We have no marine corps, what we do have is an Army amphibious unit. Cool... Seen a couple of guys in some khaki combinations who carry themselves like military. I've walked up to some and asked, they said they're Marines. Trained but uncommissioned, for now |

ValerianSteel: Such a sexist comment.
First off, she's human and for someone her age who has had a very busy schedule for a year and a half now, she's bound to get weary and tired. She's running for the toughest job in the world, she isn't required to become a robot to get it.
Her doctor confirmed she was diagnosed with pneumonia on Friday, but here she still pulled strong for two days to pay her respects to victims and families of 9/11,last time I had that,I didn't get out of bed for a week even with antibiotics and other medications,I just couldn't,I felt too weak and especially lazy to want to do anything. That's the kind of President and Commander in Chief we want, one who pulls strong no matter the situation.
On her worst day,Secretary Clinton is a hundred times better than Trump will ever be to serve as President and Commander in chief of the United States of America.
Mind I add,Presidents fall sick all the time,White House just won't report it.George W Bush fainted in the White House after choking on his pretzel.FDR was elected in wheelchairs with polio, the list goes on.
The fact that you would question her abilities to serve as President when faced with health situation that could happen to anyone goes to show how pathetic your thoughts are.
No,Donald Trump will never be our President. When the arguments don't favour you, scream 'racist' and sexist |

plaetton: They are not contesting for who should be the President of a social club, but for the most powerful office in the world. Clinton is over qualified for that office. She has a resume that clearly shows that.
Trump, as aside from my not liking him , is such an unstable character that the CIA and the NSA expressed fears about entrusting state secrets to such an unstable character.
Look back at Trump's businesses. All you see are webs of tangled Debts, lawsuits, failures and bankruptcies.
Sure, just like Nigeria, anyone can point at numerous national problems or issues, but it takes a sane, honest and broad mind to confront them. Isn't it ironic that the offences Hillary got away with are in connection with state secrets? Everyone has failures just as Hillary shares some blame for the 2012 benghazi attacks. On sanity and health, guess which presidential candidate's medical records and healthy issues have been shrouded in secrecy |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Trump Leads Clinton In Latest Poll After A Month Of Trailing. by peterphd(m): 8:37pm On Aug 21, 2016 |
plaetton: A million times.
Trump is only good in bragging about himself.
Contrary to what you have heard, Trump has a horrible record of managing his businesses. His businesses, for many decades, have been enmeshed in bankruptcies, lawsuits, and Debt.
The man is full of nothing but hot air.
It is unthinkable to entrust the power of the United States to that unstable, psychopathic narcissist. I'm tempted to say you dislike trump simply because narcissistic and loud. However, I think he's the lesser evil when one is confronted with the choice of trump and Hillary. For all the hot air you say he's full of, I think he actually has the gall to mention the things wrong with America i.e political correctness to a fault, the pervading victim mentality the seems to be the norm and what not. Hillary, the media's 'go grrrl' and face of nauseating feminism was let off the hook for criminal offences last month. I'm of the opinion that a narcissist with chutzpah is what is needed instead of a candidate that only supports the victim mentality and political correctness that has reached scary levels since Obama. |

plaetton: Exactly. Let the Trumpers keep deluding themselves. Packing halls full of rednecks Texas and other Bible belt states does not an election win.
Trump needs not only to win all the red States that Romney won 4 yrs ago, but also needs to pull an additional 3 blue States to in a winning position.
Right now, he is still far from winning key Republican
States, talkless of stealing 3 states from the Democrats.
Republicans are finished as far presidential voting demographics are concerned.
You need women, blacks, Hispanics , college educated young and a few white men to win a US presidential election.
Donald Trump has neither of the above. Do you think Hillary will do better job than trump? |
Christianity Etc › Re: From Atheism To Jesus: My Testimony by peterphd(m): 8:23pm On Aug 18, 2016 |
oodo: Please people there is nothing good about being an atheist. These set of people are always defenceless when ever they are under demonic attack. There is nothing like the name and blood of Jesus christ when it comes to spiritual warfare. I was living a life which could pass for an atheist because as a christian which I thought I was, I hardly go to church. Sometimes I can exist in this world for a whole year without attending a single sunday service. As an introvert I am blessed with a very high moral standard for all to see but on the inside I was filled with darkness and emptiness. My life keep deteriotating from bad to worse until just last week when I had this dream. In this dream I was walking along the road(I was actually on a bridge) when suddenly a force from nowhere swept me of my feet and lifted me up like a piece of paper. I was up there struggling while the unseen force(person) was carrying me to the other end of the bridge to throw me down. This strange force later stopped an was unable to move(I guess that force was stopped by an angel of God). When the unseen force discovered that he was unable to advance to enable him accomplish his mission, he simply dropped me down and I woke up. As a spiritually weak person which I was I ignored the dream cos I was to weak to pray as that struggle affected my strenght in the physical realm. I looked at the clock it was 2:15am. Then suddenly I had this experience which seems like a trance, I notice a shadow figure of a person standing in front of me but when I try I get up to confront that shadow I discovered I just couldn't even sit up after several attempt. While I was struggling to get up that shadow let out a wicked laughter and I discovered I was dealing with a woman. At that point I started calling out the name of Jesus but at first my voice was weak as I could hardly make any audible pronounciation of the name Jesus but when my voice started becoming clearer, the shadow left. I woke up check the time again it was 2:25am. At that point I stood up an prayed and plead the blood of Jesus over my life. As the op rightly said being an atheist only exposes you to the enemy as you become absolutely defenceless if satan decides to look your way. Saying there is no God is good as saying there are no demons. Please pardon my writing skill Oodo sanctus? |

