Oh mehn!!! Let me help u a little here. The summary is this. Privatization would get rid of those consultants that'll come to the wards once in a week and earn fat salaries even if he decides not to. No one is saying pharmacists want to earn more than doctors, u dull fellow. Ud be paid now depending on ur inputs. Decide not to come to the wards for two weeks and lets see what will hit ur salary. It'll keep everyone on his toes. This way, the patients'll get better care. Y do always worry bout pharmacy sef? This worry has deluded ur mind. I quit mehn!
paid based on input will even worsen your case.in that situation they ll even find out that the pharmacist is redundant and does nothing more than dispense drugs.come to lng bonny.the consultant radiologist doesnt come more than twice a week yet still gets paid in millions a month far above the radiographer who is there everyday.ask if you doubt me.

YourHealthlabs: Whatever you pay your doctors in your private hospital is your business. If i decide to employ locum doctors and pay them N30,000 in my clinic, you can puke. It's my business. The Doctor can look elsewhere.

Fashola employs locum/contract Docs. Go to the Lasg H.S.C at broad street and see how they jostle for the crumbs.... do they have a choice? bloody NO!
no problem.privatize the hospitals and leave it solely in the hands of a businessman and see whose salary is used as a yardstick.go to shell and find out who the highest paid health professional is.forget story.this is an ego fight for you guys but unfortunately you will NEVER be treated EQUAL as a doctor.if you want to be treated equal as one, buy yourself a jamb form and do the needful
Gosh! R u this unintelligent or it's an online thing? Did you read the post at all?

They
therefore called on the government to
privatize medical services in private hospitals.
“We put on record that 50% of total health
budget is dedicated to the payment of only
consultant doctors in Federal Health
Institutions. This is the main reason why
Nigerian Medical Association and Medical and
Dental Consultants of Nigeria continue to
agitate against Integrated Personal Pay Roll
System (IPPRS) because it subsequently will
detect those who earn double salary.
Government therefore needs to privatize
medical services in public hospitals in
Nigeria.”

Did u read this part?? Who says a business man will pay a doctor over a pharmacist? Pathetic boy!
what does privatization mean?

YourHealthlabs: My brother please stop deceiving gullible Nigerians, your pathologists can not differentiate between Serratia sp and klebsiella sp, they can not decipher the meanings of CLED, NYCA, MSA except they consult a Clinical Scientist grounded in principles, methodology and Clinical interpretation of Medical laboratory tests and willing to lecture them during clinical seminars.
Nigerians heard about the UBTH CMD that spilled 18 pcv samples from the emergency ward, trying to do a less technical but very important job of an experienced lab assistant. grin
Your Pathologists are lazy and 'Wardophobic' (my words), they are MBBS graduates who hate going to the wards so they seek the easy way out 'camping' in laboratories. I don't believe they should earn fat pays for scribbling down words like 'hyperglycemia in HTN patient with known DM, please check glycosylated HB' Clinical Scientists can do that and even more. A B.mls Scientist can do a blood film and do his reporting- 'Hypochromic, Normocytic anaemia' without the help of a Pathologist. He's trained for that.
American Govt. are training Clinically inclined Doctors of CLS (D.cls) to cut cost and do away with overpaid govt-employed paths in the Medicaid/medicare structure.

Hope you heard what happened at FMC asaba? Scientists dragged your Pathologists to court challenging the legality of their 'lordship' over Scientists which is at variance with MLSCN act under the law. The Scientists won,of course the law is clear. You can't head the LABORATORY Dept. You can go to the mortuary and create your Pathology department.
B.MLS are degree holders just like you and will break any articificial glass ceiling you place over their professional advancement.

Your radiologists can not prepare films and imagings, they collect fat pays 800k-1m as consultants and report to work only twice a month, delegating their duties to neonate house officers.

Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria under JOHESU have the ability to cause nationwide scarcity of drugs. They will simply liase with NApmed and idumota and that's it.

