something you can't see.
So you are saying that we do NOT need to repeat our plea unto God like most Christians do?. Once you ask, no more, abi?

I'm still waiting for a single plausible reason why you have to prostrate to show respect, its in the bible not to bow down to any being other than GOD,so why some will still think thats a culture not to depart from in this day and age is still beyond me, especially as prostrating is not same as respecting the elder, i personally think the ibo way of shaking their elders and stuffs comes across more real and genuine,
so to show I'm chock full of respect, ill catch a skin desease layn my palms on bare ground and following it up by laying my whole body
You do not need to grace every response here with a reply. Anybody that wants to continue kissing the floor for a fellow mortal in the name of stupid culture can knock herself out as far as am concerned. It is a free world. I was recently in a heated argument over that culture and it's effect on our society and none of those that support could give the naysayers one advantage of it. The worst aspect of it is the elders expect you to shut up even when your opinion is clearly smarter than theirs. Tell me the morale behind that culture? It may not be dangerous like you specified but I think it's uncouth and has exceeded it's usefulness in modern society. The hypocrisy attached to it is not my concern because even the ibos that greet their elders like westerners still show some element of hypocrisy. Salutation is not love.

Christianity EtcCan God Ever Forget? by PepERSprAY(op): 11:25am On Nov 03, 2008
Do we need to ask God for same thing twice?. Assuming I ask God for a job last week, do I need to pray about that job over and over again as if God has forgotten my initial request?. Same goes for healing, since God is not man and cannot be forgetful, why do we ask for healing from same disease over and over and over again per prayer session?.

Is there anywhere in the bible that supports that attitude among Christians because am thinking that it's faithlessness and over zealous attitude that is pushing us into bugging God every minute over something we've told Him before,

Insight please.

prostrating for elders smacks of hypocrisy to me
Me too and I think it's uncouth. It's fading gradually with the newer generation especially those in the diaspora. Imagine you trying to prostrate in Manhattan, won't they think you are in the Broadway cast? undecided
CrimeRe: My Dear, You Cannot Slap A Woman In America by PepERSprAY: 11:10am On Nov 03, 2008
EbonyMerma:
Yeah, in America if a man slaps his wife she can press charges. They police will take him away and depending on the severity he may go to jail, or prison. This is considered as "domestic violence" or "assult and battery".

If a woman was to hit another woman it would be the same.

If someone hits a pregnant woman, they will definately go to jail.
The mistake people make is assuming that it's only the man that gets arrested after slapping a woman. A woman can also be arrested in America for slapping her husband. So don't think that because you are a woman, you are covered by no arrest insurance and you can slap your husband or boyfriend at will. They will also handcuff you and pray he doesn't press charges.

I disagree with some people here that claims that women rule in North America, that is a boldfaced lie. I repeat, don't buy that lie for a minute. Men get arrested more often than women because they are more violent and have the tendency to abuse physically while we women use our mouth to do ours most times.

The law is : You cannot abuse anybody be it man, woman, child, destitute etc and not you cannot abuse only the woman.

I just need to set it straight before some Naija women walk into trouble because they think they are shielded by the law covering physical abuse.

keyamo is a very intelligent man. he is went to ekpoma which means he is also street wise. anybody with half functioning brain cell knows that the best way to get nigerians emotional is to shout corruption.
so when a keyamo, who past experience has taught me is just a self serving, corrupt man, comes out with allegations that he has not shown evidence of, then i think i will be stupid not to recognise the fact that he is either trying to make money or is working for people intent on discrediting the speaker.
Keyamo is an Esan reject and a thug who disguise as a petty lawyer and a conniving bastard. Edo indigenes are truly dangerous embarassed embarassed.

The Special Adviser to the Speaker, Kayode Akinmade, however, told Sunday Sun that the fresh allegation was baseless and the handiwork of some lawmakers who are not happy with the achievements recorded by Bankole in one year.

Akinmade added that it was another grand design to tarnish the image of the Speaker by aggrieved members over the composition of committees.
"November 1 (yesterday) will be the exact one year that he took over as the Speaker of the House. As you know, he has not done anything outside due process. But you will also agree with me that some people are not happy that under him, corruption had been exposed through the various investigations carried out by the House. So you can understand that some people are not happy with the campaign against corruption and they would go to any length to smear his name," he said.
Akinmade also insisted that since he came into office, Bankole has not done anything wrong as being alleged.
God will guide and protect him from his enemies including the ones in nairaland.

