Many believe patriarchy is natural and feminine submission should be expected.

This is empirically wrong.

In the beginning,

Most prehistoric societies were relatively egalitarian but the patriarchal social structures did not develop until many years after the end of the Pleistocene Era. Due to social and technological development such as agriculture and domestication, men began to practise marriage in the aim of building family structure. They consanguineously settled together to encourage economic liaisons.

Men formed a social system in which the father is the head of the household, having authority over women and children, and in which lineage is traced through the male line. Men directed household production, became in charge of provisions, sought to control women in order to ensure the passing of family property to their own (male) offspring, while women were only limited to household labour and producing children because of inter-tribal exchanges of women (marriage) to build strategic alliance between families and tribes. Women acquiesced to this because then, it was seen as functional to the tribe. At the progression of religion and culture, men imposed harsh rules intending to have full dominion and control over their women and other minorities in the society.

On this cause, women have been publicly humiliated, mistreated, abused and many killed as punishment for going against those rules. This is how women became subservient beings to men. If submission were natural in women, there wouldn't be thousands of sermons daily reminding women to submit because nature doesn't need reminders to run its course. All these religious and traditional laws exist because indoctrination depends on constant reinforcement to keep oppressive ideologies alive. Women may appear weaker due to lean muscle mass but they're not. The problem is the MINDSET. Patriarchy became a mores in Africa and many part of the world. So young girls grow with the mindset that men are superior due to environmental indoctrination. Thereby nurturally believing that men are more important in the society. This is a wrong ideology that has led to many inhumane acts on women. No one should raise his or her girl child with such impression. Equality is not arrogance, it is self realisation.

Physical fight should not be in your options when dealing with your fellow man, not to talk of a female or one's wife. Engaging in one makes you an uncultured being, a savage. Even in our tertiary institutions, it is forbidden to engage in physical duel in the school premises, when you do such, 'you have graduated automatically'.

N.B: If you are talking about the lack emotional intelligence, I think you need it couple with the social intelligence as well.

Your opinion looks weird to me. So men don't have any excuse but to hit a woman right? If a woman abuse you, you ought to return the abuse in the like manner, simple! Don't you have mouth again? If a woman shout at you, do so in the same manner; if she abuse you, do so in the same manner as well. And if you know you can't stomach that walk away and ignore, period! What makes a real man is your ability to control your emotions, not your emotions controlling you.

And the worst thing is one of the major religions we have in this country, if not both of them supports husbands beating of their wives.

Sincerely, I'm in a 50-50 position. I look forward to seeing a leader that will restructure this country like you said; from fiscal federalism, to state policing, implementing some of 2014 Confab Reports. I prefer PDP ideology to APC. But there is a problem, I prefer Tinubu to Atiku. I see Tinubu as the only one who can beat the Northern Oligarchs at their games. I'm not a tribalist, I don't want Atiku (he is a Fulani man). The effect of Atiku coming to power will give majority of those illiterate Fulani to continue to perpetrate their heinous crime. Believe me, Atiku is for the north.

I hope the best candidate wins. We are all fed up with happenings in this country.

Osinbajo is someone I perceive won't be Nepotistic, or tribalistic in appointments . Will not tolerate incompetence and abuse of power. I believe under his govt there'd be consequences, he has done it before while acting.i see him putting Nigeria on the path to greatness and on world's map as a country to reckon with in technology etc. In fact I expect so much from him, if he gets there and fails, then there's something fundamentally wrong with our country that's beyond the physical eyes.

Lol, why are you having a second thought? I think you are yet to understand the Nigeria political system. To be frank with you, there is nothing special about PYO. He is more different from Buhari. Nigeria at this time need people that will wrestle the country from some few oligarchs that put this country to ransom. PYO and Obi are small fry compared to these faceless cabals. I am not saying tinubu is not a good politician but he was a tool used by the Nigerian retired generals the real cabals to regain power when jonathan had broken loose from his dog chain. Obasanjo dismantled pdp from within with his key allies decamping to apc where his fellow retired general buhari and former head of state was waiting to be the next civilian president. Why i know that corruption is a major problem in our society these retired generals are the reason Nigeria will forever go backwards because they will do anything to stay relevant as not to lose their riches or be put in jail. See as all the presidential aspirants have to run to them to seek their approval. We have so far enjoyed 23 years of civilian rule since 1999 but 15 years out of it has been 2 retired generals obj and buhari, while yaradua the younger brother of another general and defacto number to obj was also president until his untimely death. Even though jonathan has no military associations he was made vice president because he was chosen by obj and after yaradua's death he became president in line with the constitution. Osinbajo has no political will and he will be caged like a local dog. A pastor who claims to be a man of God and could not even lead his people to grace as the number 2 citizen of this country. He is more scared of the cabal than using his so called calling to God to put this country on the right path. Nigeria is not the UK, US, Germany or France and the only two people that have the political will to rule and face the true cabals is Tinubu or Atiku the rest will be yes men put by them. Use one of them as president and add a young vp who can learn what is needed to reposition the most populace black nation.

In politics, loyalty is the key to scale up the ladder. Now, I understand why the late Abba Kyari is seen as an insensitive personality to the Nigerian citizens. He was a loyal servant who only danced to the tune of his master-Buhari. He never outshine his master. But Osinbajo case is different, he is a badstabber who is only going on a wild goose chase.

● Most marriages in churches nowadays are nothing different from endurance, not enjoyment (mine emphasis).

● You hardly see romance culture in xtian homes. The romance culture is forbidden and it is a sin against the holy spirit in marriage according to some church doctrines (mine emphasis).

Ever wonder that the xtian God is not married, his son had no wife, his holy spirit has none. Yet, the three-in-one God says he does not want marriage in heaven. But on earth, they said he said he hates divorce.

And Osinachi, and a host of other women died in marriage to make heaven that is not marriage compliant.

God gave me the wisdom to quit mine since. Though blessed with two lovely kids, but I have no regret that I made that decision of leaving such a worthless idiotic marriage. Poor him, he's walking around with just one ball in his scrotum. I destroyed one with my fury kick he nearly died that day o.

That action of mine towards him till date I am not regretting at all. I have lost so much in the hand of my ex husband which time won't permit me to say it all. I wouldn't say I was a perfect wife, no, I wasn't, I have my flaws too, but despite my flaws I tried all I could to make my marriage work. I am not happy because I am a divorcee, it's not something I am proud of. But sometimes something doesn't worth the stress,the abused and the insults so one had to let it go.

I won't say much regarding this, but the bold step I took to quit the marriage save my life till this moment. The second wife he took will probably not give birth again in this life because he hit the poor lady and damaged everything in her tommy, it was a miracle that she survived it and she too kissed the marriage goodbye after she survived. That was wisdom on her own part.

Please and please, erase that mentality of 'I am not happy of being a divorcee.' Don't live your life to please the society. Your happiness should come within (though I know it is relative as well). Never forget that attachment is the root of all sufferings while detachment is the root of all happiness. You have every reason to be proud and happy about your decision. YOU ARE STILL HUMAN!