All over the world there are Consultant Pharmacists, Consultant BioMedical Scientists, Consultant Physios. Nigeria will not be an exception. JOHESU must take everything it's professionals deserve this time.
funny.you manage to classify anaemia and you think you are now Gods? Lol.a 3rd mbbs candidate will do the same thing.the day you can differentiate ALL from AML on a blood film, i will take you serious but till then i dont think you deserve big money for being able to do simple MP and full blood count.

zomby: All Nigerian corrupt leaders should be condemned together regardless of which part of the country they are from.
I just see no common sense in defending a corrupt leader simply because he's from my village. This type of absurd mentality will not take us anywhere even if we try...I think Nigerians should be enlightened enough to understand the importance of unity to fight corruption accordingly in Nigeria if we want things to change for better.

People like Orji Kalu should not be entertained even if his n@ked pictures were posted. He is not a successful businessman or a role model, he remains one of the criminals that stole from us.
i agree! But it is also absurd that we should see billionaires that have benefitted from a lopsided federal structure as models.it is irritating and even offensive to say the least.this country has NEVER encouraged merit.how do you want me to take dangote or otedola seriously in a country where my daughter is evaluated with a common entrance cut off mark of 140 and someone else uses 2 as his cut off.i.e he just manages to write his name on the exam script and the position is his.abeg leave matter..grin

Paediatrician, Psychiatrist, Neurosurgeon etc are all specialists. They are not resident doctors. Resident doctors are the ones undergoing training to become consultants(specialists). When they become consultants, the total hours of training is factored into their salary .

Note, the stated salaries of allied health workers are for their most senior staff.

Meanwhile, d relatively must be restored or let the health institutions be privatised. U have to earn according to ur input
simple as ABC.what do the pharmacists do in our hospitals other than dispense drugs?how is this different from what the road side chemist does? How many of them have advised doctors on drug therapy which they claim they do? Our pharmacists dont research.sickle cell disease is a problem here.have pharmacists gone into research to discover new drugs? All they do is get the formulation from foreign companies and rebrand. Our pharmacists HAVE NOT DONE THEIR JOBS BUT WANT TO START DOING WARD ROUNDS.infact they say they want to JOIN docs in their rounds.why dont they go ahead and do their rounds solo? Funny lot.all you do is dispense drugs BUT you want to earn the same as a surgeon or obstetrician who sleeps in the theatre.laughable!

If Orji is your man and inspiration, may God bless you.
But from what I know and have seen, Orji is not even close. He is a typical okrika man who has no taste, no action and no vision.

Do you even believe that this man is still trying to get back into politics? For what? To steal more money?
Real big boys don't need to be a governor to make money or to feel relevant.
Again, Orji Kalu will not be respected until he has what it takes to rub shoulders with real Nigerian big boys like Mike Adenuga, Dangote and many others.

Sorry.
please reference my post above yours.thanks. Will you respect him if he STEALS to get to dangotes level? You are speaking out of both sides.

ilugunboy: Simple...you can't compare...because there is just no reason to do so.

In the SW...the old part of the towns and the sparkling brand new areas live side by side....just like in most northern towns of Nigeria.

It's only the East that have no historical infrastructures that predates the 1920's that they could point to....and it was not that they were leveled by war, it is simply that Ibos started the art of building houses after the civil war. Prior then...the best were thatched roof mud houses...while most live in the bushes and forest.
beautiful.please look for an objective observer to go to both regions and compare.i have lived in ibadan for a while.compare it to enugu in standard of living, city aesthetics.my brother enugu is far better abeg.ibadan is just a far bigger city.

zomby: This man is a great example of a jobless bushman.
You need nothing but your actions to prove that you're a big boy.

For the past 8 years this man hasn't done anything constructive to positively impact the development of this country. And this is simply because majority of his wealth was accumulated when he was the governor of Abia State.
I guess, this is a sign that he is mentally bored and has nothing better to do, but take pictures to show Nigerians that he is still relevant.

Could someone please tell this joker that we are not impressed until he starts rubbing shoulders with people like Dangote, Mike Adenuga and other real big boys, who clearly understand what needs to be done to get this country back on track...
dangote, yes.please remove the others.dont call billionaires who have piggy backed on our common wealth.is otedola not sole importer of diesel? Even your dangote is a and has been a beneficiary of government.fact! ilugunboy: I know a pathetic scum like you as usual will always spring up to his defence.

