Hmmm. Finally out of ghost mode. Followed this thread in my first pregnancy though it resulted to still birth, the second to miscarriage. Congratulations mama, so sorry for the initial losses. May God convert your tears to those of joy this time. Were the earlier issues investigated and was anything done about it? If not, I'd advise you and your DH get tested for your rhesus factors. if you are rhesus negative, please inform your doctor/oby/gyn for proper care and advise. Sometimes not knowing the underlying cause of a condition creates multiple issues and rhesus has done more harm than good to couples.

Hi well @Bab5 already responded. If your spouse already did a 2 year program, then she has qualified for PGWP. However, if she wants to renew, you'll have to wait till she gets the new study permit and send it to IRCC using the webform. As for the number, it's on CIC's website, I don't have it.

So my canny journey started in 2016, please see my TL below.

Applied October 2016 and refused November 2016 (paper)

NOC was updated from C to B (2017 Long story of preparation)

Third app: SOWP

Applied January 19, 2018 and Refused February 24, 2018. (Paper)

Fourth app: SOWP

This application came with a lot of surprises.

Online route

Upfront medical updated: March 29
Approval and ppt request: October 19 (33weeks)
Ppt submitted: October 22 (the rest is history).

After using the whole of my family's documents in my previous apps, I decided to go for @dodoyemi's formula (by just using the required docs stated online), the statement we submitted was 3 months old and I uploaded it in a very scattered manner. When we started getting worried, I submitted CSE and got a response from Lagos embassy, hubby called IRCC and he was informed that the app was in London (U.K), I sent them a mail and was told "under active review". After 4 weeks hubby sent a mail to London but Lagos replied, my last mail to London two weeks later was very long and should have pushed any angry VO to make a decision because at that point i gave up hope and just wanted them to either reject or approve the app but i got the same one lined response. Eitherways, I was already preparing for EE.

Hubby submitted our EE profile on October 16, we were hoping to meet the October 17 draw, only for CIC to have conducted the draw on the 15th and the approval message came to my profile on October 19. Are this preparations tied? (I'm still trying to phantom the psychology of IRCC). Plus hubby's work permit expires January (due to passport expiry) and CIC issued me a 2 months visa till January (I'm still surprised).

A lot of intertwined stories but as always God is still on the throne....@dodoyemi thank you for everything.

My one penny to spouses of workers on here is that;

1.) IRCC's priorities are students and PR applicants (if I had known this, I won't be in this country by now instead of all d shakers I gave)

2.) Please start something towards EE, a step in the right direction is better than no step.

Abeg I they go pack my bag before dem change their mind.

Yes oh... I just picked it up now. You wouldn't believe that application was handled by Nairobi. I still can't believe that they approved my visa, this is just God's favor. The people are even so stingy with pgwp time. Infact visa started counting from October 11th day of approval and end Nov 30 next year. But I ma shine in canny, the time ain't a thing.
For September and October applicants, it appears that them Nairobi angels are handling your applications just pray for God's favor in the sight of the VO.

I once said that they were responding to spouses of students faster, someone contradicted me. I think that's what it looks like now. They just want workers to apply for EE straight up.

I see the lengthy comment by the former staff as unrelated to our current situation, the fraction quotes above may likely be where our case is. I do not know exactly when he/she made that comment, but many of the situations described has been improved. For instance it doesn't take RCMP or CBSA any long time to scan their databases to trace the applicant's records using their Passport Numbers. Again, we can't be talking of lower paid or inexperienced staff when CIC claim to have the best immigration system, or can they argue that poorly trained and paid staff are the ones delivery the best of immigration services? If yes, do they only process those from Nigeria? Because our counterparts from other countries are getting responses - in less than 4 weeks! Again, I don't find this relevant.

Of a truth I suspect it is a quota thing. But that being said, let's not also forget that all the provinces operate somehow independent of others. And the possibility of all provinces hitting their quotas at same time is not large enough. Assuming they updated background check passed, send people for medical and etc, we can now make the argument that all is set; but final decision depends on quota. But this is not the case.

Talking about immigrants not voting or that the immigration system care less about immigration is not true. Canada depend largely on immigration to survive. For instance, latest federal government data shows that Canada had just fewer than 500,000 international students at the end of 2017; one can only but imagine how much this adds to the funding of Canadian Institutions. So they value us! The problem we have here is "a Nigerian problem". I am hopeful though that delay doesn't necessarily mean denial.

Months ago the whole world was out for Trump for separating children from their parents. At this point I am not sure we are in any way different/far from that situation. It is worse when we are legally (by Canada's Law) entitled to have our spouses and kids with us - so long as we can afford to care for them, only to be delayed or denied that access.

Two weeks ago I sent a tweet CIC's twitter page complaining of this same delay. They responded, informing me that they cannot tackle specific (personal) cases. At this point I suggest we all comment there (respectfully) and ask them to look into cases of SOWP applications from Nigeria. I study here and also work for the Government, and to be honest I find it hard to concentrate and study or do my work. I am mostly depressed and worried to see my family and I know many of us are in same situation. That is not good!

Well said. I made a comment on their Twitter page as well, didn't state the country tho I guess that's why there's no response. Looking at the timelines here, I can only say it is well.

Hello house, I’m the one who told the house about my son and I’s Approval without medical. Well we are in Canada already but not with a bit of drama at our POE.
The day we got in, our passports were collected for verification and we were asked to sit. Few minutes later I was called and asked if I came in from the US, I said no and provided my travel tickets. The guy asked me this question more than 2ce. He later told me that was there a time I did medical during the processing time, I saw No.
He said Madam pls seat, he called his other colleagues and they said it’s not possible. Then they started giving me direct eye contact and I was just staring at them without fear.
After about 45minutes, I was called and told I should have been sent back but they have checked and seen that it wasn’t my fault, I will be allowed in on conditions.
1. I must the medical in 2months for my son and I
2. I can’t teach and interact with children also my son can’t attend daycare
3. Our permit can only be valid for 6 months after which we must exist Canada if we don’t provide the medical.
The issue has since been resolved but that was an experience on its own. Will share that tomorrow
My advise to anyone still doing this process is do your medical no matter what VFS says. They told there that Nigerians can’t be allowed in without medical only if they aren’t staying more than 6 months

This is serious, thank God you were able to resolve that without extreme consequences. Where was your application processed please?

I'm soo happy.. Passport request mail received today and before my husband could have access to his mail I opened the mail first, I was in class when the email dropped because I always look forward to any email he received. My heart was beating fast and I started crying in class that my professor came to hug because I couldn't hold back my tears of joy.

Please do not give up and keep trying, he has been denied 4 times (rejected twice for study permit and twice for visitor visa) we just gave SOWP (5 attempt) a try and Alhamdulilah it was approved .

Hi everyone, I want to contribute my quota and I stand to be corrected.

For people going to VFS recently, I see a lot of them joining queues. Please that queue is for S.A. applicants. *If you arrive there before they open the gate at 8am, there will always be a queue for S.A. that is because they only attend to 100 applicants daily.* A friend of mine made a mistake of joining the queue but after all d back and forth, there was clarification. For Canada applicants just tell the security that you are for Canada once the gates are opened. You will be allowed in once you show them your passport or d copy.

Work permit is now 12 weeks.

I don't know if this is a new trend but @croyance and one other moniker got passport request about 2 months after medical passed. I'll advise you just chill till after standard processing time passed and send CIC a mail. It will end well by God's Grace

Seems like having a travel history is a double edged sword. CIC is just so unpredictable, I applied 28th February , no medical request till now , just eligibility and background checks still under review and processing till now . My only trust is in God.
