Kukutente23:Bigotry doesn't have to be tribal and I ain't claiming you're tribalistic but what's clear is your religious inclination towards your opinion that shows disdain towards the person in discuss. You'd rather stick to your point in as much as it paints the opinion you wanted even IF IN CONTRARY TO PROVEN EVENTS. And don't mix it together, a very successful wealthy individual of her time would own slaves. They all did: from kings to chiefs to colonial governors, wealthy people, influentials and the likes, they all owned domestic slaves in those days and she ain't no exception. THAT She kept and used the services of domestic slaves doesn't translate to she still traded those slaves. In the latter part of her years, slave trade had even been abolished. What the europeans required then were agro resources and that's what trade were reduced to. |
Kukutente23:The bolded says a lot. YOU ONLY GO ALONG WITH THE RECORD THAT SUIT YOUR BIGOTRY. To reiterate, she changed her way when she learnt the difference between domestic slavery (that she was familiar with)and the colonial slave treatment. And as presented in my previous post, by the time she was banished the second and final time, many of these SLAVES now tagged RETURNEES were already returning back (many who bought their freedom from the South American plantations and returned back to different places on African soil before finding their ways to Lagos again. This was even years after the last slave trade) and were getting re-introduced into the society with freedom of trade and other benefits, the policies which MADAM EFUNROYE TINUBU started fighting against that led to her fall out with the king. EVEN WHEN DEN TELL PERSON LIES, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DISCERN IT FROM THE TRUTH BY LOOKING AT TIMEFRAME AND EVENT. And what's more? She left Lagos finally for EGBA years before her death and even though, her estate of wealth didn't match her Lagos achievement, she continued in success (and exportation) till her death and as nature would have it, she became the FIRST IYALODE OF EGBA and YORUBALAND during her stay there. PS: THAT FFK SAID THE ABOVE (which maybe fake or truth) IS LIKELY OVER THE FACT THAT SHE EVER TRADED SLAVES AND NOT NECESSARILY THAT SHE NEVER GOT SORRY FOR PARTICIPATING. THE PEOPLE SAW NEEDS TO IMMORTALIZED HER FOR TURNING BACK AND FIGHTING AGAINST SUCH INHUMANE ACTIVITY. AND THIS WAS EVEN LONG BEFORE AMALGAMATION. SHE DIED YEARS BEFORE THE AMALGAMATION TOO. |
Throwback:YOU are definitely apologetic towards the DEFENDANT for whatever reasons best known to you but if it's tribal affiliation, then it seems stuuuupid as the victims could be girls/descents from/of any tribe. Besides, the investigation submitted a confirmation of crime having had first-hand contact with the crime scene, the witnesses, doctor's report, police report, the accusers, the accused and others but you online is now all out to cunningly DISAGREE WITH THE FINAL OUTCOME. If you've been physically present around the crime scene, or know any of the party, it would've seemingly look a little sane but this....... |
Tomorrow will tell.... |
Another $millions crashed but good news is the taxpayers would help facilitate the procurement of more war machines that's likely gonna suffer similar fate THANK GOD NO LIFE WAS LOST |
Wow |
Congrats, brainies. |
Wish them all more success |
Throwback:This epistle of yours looks defensive against the judgement and the children cum victims. It is very unnecessary and UNFORTUNATE |
I don't understand why people are surprised. Haven't Dubai experienced flood before? Is this a standalone flood the city's ever witnessed? |
Kukutente23:Perhaps you've read a distorted and muschievous records of her life online, written by many who hardly got any relationship with the YORUBAs, who didn't know her and who relies on heresays. She was banished twice from Lagos. First was by Akintoye when she was proven too powerful in the tradition and polity of the then Lagos colony, that the chiefs were feeling slighted by her executive endeavors. She returned after the death of Akintoye and subsequently worked for the installation of Dosunmu who would later banish her too because she wanted the liberty of trade giving to the RETURNEES (note that these were even some former slaves who, returned back) reduced because their sagacity and knowledge in commerce were making them gaining increasing wealth at the detriments of her own business empire which was then experiencing a steady decline. I HAPPENED TO SEE A STAGE PLAY ABOUT HER EXPLOITS AND LIVELIHOOD AROUND THE LATE EIGHTIES AND THERE WAS ALSO AN NTA SERIES ABOUT HER AROUND EARLY OR MID 90s TOO THAT DETAILED HER REALIZATION OF THE TREATMENT THE SLAVES RECIEVED FROM THE EUROPEANS THAT MADE HER STOP AND FOUGHT OFF SLAVERS AND OTHER LOCAL TRADERS WHO WERE ALSO DEALING IN SUCH TILL IT WAS NO MORE. That's why she was duly immortalized with that square till today. |
Impressive. Microsoft looking to tap into their knowledge of AI but as seasoned business moguls, they still retained their partnership pending the time their plan materialize and also as back up plan if the journey into the creation of their own AI-like software fail to yield desired fruit. JUST GREAT |
Drunk driving at it again |