Orji Uzor is one of those reasons that people still molest you by telling you to go back to your villages....but they know you can't.

Even in the midst of Boko killings...rather than go to the East...most still find their way west ward.

I know Abia....and not just Aba with the palms of my hand...it's a shytee-hole. One town state (a very horrible stinking town of Aba)....after several years of creation, the state capital is still a One-Main road glorified village.
the igbos are no where near the sea.theres no seaport.they just got an international airport.survived a three year war that nearly wiped them out.the only viable infrastructure they share with rest of the country is in the west YET they manage to make something of their lives.i repeat MINUS LAGOS, CAN YOU REALLY COMPARE THE WEST TO THE EAST? I cant.one would swear the west was were the war was fought.truth be told,i cant even compare my village to its counterpart in the west.grin

for those who dont know, the relativity used to be 4:2:1.7 for the doctor, pharmacist and nurses/other health professionals respectively.but this has been eroded and is not proper.
Health › Re: JOHESU Declares 5-day Warning Strike From Jan 15 by phantom(m): 4:32pm On Jan 07, 2014
0key: Salary issue is another area we have to consider. Salary is worked out based on the nature of d profession, job evaluation, total hours of schooling, total hours of work input. In d medical profession, surgeons earn more than physicians in US,Britain n other developed countries. Other allied health professionals earn far less than d physicians. The lowest salary is earned by Paediatrician/ psychiatrist ( average of $200,000 per annum) while the highest salary is received by Orthopaedic surgeon/ Neurosurgeon/ Cardiothoraxic Surgeons (average of $550,0000 per annum).

Nurses receive average salary of $90,000 per annum, pharmacist is on average salary of $110,000per annum, Physiotherapist $75,000, Lab scientists receive 75-80,000 per annum.

The salary disparity should be addressed ASAP following the relativity ( or ratio) stated above. Lets encourage d ongoing revolution in the healthcare system to bring the much needed change.
God bless you! Administration should not be left to the doctors alone.it would be better left to ANY health professional WITH EXPERIENCE IN HEALTH MANAGEMENT after all our cmd is a doctor but hes making a mess of the place.

Google across the world you will find same thread. You may check CNN most satisfying profession 2012/13. So JOHESU members are very happy people.
But, how do you handle NMA telling govt to withdrawal our allowances using the minister of health, that govt should stop recognizing health professionals as ''consultant'' against international norm, that only doctors must head hospitals in nigeria against best practices globally, that skipping of level 10 should stop despite years of collective agreement on it. That our specialists who are already being paid specialist allowance should be delisted.I can go on and on.

There may not be peace in health sector until NMA become realistic in its thought and embrace global beast practices.

All physicians do is ask for nu complaints ?? Do U know how Blatantly Ignorant u sound ?? I won't even justify that statement with an answer.
The only advice I will give to u is to, one day, run a theatre session wit a surgeon n see how 'Easy' d work is.
If u don't know..Nurses these days do not do more than taking vital signs, administering drugs (mostly oral sef cos d I.v's r a Drs duty) n making sure d patient is comfy..not taking anything away from them..anything more than that n d Drs on call r called.
Do u want t compare d hours ?? A typical Dr shift is from 8 to 4 minus call duties n emergencies..no day offs. Nurses run shifts wit day offs , public hols etc..same wit All d oda health workers. Tell me, if d pay is according to work hours who will get more, much more?
Drs do a lot more than they're appreciated for.
Ask d wives of Drs n maybe you'll 've an inkling of wat they go thru instead of coming t display ur ignorance.

Bottom line.. A Dr has enuff knowledge to play d role /work in d capacity of everyother health worker. How many physiotherapists or nurse can accurately diagnose any ailment outside their limited scope.??

Drs have and WILL Always be d head of a medical team if u don't like it, am sure there is a lagoon or transformer nearby, u can do d needful.
