obi58: Bros ... The crude oil is a free gift of nature. We can decide as a nation how much we want to sell the product domestically to refineries locally and internationally at OPEC prices. That's what we should do. We can decide to sell 30% of our daily output in naira and the rest to the international market in dollars. I can assure you government will still make a very healthy profit. But there is a cabal that will sing the song that it doesn't work that way in the downstream oil sector as everything is denominated in dollars but to this I say that government decides on the policies and operating conditions for oil exploration in Nigeria and players unwilling to adhere to government's conditions are free to exit. We all know that several other oil companies will jump at the opportunity to take their place! I always use this adage that if you are a cassava farmer, you will not charge your family for the portion of your produce you use to feed them whilst taking the rest to the market to sell. It would be stupid of you to go and buy garri at the market when you produce it yourself.
I'm sure you are aware of the oil swap deals done by the government with foreign countries to reduce the FX spent on fuel importation?
In essence, there is no hard and fast rule about these things. It is the choice of government to subject their oil to international prices or not and every government seeks to do what is best for its people and not for the international market. Don't be emotional.. Cos oil is surplus here does that mean that Government mine it from the ground free of charge? Have you considered the cost of bringing out crude oil from the ground? |

Standing5: Nigeria is 900 thousand sqkm yet DSS claims to have ear in every nook and crany. Why not employ 20,000 personal and pay them N75k to infiltrate smugglers? That's N20b a year and about what goes to subsidy in a day or two. That same border suddenly became tight in security when it was time for closure and food embargo so why not against fuel smugglers? Tinubu once asked Buhari to recruit 50,000 into the army so why not take a cue from his own school of thought and use to solve the problem? Guy, subsidy don go. No amount of wailing will bring it back.. |

Bobloco: This is pure propaganda
How is these products finding their way to those countries. No one have been sacked for not doing his job in securing our borders or arrested by the security agencies for smuggling
Instead of tackling the issues, they keep running around Nigeria has corrupt border patrols who will turn a blind eye if he's bribed by the smugglers. Sacking him and putting another one doesn't mean the other one won't be corrupt.. Also Nigeria as a 4500km length of border.. How many men will it take to man such length effectively... Subsidy removal is the surest way to end that corruption. |

Bobloco: I knew that they will come out with this propaganda
We are waiting for Niger, Togo, Chad and Cameroon
All to justify this thoughtless decision by Tinubu
Instead of fixing refineries, blocking leakages, having an effective and efficient border patrol to arrest and prosecute these smugglers Having 100 refineries in Nigeria will not reduce price of fuel in Nigeria as long as crude oil is sold at international price. If it will, why then are oil producing countries like Qatar and UAE with refineries selling PMS at 450-520 naira? Some id!ots will leave the question I asked and started asking about the minimum wage of those countries. |

Politics › History Of Nigeria Air Under PMB. by Perfectbeing(op): 2:22am On May 27, 2023 |
In 2017: The FG announced intention to invest $5m in an effort to revive and rebrand the national carier.
July 2018: The FG, in a UK Air Show unveiled the logo and new name "Nigeria Air" for the new national carier.
September 2018: barely 2 months after unveiling, the FG announced suspension of the Nigeria Air project indefinitely. It was later we came to realise that it was suspended so the govt can fully off-set the debt of the defunct Nigeria Airways staff which amounted to about N22.6billion incured since its liquidation in 2003.
October 2018: The FG announced commencement of payment N22.6b withheld benefits of the defunct Nigeria Airways. The FG did not discriminate in the payment. Ahmed, Emeka, Babagana, Chinyere, Wale, Tola everyone was paid.
September 2022: The FG announced Ethiopian Air as the prefered bidder of Nigeria Air alongside 3 Nigerian investors in MRS, NSIF and SAHCO. The Ethiopian Air holds 49% of the shares while Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority share 46% leaving FG with only 5% shareholding. It was also announced then that the National Carier will kick off with Three (3) Boeing 737-800 aircrafts and only 1 is cleared and has arrived before the remaining 2.
April 2023: A Federal High Court in Lagos restrained the DG of NCAA from issuing Air Transport Liscence (ATL) to the Nigeria Air, a case filed by some domestic airlines because Nigeria Air is patnering with a foreign airline not them i guess.
May 26: The first branded Nigeria Air aircraft arrives Abuja 🇳🇬 in style leaving children of hate in agony.
I narrated the journey so Nigerians can appreciate the effort of Buhari and Hadi Sirika in realizing this project despite the stumbling blocks. You can say its rented, painted or whatever but one can never deny the fact that after 20 years, Nigerian Colors 🇳🇬 are flying once again.
Also, UK National Carrier (British Airways) is 100% owned by a Spanish company. The government of Canada only owns 6.4% of Air Canada (National Carrier of Canada). But copy and paste journalist says Ethiopian Airline can own stakes in Nigeria Airways.
God bless Nigeria 🇳🇬 |