Stop defending Bankole's corruption on the basis of 'being made to look bad by the North' - why will they not reveal the actual terms of the contract?

In one deal alone, 500m naira was siphoned off and you want Keyamo to keep quiet?

He stinks, always making claims of how corrupt other arms of government are, but the first test comes for him and he bungles it, refusing to face up to the allegations.

This idiotic defence of tribe even in the face of egregious corruption is what is killing Nigeria. You'll defend a patent thief simply because he is from your tribe. I guess living abroad does not remove those primitive instincts from people like Funmi.
Defending? Somebody has an attitude undecided. Who is defending Bankole?. I am just not comfortable with a charge and bail lawyer making empty noise without any proof. Common, I can spoof Nairaland members claiming that you are hitting on me so bad without proof. Won't you see those that believe my allegation without proof as schmucks?. You and I know that Bankole's accusation is a tribal issue and we will give them what they are looking for.

FamilyRe: Children Raised In Nigeria Are Better? by PepERSprAY: 9:18pm On Oct 31, 2008
If You don't raise a Child well

You don't Raise him well, Be it in Naija, Jand or Yankee or even ChinkoLand.

My Neighbours Child, an eight year old

if you hear him shouting on his mum, you will weep.

and he has a loud voice, i usuall hear some conversations from my room.

Mummmy!!! What is wrong with you na, you didnt buy the Viju Milk

Mummy!!! You are not serious oh!!!!

Telling other people, My mummy is sometimes stupid oh.

imagine this.

The Society has a part to play, of course

But what values have you been able to instill in your child?

abi na Society wey born am?
Society has a very big part in raising a child. You may raise him/her well but she/he will be influenced by the environment. There is no scientific proof tho but it is obvious from my own observation that kids that get whipped by their parents rarely get a short end of the deal. Besides, in Naija, it's not only the parents affair, neighbours, teachers, strangers etc help to raise kids. A man that rarely know you in Naija will flog the hell out of you as a child if he catch you kissing your boyfriend behind the bush but such a thing can never happen in the west.

Nigerian raised kids will soon turn out like kids raised in the west because they rarely play in the streets again because of WII, PS3 etc, no more street soccer, playing hide and seek and visiting friends. Their lives are limited to long school hours, maid and their room TV. Imagine what will happen in 5 years time?

We are not going anywhere because the Northerners especially Hausa, have succeeded in ripping Nigeria off it's moral fiber. The most dangerous politics they are playing now is making Southerners look bad when they are the real bad guys.

vikiviko:
Mr. Dimeji Bankole came to the Speakership of the Nigeria’s House of Reps, when Ms. Patricia Etteh, the erstwhile crooked and incompetent speaker abandoned decency and stole herself into disrepute and impeachment. But this house is on the news again. Most of the reasons why Etteh was probed and sacked have assumed other forms and are being mercilessly perpetrated in the same House of filth. Some have even begun to ask why Etteh was sacked in the first place, when other more potent and equal opportunity embezzlers are still on call.

The probe of Bankole will achieve one of two things! It either exposes him to an indictment and consequent impeachment; or it is politically manipulated to keep him in office. If he is impeached, his replacement will be sought from the same corrupt pool! This is because, the Nigerian legislature is a house erected on corruption. That is why what they are doing in the name of probe is simply a circus. Many of those guys there are there on a stolen mandate. This explains their recalcitrance in passing the Freedom of Information Bill. They are aware that the passage of that bill tantamount to self-destruction for them. Nigerians will then be empowered to ask questions and would have the right to access information in relation to their questions. To this end, these guys will never pass that bill. They are ready to wait it out until public opinion dies down, and business continues as usual.

Bankole if found guilty of any wrong doings in the contract scandal should be fired with immediate effect and be made to face the music. The audacious impunity of Nigerian politicians lends steady credence to Chinweizu’s assertion that until we start beheading thieves in power, Nigeria will never know felicity or development. The goings on in the Nigerian power corridors makes it extraordinarily difficult to believe the obverse. Nigerians are getting gradually fed up. And the day that Nigerians will say enough, Ghana’s brand of revolution under Rawlings will be the antics of spoilt kids in relation to what Nigeria will experience. The Tsunami is coming! But our politicians are eternally deaf and blind, until their heads follow!
This is still an allegation ooo, nobody is sure yet and it's better to wait before casting stones. Bankole is still innocent until proven guilty.
