Lasuth still doesn't have but if you're on the Island Axis, you can try Doren Hospital (08023062100) in Ajah or Louismed Hospital (08130101759) in Lekki Phase one and the cost in both places is N6000. I did mine in Louismed sha. Note that the vaccine is taken in 2 doses (30 day interval), so have that in mind while making your preparations
cc Perotti

Thank you boss but I really don't have time to wait for 30 days now. Can I get a lab proof from them that I have once done the vaccinations?

They come in both. Better to get unfurnished, and you can furnish yourself as you wish...to save money

Thank you boss

For insurance, check ISOA as already suggested, or just google international student insurance and look up some plans and reviews. The main challenge would be the insurance you choose meeting the requirements of your school. If I were you, I would print out different policy details from different insurance companies/agencies that show coverage and take those to the international office to ask what they would accept before buying any.
Install dealnews,coupons.com,slingdeals apps on your phone to get good prices when you need to make large purchases.
A few stores like Best Buy,Fry's,Target also match amazon prices. So if you see something you want on Amazon, and it's available in these stores. You can get them for the price you see online without having to wait for shipping. 6pm.com has decent, affordable shoes.
Phone plans...if you get a shared plan (family plan) with few friends, you'd typically pay less but may have to always run after people for payments at the end of billing cycles or your line would be cut off till you pay. If you don't want to do this, there is Lycamobile, straight talk and many other low tier carriers. Check for the coverage in your school though.

Generally..cost of living is not as high in Mid west, so you should be good.

Thank you very much bro. One more question pls do rooms fot rent come furnished or u furnish it yourself?

[quote author=femi321 post=56993488]General living expenses depends on your lifestyle but typically for someone that doesn't really eat outside much nor drink or keep late nights, $200/months is MORE than enough to stock your fridge to eat good food.

Thank you very much bro. God bless. How much do u pay as monthly rent and when u want to sign a lease what are the things to look out for?

What rate is your bank charging you? BY MAFIT did additional score reports at N8000 per school. Get their numbers through their website and give them a call. I know the dollar requirement by ETS is $27 per school which makes BY MAFIT cheaper than the naira equivalent of $27 which should be 27* 305 (can't process it at the moment).

thank you Sir. Access is charging me 375 to a dollar so BY Mafit is a better alternative. I will call them

Wow. So much to learn here. Decided to shove sleep side to read all comments. Really epic.
Illegal Immigration=No way/
Best countries to migrate to with right skills IMO;
1. Australia.
2.Canada
3.USA
4.Germany (Language barrier)

Maxwell used to live in Bariga with his parents and four siblings in a tight room some years back. Dad won the visa lottery and they were able to pull strings together to move. Today Maxwell's life has been transformed for good. The Nigerian spirit of hardwork and diligence should not be written off. My 2 cents.

Elders have spoken and emphasized a bird in hand is better and that two good options are better than one. Apply for US and dont give up on Alberta.

Thank you very much sir. I appreciate this thorough job.

This is quite tight, but as they say "a bird at hand is better than thousands in the bush" if am in your shoes l'll do with what I have presently, the Colorado is good just order for your I-20 and go for your interview. Its a day stuff unlike 17wks wait of IRCC. So my brother pls first go with that lets see the outcome since the process is not a long one in getting the visa.

Thank u big boss. Colorado it is!

I second this. @Perotti, get the Colorado I-20, but still pursue the University of Alberta admission & funding.
Even if you get the US visa and change your mind, you can still apply for a Canadian TRV with the Alberta funding.

Thank you sir.

Mr Man, go for what you have at hand presently....I will better go for colorado...Besides, there is no time on your side, you have to order ur I-20 sharply.

My big bosses pls i need your help. I had a skype interview with a PI at University of Alberta for PhD. The funding offer is 21k CAD (stipend+tuition) per year. We haven't concluded yet. Got another offer of $22k (stipend only, tuition covered seperately) at Colorado State Uni. Which do I go for? Alberta is of course higher ranked but I can't afford grad studies without funding. Please help.

Education / Re: Eight (8) Reasons Every University Should Have A Startup Lab by Perotti: 10:32am On Apr 25, 2017
I remember visiting the University of Waterloo, Canada and we were taken to the "'Velocity Center" a massive startup lab/hub that also housed big tech firms like Google and Yahoo to provide mentorship and support to students.
I simply shook my head and said to myself: when will Nigerian Universities get to this level?

Thank you, this is good!
The research assistantship thing, you basically do research with your supervisor as well as assist him with some lab work. For the pay you should check with the school on how they make payments for those on assistantships. I know some schools do Bi-weekly. For living this should depends on the city you are, but you should have some money to take care of you for a month or so! With careful planning, your stipend should be enough for you in the entire duration of your PhD.

Thank you bro.

share your transcript

He began by describing the project and what it entailed, and then he asked me about my research experience, followed by a question on the courses I took during my MS and a subject specific question. He later asked why I wanted to do a PhD and then concluded by asking me if I had any questions for him. I was interviewing with a PI, so it wasn't a panel thingy. Network was bad so we couldnt skype much, we made use of Zoom.

Can you give us a little hint of how your interview went so that some prospective PhD applicant like us can learnt a thing or two.