Zikdik: I am an atheist. Proudly so.
Two years ago, I was bitten by a spider. Without a lot of the gory details, there was a large hole on my knee and I very nearly lost my right leg. One night, writhing in pain in the A&E ward, EKSUTH and gasping for breath, I was almost certain that the end for me had come. It was a horrible feeling. My family was gathered around in tears. I wanted to cry but I couldn't. I was losing a lot of strength from writhing and struggling that later that night, I resolved to relax and give up for the worst.
I woke the next day fresh as a daisy. Whatever happened overnight, I'd never know but that was the beginning of a marked recovery. I felt fresh, whole, even happy. My leg hurt a lot less than it had since two months before then. Three weeks later, I was discharged with an almost completely healed leg. Damn! What species inflicted such a long layoff? |

Crime › Re: He's Going To Jail Soon For A Crime He Knows Not.. (urgent Advice) by peterphd(m): 10:42pm On May 20, 2016 |
MadCow1: My sincere apologies for referring to you as a bloke and not a dame, another clear case of oversight.. Thankfully it's not criminal in nature.
Now to the case. I thank you for your indulgence, as I do enjoy legal debates alot. I am not a Lawyer by profession by the way, just an Engineer who spent the better part of my childhood between Courts and Chambers. I have also read alot of legal articles and publications too.
Okay.. So let's for the benefit of doubt assume that the Police has done it's due diligence with regards to investigating the claims of the Complainant and has established a case of vehicle theft. I say this because we unfortunately are not privy to that part of the entire story.
Now the Suspect (I can't call him a defendant yet until he is legally charged before a court of law) has been caught red handed with the allegedly stolen property in his possesion. Right there and then on the spot, the Police are well within their rights to arrest the Suspect and bring him up on criminal charges of "Suspicion of Vehicle theft" and "Possesion of stolen property".
Now like you rightly said, due to the nature of the Suspects job, he is at risk of innocently coming into contact with a stolen vehicle but what you also fail to consider is that in the same vein, due to his job, he is also the ideal person to be given a stolen vehicle to either disguise (change the looks and identification tags) or chop down to pieces and fence for parts. This therefore puts him in the entire picture very well as a potential suspect directly or indirectly.
The Suspect claims (emphasis on claims) the vehicle was brought to him by a person who is currently at large. This in and of itself unfortunately does not absolve the Mechanic from his duty of due diligence before accepting a property from anyone. Nothing says he was not in conviavance with the person and nothing proves that the person even brought the car to him in the first place. In fact nothing proves that what he is saying is true at all.
If the case goes to court, the onus lies more with the Suspect to prove how he came about the vehicle. Proving theft is easy, proving being innocently in possesion of a stolen vehicle without strong evidence is tough. Especially when the Suspect according to the OP has admitted that he would not be able to comfortably identify the person who brought him the vehicle.. This casts even more doubt on his claim of innocence.
On providing an alibi for his whereabouts on the day the vehicle was stolen, all that would be able to absolve the Suspect of would be stealing the car, but it does absolutely nothing for him with regards to possesion of the vehicle. It also does nothing to prove his innocence in criminal conspiracy.
You may think this case is an open and shut case in favor of the defendant but I really and strongly disagree with you.
With regards to suing for damages, that's a civil matter. No judge in his right mind would admit a civil case in a matter that may still go to Criminal court.
Again, I do not like the aspect of paying monies to the Complainant/victim. But if his lawyers can get the case dismissed without prejudice, I will advise him to take it. Please this is just my opinion, he can seek alternative legal advise with regards to this.
My final advise at this stage I whatever the outcome is that the Mechanic learns how to protect himself against a recurrence of such and he advises his mates who are in businesses that brings them in contact with other people's properties. Always do your due diligence on every customer and get them to sign an indemnity and waiver of recourse agreement not just against issues like this but also against damages to property, loss and theft. I don't see any harm this can cause anybody. It may be annoying and irritating to the customers, but it will save him from being complicit Incase something like this happens.
Seeking a second legal opinion may also not be a bad idea to be honest.
Thanks again Madam.. I hope this explains my position better.
Madcow1.. Bright mind. |
