ImperialKingJosh: Which 5k are people being paid, please stop lying, I was unemployed 4 years I didn't get a dime, show me fellows who are being paid 5k for being an unemployed graduate here on nairaland with proofs and ill retract my words ,sign up where they signed up, and vote them again.
Sweet talks, you mean like he is promising now... So all of a sudden we should believe his new "sweet talks"... Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me... He took us for a fool, rode on our intelligence, gave us fake sweet talks, bought our trust and now you expect us to give same cunning man our vote again after he has been caught deceiving us and it's all known his agenda is just to win and not for our interests?
I've seen people die of hunger, in Abia state I witnessed a lady crying, laying on the road side looking so pale , starved, her bones were popping out, her face looked like a skull with no flesh on it, I drove by, I couldnt forgive myself for not helping, the next day I returned with a loaf of bread to throw at her cause I didnt know if she was mentally unstable, when I met her, she laid there dead, just along ogborhill the road between ukegbu and azuka.. incase you want to verify People died cause they believed in him, people are buried cause they trusted in those sweet talks.. Mothers, wife's, children, men lost brother's, sisters, husbands and son's cause they had faith in those campaign promises and voted for him, APC was responsible for their security, the job they promised them, that electricity, that 5k, they deserved a better life. Not hardship, rise in cost of feeding and living, no employment and survival became a prayer point, while they, the leaders made fat with national treasures..
But how do I expect you to understand, you've never been in a position where you're hungry for a week, broke, no job and family are also looking for their next meal and cant help.. where you think today might just be the day you'll die cause theres no hope of getting money or food from anywhere... where you outweigh dangerous choices to make that determine if you live or die in search of your next food cause of the pain from the hunger ...
You have always gotten heavy salaries, food on your table, flight tickets, so how on earth do I expect you to understand.
This vote, people are fighting to vote the right ones cause their lives depends on it.. while you and your fat filled belly friends are fighting to win for the glory and extra money.
But hey, it was just sweet talks, to APC, to Tinubu, the masses are stupid, expendable and are just a tool to achieve a selfish goal.
That's not the kind of man I want as my president.. That's not who ill vote for.
If this is the progress you got from APC from 2015 till date, you call this progress, then it's the main reason no sensible person would vote APC. They progress backwards... The 5k ways given to the poorest of the poor which you'll never see here in Nairaland. Though I've never met one, but I did see a school where the school feeding was being observed. About sweet talks, isn't it sweet talk that Peter Obi is sweet talking everyone? Someone that his administration over saw 6 and 13 months of strike is criticising the current strike. You're talking about suffering, are you aware that people suffered in Anambra cos doctors were on strike for 13 months? Do you know how many people were dying due to lack of health care for good 13 months in Anambra? Now the same Governor is sweet talking us that he will do this and that if he becomes President This time around, I'm following someone with track records not someone who talks too much and tell lies to deceive gullible people. |

You still don't understand. Yes the refineries were working at first. Do you expect the refinery to stop working the very day subsidy started? It was a gradual decent na. The refineries did just became dead all at once na. When someone stops servicing and repairing his/her car, is it that very day that the car will break down? Of course not. It will take time. Same thing happened with the refineries. Money meant for servicing and repairs were being wasted on subsidy and with time the refineries died gradually. |

ImperialKingJosh: Since you're looking for your stupidity, let me help you find it.. Many of those promises were just sweet talk to make Nigerians vote for APC then. Intelligent people like us knew no one could make $1=N1. If they had told Nigerians the truth then, nobody would have voted them in. But not all of those promises were false. Today power has improved drastically and by next year, will become much more better, the railways are working, people were (and are still) paid 5k monthly, Nigeria is now the highest producer of rice in Africa over taking Egypt. Deny all you want, but this Government has tried when it comes to infrastructures. I believe Buhari has taken us away from Egypt to the wilderness. And now, like the Israelites, we think Egypt was much better. But next year, Tinubu is coming to take us to the promise Land. Buhari has done the hardest part that no Government had the balls to do. He will definitely remove subsidy before he leaves office. The next Government, irrespective of who emerges as the winner will have things easier. They might use subsidy removal to campaign against him but they will secretly thank him for doing something that would have made Nigerians hate them. All the hate would be on Buhari and not on them. You won't understand now but you will soon. |

CheapHomes1: This is why I asked you earlier if you actually knew what subsidy is. Are you aware that even when the refineries were working, the govt was paying subsidy?
Is it the non availability of local refining capacity that is responsible for subsidy in Nigeria?
Pls explain the process that will go into damgotr refining crude that will lead to an end of subsidy? When Dangote refinery starts, the Government will let him set the price of refining crude oil and make profit, instead of them setting their own price. Do you know why telecommunication became successful today? It is because when Obj allowed their presence in Nigeria, he allowed them to set their own price and they made enough profits. When they first came, sim cards were selling as high as N50k. Tarrifs were very high. So the network providers then made enough profit and till today they're still here. The only one that failed was the one owned by Nigerian Government (NITEL) which was subsided. NITEL couldn't make enough money to keep itself afloat and hence it fell. Same thing that happened to the Nigerian refineries. All the gains the refineries made went into subsidizing fuel for Nigerians and money meant for keeping it afloat wasn't there anymore. Do you know that because Nigerian Government subsidize petrol for us, some corrupt Nigerians are smuggling Nigerian cheap fuel to Ghana and Niger to sell at higher price over there and make enough profit for themselves? So if Dangote is allowed to set his own price to make enough profits, he would be able to keep his refinery afloat as long as crude oil is being sold on Earth. |

