He said and i quoted..... If you want to join government in plundering nigeria's wealth, better be a grduate or do you know of any plumber that profits from our corrupt govt. No!!!, all of them are graduates from genuine universities or "toronto university". By former counsellor was appointed immediately after school. In his 8-year tenure he made sure he plundered the ward allocation, built three duplexes, made sure his children had either uk or the us citizenship. And what did the community get in return? Regular cartons of beer, local gin (paraga)for all the boyz, dilapidated road etc. To add insult to injury, the guy was begging for third teem. In this country, if we want to enrich yourself with govt money, better get a degree.GOD BLESS NIGERIA

This kind of mindsets is the major reason why NIGERIA is still the way it is..... PLUNDERING FOR SELF AGGRANDIZEMENT..... Altruism pays and helps to make life better for others....

If Nigerians will just get away from SENTIMENTALISM,SELFISHNESS, TRIBALISM and et al and focus on NIGERIA.... We'll be a better and stronger people.

Donald Trump made a reference to this issue earlier and he's being highly castigated for that by basically the oppositions but yet when contextualized he had very potent points....

In a nutshell as said earlier different people with different views..... Because the other man's view isn't same with yours makes him bad or myopic....

Nairaland / General / Pickpocketers On Rampage At Anambra State Deputy Gov Father's Burial Ceremony by phineboy1pimple(m): 10:20am On Jun 13, 2016
Tony Okafor, Awka
THE burial of Sir Richard Okeke, the father of Anambra State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, on Friday, was like a carnival for pickpockets.
No fewer than 10 cell phones, several handbags and cash were stolen from guests at the funeral, which took place at Enugu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of the state.
The Master of Ceremony, Mr. Chido Obidiegwu, disturbed by the ugly trend, continually warned guests to guard their phones and other personal effects as complaints of missing phones had increased.
At the graveside, when the patriarch of the Okeke family was been lowered to his final rest place, a female voice shouted, “My money, my money”.
She pounced on a young man near her and N100,000 was found in the young man’s pocket.
Security agents went for the man; beat him thoroughly before whisking him away.
At the VIP tent, one of those who lost their phones and other valuables, Mrs Roseline Okoye, said she lost N50,000 and a phone.
She said, “I bought that phone just last week and it was a costly phone. I bought it N60,000. They took everything with my handbag. There was N50,000 in that bag. What is all this?
“How can this happened in this high class VIP tent. No poor person was allowed into this tent where I was sitting. How can this happen here? I’m confused”, she lamented.
Pa Richard Okeke died at the age of 88. He was a retired engineer and contractor. His funeral was attended by top class politicians in the country.
Former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekwueme; Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano; his Enugu counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Deputy Senate President, Ike Enweremadu, were among the dignitaries that bade the deceased farewell.
Others at the church service held at Immanuel Anglican Church, Enugwu-Ukwu were former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, and five deputy governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross River and Adamawa.
Former Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke; National Assembly members, Anambra State speaker, Hon. Rita Maduagwu; industrialist, Chief Godwin Ezeemo; Senator Uche Ekwunife were also in attendance.
The Dean of Anglican Communion, Archbishop Christian Efobi, led over 100 other clerics, including 12 archbishops to the ceremony.
In his sermon, The Most Rev. Efobi, blamed Christians for the numerous problems bedeviling the country including Boko-Haram, Niger Delta Avengers, among others.
He said Christians were not strong in their prayers to avert some of the problems confronting the country, adding that all hands must be on deck to salvage Nigeria from its current situation.
He said, “Christians need to pray hard for President Buhari to take Nigeria to the Promised Land, all these problems confronting this nation were because we have not prayed hard and this is the time for that.”
Efobi described the late Richard Okeke as a unique person that served God with all his heart.
Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, in his speech, described the deceased as a great man and implored the children to emulate their father’s legacy.
Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, thanked everybody that had given honour to his father.
He said his father’s death was a celebration of life, noting that his father lived a simple life that should be emulated by all.
He said, “There is nothing sad about this process and my father left a wonderful legacy for the family and for everybody to emulate. Therefore, this is real celebration”

A Benue artiste INAS (John Inas) has been in police custody since Wednesday 1st of June after being arrested for going home late after a video shoot...
He was bailed on Friday night (3/6/16) with the sum of #20,000. But was told to come back on Saturday for the collection of his phone since the policeman in possession of the phone had gone home.
The next day when he went to collect the phone, the policeman told him not to disturb him about the phone or he'll rearrest him. The boy continued begging the policeman and the policeman told him to sit and wait for him. After 4 hours of waiting for him, the policeman handcuffed him and sent him along with 2 other boys arrested the night before to the state police headquarters (CID department) on a new charge of Homicide(murder), armed robbery and conspiracy.
The clips of the video and behind the scenes pictures of the video shoot have been presented to the police but because of the weight of the allegations made by the policeman, the case has been sent to court.
As I write this, morning (13/6/16), INAS is going to be tried in court for a murder case he knows nothing about.
He needs your prayers.
Please share this information because this issue is really unfair.
On 1st of June after the video shoot, I shared this picture of the bts on social media not knowing that the poor boy was languishing in jail.
PRAY FOR INAS.
Pray he'll be freed in court tomorrow.

Cases like these are some of the reasons why NIGERIANS mourn LATE CHIEF GANI FAWEHINMI.....

