Let me tell you what I think will happen...
When you're kids are a little older and your wife gets a demanding job, you will be compelled to hire a house help because she can no longer cope with house chores, work and catering for the kids and if the house help is pretty, you will either bang her and get her pregnant because she's doing what you'd wife isn't, or you will get depressed and tired of complaining and begin to cheat....
If all you have said so far is exactly what is happening, then you're not unreasonable, you're not selfish..you're just a typical man looking out for his family and trying to secure a future.
If your wife is sensible and can see the future, she will become flexible and try to adapt to your dreams for the family.
Keep trying to make her see reasons that the path she's threading now will make things only get worse for your family.

Pardon my long write up but I needed to get a perspective from a fresh eye/mind. I’m married for 3 years now with 2infants.

Am I overthinking or does my wife have other plans?

My dad is an established accountant with over 3 decades of experience at the highest level of his occupation in 2 multinationals. He is now retired and consults. Presently, he lives a day at a times cos he barely has plans for his firm (he is over 70 and doesn’t have anybody he’s training his my mom).

I have a good career earning almost a million monthly with side gigs that keeps me liquid (meeting all my family’s basic needs). Monthly upkeep of 200k mainly for feeding while I pay utilities and still bring out cash (no fixed amount) from time to time. Presently am setting up a firm for contracting and consultancy.

My wife is a caterer (she loves cooking and baking) whom I have supported over the years. She has gotten much better and I have invested in her business. Presently she has all the basic requirements for her work and she works from home. We live in a 4 bed and converted one to her studio (fully furnished - AC tables shelves etc).

Over the years I have encouraged her to focus on entrepreneurship. This will give her total control of her time. This way the kids get her attention while she handles business which I hope to one day retire into. I make sure she doesn’t contribute her personal funds to the home as I advise her to save for rain days. I have encouraged her to work closely with my dad to earn experience as they share same profession hopefully take over the firm in time while I groom mine for which she is the major shareholder (I’m not even a shareholder).

Overall, do not look for a 9-5 like me, let’s grow a business.

However, she applies for jobs here and there. Just this morning she woke up as early as 4:30am applying for a customer service position and had to wake me up to correct her cover note.

At this point I feel like giving up on her. I feel she just wants to have a paying Job for whatever reason. But I know know the downsides; no time for the kids, 40-80% of income goes on expenses, work stress, regrets - now you can’t quit because you have to prove you can do it.

Am I being unreasonable telling her not to work and focus on developing her business skills?

NB: I have never discouraged her in her business rather encouraged/ advised and funded.

Modified: for those insisting I let her be, how do we plan our future if we share separate visions?? When has working ever made anyone rich??

If she gets an IOC opportunity I’ll definitely support tho, but these are not the toes she’s applying for 100k -300k

Kindly avoid anything that has to do with Nigerian female. They are driven by emotions. Nothing on the upstairs. You can see from the way they respond to you clear write up. Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Friday, announced palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal on the citizens as he flagged off the dualisation of the 8.3km Akobo-Ojurin-Odogbo Barracks-Olorunda-Abaa junction Road.

The Governor, in his speech at the flag off, said: “We know that things are getting harder because the subsidy on PMS has been removed and this has made transportation cost increase further. Well, I have already set up a committee to look into what we can do about increasing civil servants’ salaries but I know that everyone in Oyo State is not a civil servant. So, we have decided to deploy more Omituntun buses to ease the transportation worries. I have also directed that there should be no increase in the fare paid on these buses.

“Also, school children and our senior citizens will board these buses at half-price. We will continue to look into other ways of easing the burdens.”

On the road project, the Governor said: “We are here today for the flag-off of the dualization of the 8.3km Akobo-Ojurin-Odogbo Barracks-Olorunda-Abaa junction Road. This road is vital to the people of Lagelu Local Government Area as it connects Akobo to Olorunda Abaa and it will bring development to this axis.”

Governor Makinde said the flag off was the fulfillment of a promise he made to the people of the area during his campaign.

He said, “Today, we are keeping our promise by flagging off the construction. You can see that the work has already started. The equipment is here and the contractor has promised that it will be completed in 12 months. From today, we are counting 12 months. We have paid 30 per cent to the contractor and we expect that the work will progress.

“I had wanted to just fix the road as a single lane but I know that with the rate at which this axis is developing, dualizing the road is the best. So, that was how we decided to bite the bullet and dualize it once and for all.”

The Governor asked for the cooperation of the people since the dualisation of the road would necessarily result in some houses having to give way to the road. He, however, promised that compensation to affected people would be prompt.

He later named the road after Chief Nyesom Wike, immediate past Governor of Rivers State.

Engr Makinde also seized the occasion to talk about the Light-Up Oyo project.

He said, “Let me also use this opportunity to update you on the Light-Up Oyo project. We know this project is one of the ways we are ensuring economic security for our people because when the lights are on, our people are able to stay outside longer and carry out economic activities. As promised, we carried out the audit and we have reached an alignment with the contractors. So, I assure you that in the next two to three weeks, all the lights will be back on and then we will continue to expand the project.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has said the neighbouring Niger Republic will defend him when he leaves office.

Buhari is set to vacate the Aso Presidential Villa on Monday, May 29, when he hands over to President-elect, Bola Tinubu.

He has now boasted about his cordial relationship with Niger Republic.


According to him, if Nigerians make the country difficult to live in after the handover ceremony, Niger will defend him.

Buhari stated this during the inauguration of the Nigeria Customs Service Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, on Tuesday.


He also reaffirmed that he will relocate to his country home in Daura, which is far away from Abuja but closer to the Niger Republic.


“I said these few things about my personal belief because I have only six more days to go.

“And I try to plan to be as far away from Abuja as possible. I came from an area that is far away from Abuja.


“I said if anybody with force moves, I have a good relationship with my neighbours. Niger people will defend me,” Buhari said.

STEP BY STEP HOW ADELEKE WON

1. Resolved that the Tribunal was not right to have rejected the judgment of the Court of Appeal that cleared Adeleke of forgery.

In short issue of forgery has been settled by the Court of Appeal. The Tribunal was wrong to have held forgery against Adeleke.

2. Issues 5 & 7: Preference of server report for BVAS machines and the report of inspection. Also the issue of transmission of results by way of manual collation.

3. Voters register is intrinsically part of accreditation. Section 137 of the Electoral Act, only lightens the burden of the petitioner not to totally remove the burden.

To prove overvoting, voters register must be tendered.

4. Oyetola's witness not an expert which he held himself out to be. PW 1 claimed to be an expert, he did not give evidence of his qualifications, he did not deny his membership of the APC.

His evidence was barren.

5. Further resolving the issue of over-voting, the Tribunal only relied on the Table provided by Oyetola and APC to give judgment in their favour.

The Tribunal was wrong because there was no evidence to support such claim of over-voting.

APC will win Bornu and yobe in North East and have good outing in bauchi and Gombe. APC will win zamfara and kebbi in northwest and do well in other North West states.