CheapHomes1: Good. So how is this a valid statement?
"Subsidy will end soon when Dangote's refinery is completed. Know this and know peace". The Government have been unable to stop subsidy cos Nigeria has no working refinery and stopping it will almost have no advantage cos FG will still be exporting crude over seas and importing refined fuel back. But with Dangote's refinery onboard, FG can fully stop subsidy and Dangote refinery will do the refining of crude. FG saves money that would have gone to subsidzing fuel and also the cost of transporting crude to and from overseas will be gone. Do you understand now? |

1. Those who support Tinubu because it's a chance to gain power and loot like Buhari's relations and cronies are doing now. (These are the people that will benefit from the govt)
2. Those who support Tinubu because he is Yoruba. (Ask yourself, is the country better for the common man in the North who supported Buhari for the same reasons or are we all suffering together??)
3. Those who support Tinubu because they hate the Igbo (Lock your room, sit down alone and ask yourself "what has an Igbo person ever done to me??" These politicians divid us with ethnicity and hatred for each other because that is the only they can rule us).
I rest my case. q 1. I support Tinubu because I don't want another 6 months strike like what happened in Anambra 2. I support Tinubu because I don't want to die when doctors go on strike for 13 months like they did Anambra. 3. I support Tinubu because number one and two never happened when Tinubu was Governor. dogmart: You have spoken well, and I just punched the like button since I agree with you on a lot you have said. However you are forgetting one part of the equation. CORRUPTION.
Removing the fuel subsidy is indeed the way to go but in the end what still happens to the monies? Will they not claim rat are them up this time around?
You see we can make excuses for lack of funds and all as being the reason why our refineries are moribund till date , but truth be told any corrupt free government with ready will would have faced the refineries (even of it meant borrowing billions to do so) a long time ago. You have two options. 1. FG should keep blaming all their ineffectiveness on subsidy. When they can't build road they'll say it's cos a subsidy. When they say no money for road cos of subsidy. And till eternity they'll keep on blaming subsidy. 2. FG remove subsidy and you give them the benefit of doubt that they'll perform and hold them by the balls when they don't cos now their subsidy excuses is gone forever. Now you have the right to do the mother of all protest for the Government to give you what you want. Which of the two options look better to you? |

abbey621: I'm sure you learned about economics/accounting in school. Are big project cost ever taken from one budget or spread out over many years? In addition, who told you government cannot partner with private companies to share the cost? Dangote refinery once completed will be one of the largest in the world, the average refinery is about 7-8 Billion dollars. Even if we have to borrow the money, surely it would make sense more than these subsidy scam we are operating? Why spend 8 billion Naira per year on subsidy, we are just postponing the eventual suffering. And who told you FG isn't partnering with Dangote. FG has a 20% stake on Dangote's Refinery. FG won't have money for a new refinery when they still pay subsidy. They have to stop subsidy before they can see money to invest in a new refinery. Do you know there was a time FG wanted to borrow money from IMF, but they said FG have to stop subsizing electricity from Nigerians and to increase tax before they give out the loan? They said giving out loans to the Nigerian government is a waste because it spend too much money subsizing things for it's people while collecting little taxes. So you see? there are many things you'll never know about running a government until you get there. |

Why not just search Google and see how much it is. Dangote's refinery with a capacity of 600k barrels per day is nearing almost $20 billion. Our 2022 budget is less than $30 billion. So where will Nigeria get the money to build a new refinery from? |
Politics › Re: Without Subsidy Petrol Will Cost ₦462/litre, Says NNPCL by Perfectbeing(m): 5:48am On Sep 05, 2022 |
harizonal123: Why can't we make our refineries work instead of importation. Saboteurs everywhere Because you can't magically will the refineries to work. You have to invest billions of dollars to repair the moribund refinery to working condition. Yar Adua reversed the sale of two refineries sold to Dangote by the Obj administration at the price of $750 million. If Yar Adua hadn't done that, Dangote wouldn't have needed to build a new refinery from scratch. He would have just repaired the ones he bought and by now he would have been refining our fuel. Today, nobody would buy those refineries for even $250 million cos they're too old. Yar Adua is praised as our best President since 1999 but he's not. He's a big flop that should never have happened.. He also reversed the sale of the Ajaokuta steel to an Indian company without reading the clause and now Nigeria FG is to going to pay $450 million to the company. Same mistake he did by signing an unrealistic agreement with ASUU that's affecting us till today. Back to the refinery. Due to subsidy, Nigerian Government pays part of the money that we are supposed to pay for fuel for us. By doing that, fuel is cheap. But at a cost. The money Nigeria suppose use for maintenance and servicing of the refineries are all spent on subsidy. That is what made all our 3 refineries to die off. So if you want our refineries to work instead of us importing fuel you should be praying that the Govenrnment end fuel subsidy. |