If the lad is innocent as you said..... Massive awareness has to be made for him until people with the wherewithal comes for his rescue...

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested an ex-convict, Samuel Meme, for allegedly robbing a Portuguese couple in their car.
Twenty-two year-old Meme was arrested on Saturday after allegedly robbing the couple and the occupant of another car in traffic at the Marine Bridge, Ijora area of Lagos State.
It was learnt that the couple, who were in shock after the incident, had been admitted to a hospital in the state.
The suspect, in his statement to the police, said they were six in the robbery gang, adding that four of the members were serving different jail terms at the Kirikiri Prisons.
He said he was released recently after serving a three-month jail term.
The Delta State indigene said his gang always targeted and robbed cars whose occupants were busy with their phones in traffic.
He said, “We are six in my gang. Four of us are in Kirikiri Prisons and they are Gbenga, Imele, Tontolo and Lateef. I just came back from Kirikiri, where I spent three months.
“We rob any vehicle where the occupants are busy with phones. We start our operation around 8pm.
“My plan that night was to operate alone. As I was planning to strike, I ran into my friend, Wasiu, who taught me how to rob. We decided to rob cars together that night. At that time, there was traffic jam, which had extended to the Marine Bridge.
“During the operation, we opted for a Toyota SUV. The occupants were whites, and I guessed they were husband and wife. Wasiu and I positioned on each side of the car and we broke the two rear glasses.
“I collected the man’s phone, while Wasiu took his wife’s phone and purse containing N60,000. The lady pleaded for her drug from the purse and I asked my colleague to give it to her; then we left for another car.”
He said they attacked a Toyota Corolla which had a female occupant, adding that after breaking the side glasses of the vehicle, their victim said she had no money.
The suspect said they made away with her jewellery and bag before the RRS operatives, who were patrolling at the time, arrested him.
Wasiu reportedly escaped arrest.
Meme, who confessed to the police, said he was also an expert in removing trailer batteries, saying he sold five stolen batteries to one Musa Yahuu for N5,000 each.
It was learnt that the police had arrested Yahuu for allegedly receiving stolen property.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.
She said, “The case is confirmed. The suspects have been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigations. There will be no hiding place for robbers in the state.”

A Mass Communication student of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Taiwo Rasaq, has lamented that some policemen attached to the Owutu Police Division tortured and detained him unlawfully.
Rasaq claimed that the only “crime” he committed was demanding to know the reason for his arrest.
The victim, who was apprehended during a raid in the Agric area of Ikorodu, said he parted with N30,000 before he regained his freedom.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Rasaq was about to disembark from a tricycle when the policemen picked him up around 9.30pm on May 30.
He said the policemen arrested 30 others and whisked them away to the station, adding that he was slapped several times when he requested to know his offence.
He said, “On May 30, around 9.30pm, I was coming from Egbeda in a tricycle. As I was about alighting at Ori-Okuta, in the Agric area, some policemen from the Owutu division arrested me. They arrested many people including those that went to buy bread and garri for dinner.
“When we got to the station, we met over 30 boys who had also been arrested like us. I demanded to know why I was arrested, but they did not answer. A few minutes after, they told me to remove my clothes and drop my belongings, but I refused.
“I told them I would not UnCloth until I knew why I was arrested. I asked them to allow me make my statements and call my people. Three of them walked up to me and slapped me several times.
“One of them said, ‘You think you know the law, you will sleep in the cell tonight’.
“I kept telling them that I deserved to know my offence and if they couldn’t tell me, then it’s a kidnap. One of them slapped me again, while others manhandled me, so I kept quiet.”
Rasaq said the policemen allegedly collected between N5,000 and N10,000 from others, but he paid N30,000 for being ‘stubborn’ before he was released.
“We were over 70 that they arrested. They didn’t interrogate us or allow us to write any statement. The following morning, the bargain started from N10,000 and they threatened to move us to the Kirikiri Prisons. People begged and they agreed to take N5,000.
“My people begged them as well, they collected N30,000 from me for being stubborn.
Two other officers said they would not allow me go until I paid them another N1,000 privately, which I did. Though I couldn’t take pictures of the officers, I took their names and tags. They are: Odetunde Taofeek of Force Number 366967 and Iniobong Bassey of Force Number 023349,” he added.
Another victim, Yemi Ajayi, who resides in Igbo Olomu Junction, said he had attempted to explain to the policemen that a 15-year-old boy they arrested was his son’s friend, when he was beaten up and arrested.
He said, “I was in front of my wife’s shop around 9pm when the boy was shouting my name. I went to meet the police and told them who the boy was, but they did not listen. They hit me with the butt of their gun, fired tear gas canisters and threw me inside their van. The DPO was there too; he didn’t listen to me. It was my people that came to pay for my bail the next day and I was taken to a hospital. As I speak with you, I am still in pains.”
The Officer-in-Charge of the Nigeria Police Complaint Response Unit, CSP Abayomi Shogunle, said the raid was to rid Ikorodu of cult groups and violent attacks.
He said, “It is a week-long operation and it is in response to recent cult-related attacks in Ikorodu town. Some of the apprehended persons, found not to be linked to the ongoing investigation, have been released after initial screening, while 120 persons of interest arrested at different locations have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.”
The Lagos State Police spokesperson promised to get back to our correspondent on the incident.