Good move and hope it sees the light of the day |
Kukutente23:She did. Mind you, her trade didn't end with slaves but as successful businesswoman, she exported palm oil and palm fruits, cocoa and cassava (in its early days) |
More of this expected soonest as LEKKI DEEP SEAPORT is expected to berth bigger ships than APAPA PORT and ultimately help reduce the amount spent on logistics and shipping. Importation and exportation poise to get better. |
Fascinating storyline/article. But the choice lies with the IGALA,people whom they want to associate with before and after the disintegration of this amalgamation. One thing I'm confident of is the fact that KOGI would cease to exit once NIGERIA dissolve. Each part would, by default, gravitate towards their heritage and tradition, and the tribe upholding such. |
Ekalerdehan:Go back to verify what I wrote. FASHOLA expanded the road to ten lanes with further space for rail line inbetween but he couldn't tarred it eventhough he was constructing three different interchanges at different locations along the road for seemless navigation into developing districts. SANWO OLU came into power to conclude the interchanges (although with toll facilities in agreement with FG) AND (observe this properly) TARRED THE PORTION OF THE ROAD UP UNTIL MILE 2 to ease the burden of the commutters along the axis. The tarred portion's been there since his first year of his first tenure (that he declared state of emergency on delapidated roads AMBODE left about town), ask around. |
Ruke1989:PELEWURA still has her named stamped on a place on LAGOS ISLAND for her exploits. She successfully liberated her people from exploitation of colonialism. She ain't a standalone heroine, EFUNROYE TINUBU was another. She also has her name stamped at a location on LAGOS ISLAND for fighting off the slave masters over slave trade. Worthy of note is the fact, that she was initially part of the system until she realized the horror the slaves underwent in transit and at the other side. She put her feet down that such trade would cease to happen throughout YORUBALAND and she saw to it. YORUBA women had always been liberal to stand for what they believed in, even as far as for men's right, from time immemorial. We have had many courageous activists amongst them. |
He played the game totally wrong. SCAM |
But when others were sacked for someone else from other parties, that was democracy abi? SMH |
I believe somebody's just changed his old advisers. |
Edoreborn:Don't pray to find yourself in his shoe: that's absolutely not enjoyment but endurance. If only he is a magician, he would be glad to turn this around for ANYTHING BETTER. |
Fingers crossed |
How governance works. You don't have to be toxic to point out ANOMALIES, be civil but discreet. I hope the state government look into these points, correct them or publicly tell us why they are so if they are misunderstood. That shouldn't be a hard nut to crack, should it? |
If the second in command could look this haggard at just 43, what then is the fate of guys on the lowest rungs of the, latter? Methink those commandants at the top are supposed to be in lavishly opulence to be able to attract the interest of the magnificent number in,the realm of cultism. I guess I was wrong? BUT THEN, WHAT'S ACTUALLY THE GAINS OFCULTISM APART FROM THE USUAL BLOOD-SHEDDING CAMPAIGN THAT INDUCES FEAR INTO PEACEFUL DEMOGRAPH? |
Generalmystic:If the road is utmostly important, the state government can take it up, rebuild it and give the receipt to the FG who pays later. TINUBU did it with state IGR when allocation was siezed, FASHOLA did it with expansion of lagos-badagry from six lane to ten and the construction of new three interchange bridges along the expressway for seemless inter-connectivity into surrounding areas not initially considered, even though he left not being able to finish off all of them, AMBODE did it with IKEJA AIRPORT ROAD (even enlarging it from six to ten lanes), SANWO OLU himself did it with the portion of badagry expressway that FASHOLA couldn't tarred by getting it tarred as far as the MILE 2 axis, and completed the three interchange bridges along the route (claiming them as LASG properties that they rightly are). DAPO ABIODUN of OGUN STATE just took up one FG road too. https://businessday.ng/opinion/article/respite-for-motorists-travellers-as-ogun-takes-over-construction-of-lagos-ota-abeokuta-road/ At least, as serious government, do palliative works on the road to get it a little more condusive for motorists till you can get the FG attention. And contrary to falsehood being peddled already here, IT'S UNARGUABLY TRUE THAT THE APC GOVERNMENT DID MORE PROJECTS IN AND FOR THE SOUTH EAST THAN THE ENTIRE PDP 16YRS. |
Jostoman:IN as much as it's set to favour APC, the rule of law shouldn't matter, abi? |
Like Oliver Twist, we aspire for more, we hope for far better Anything that turns us from consuming economy to manufacturing is highly welcome GOD BLESS NIGERIA |
Make dem self go buy o, IMF dey there to lend dem money if dem no get. Abi Americans talk say the market no be for sale again? |
Impressive act of a nationalist |
As expected. We can't submit our justice/judiciary system to the sentence of the cyber mob whose judgement heavily relies on their HATE, EMOTION and/or IGNORANCE. |