Ogene001: Dying of hunger, are you for real? As for infrastructure, there is something called prioritization. Demographia has rated Onitsha as largest urban area by landmass because Peter Obi prioritized inter connectivity of numerous Anambra densly populated towns. These places have now merged together into a very large cornubation. Obi started work on Onitsha City center in his second tenure. The multi laned super highway in Onitsha can only be compred with Kubwa expressway in Abuja, no other road come close If truly, Obi improved Anambra, how come there wasn't any substantial IGR increase in Anambra in his 8 years? Common sense should tell you that development brings investment... And investment will bring more revenue to the State through taxes and other things.. So how come Anambra revenue increase in Peter Obi's 8 years was less than a billion. That means only few investments entered the State in those years. |

Acidosis: The Lekki Free Trade Zone received more investment (including Dangote Refinery) from Governor Akinwunmi Ambode than from any other governor Lagos has ever produced. Why doesn't anyone mention him or even the name of the current governor who is now in office and whose watch this refinery was commissioned?
This attitude can best be described as idolatry or bewitchment. Dangote owns the money, he owns the idea, he owns the investment. Where he chooses to locate his investment should be attributed to the current and sitting governor of the state, Sanwo-Olu. You see the way you're praising Ambode and Sanwo Olu (people you claimed was installed) cos you hate Tinubu so much and can't bring yourself to praise his achievements?? That's exactly how you'd be praising Buhari by the next one or two years in your bid to rubbish every achievements of Tinubu..😂 The Buhari you and your other haters claimed didn't do anything for 8 years would be the one that built or started everything that Tinubu will do..🤣 Even the Kano-Maradi rail line (that you guys insulted Buhari for building) that would definitely be completed by Tinubu, you will praise Buhari for it and not Tinubu..😂 When 24/7 light becomes a reality under Tinubu, you'll then remember that it was Buhari that started the Siemens deal it and completed it over 99.999% before he left.. The same Siemens deal that makes no sense to you now. Same with AKK gas pipeline.🤣 By the time Tinubu increases the revenue of Nigeria and diversifies the economy, you'll then say it was as a result of the infrastructures Buhari build while in office that's now paying off.. You'll forget how you were once crying about the loans taken to achieve that. By the time rice and other foodstuffs becomes cheaper under Tinubu, you'll say it was a result of Buhari's agricultural revolution.. You'd begin to praise Buhari for banning rice importation and forcing Nigerians to grow what we eat.. Something you've claimed Buhari was wicked for doing.. I really can't wait to see you praise Buhari whom you hate to diminish Tinubu's achievements when the time comes. 🤣😂 It would be a good thing to watch. |

Politics › Re: Should Dangote Venture Into Electricity? by Perfectbeing(m): 6:38pm On May 23, 2023 |
sonature1: When you talk about electricity in Nigeria, you need to understand the sections it's divided into - generation, transmission and distribution. If a company wants to singlehandedly handle all these three, it will require a lot of money, and probably legal tussle.
Furthermore, remember that the FG has outsourced distribution and generation. Yet, the distribution companies keep running at loss. Therefore, I won't advise any serious profit-oriented businessman to focus on supplying power to one state. Instead, break it down into supplying power to a part of state, estate or commercial use only.
That's because most Nigerians who cry that Nigeria doesn't supply steady power are not aware that they cannot afford to pay for it. Hence, most of them bypassed their meters.
Funnily enough, some spend in few weeks to run and service their generators what they would pay NEPA (permit me to call it this) for 3 - 4 months in bills. Because they bypassed their meters, at the end of the day, NEPA doesn't give them steady power supply because they always incur losses after supplying power to people who bypassed their meters. Nigerians should make stiff laws against people who bypass meter.. Like 2 years imprisonment with no option of fine. |
