Niger Delta Avengers, the new militant group that has claimed responsibility for a string of attacks on oil and gas installations in the Niger Delta, continued its disruption of Nigeria’s oil production with the bombing of more crude oil pipelines Thursday. The group announced the latest attack via its Twitter handle on Thursday evening, saying it blew up “Ogboinbiri to Tebidaba and Clough Creek to Tebidaba crude oil pipelines in Bayelsa State.” “At about 2:00am today @Niger Delta Avengers blew up the Ogboinbiri to Tebidaba and Clough Creek to Tebidaba crude oil pipelines in Bayelsa State.” The Avengers added that the latest disruption is “in line with our promise to all international oil companies and indigenous oil companies that Nigeria oil production will be zero.” The group did not say which oil company is operating the pipelines. The group’s operation had become more audacious in recent weeks as it continued to cripple Nigeria’s oil production, demanding a sovereign nation of the Niger Delta people. The Avengers had rejected a meeting recently convened in Abuja by the federal government, warning of its readiness to carry out an attack that will “shock the whole world”. “The Niger Delta stakeholder’s meeting is an insult to the people of Niger Delta. What we need is a Sovereign State not pipeline Contracts. “To the IOC’s, Indigenous Oil Companies and Nigeria Military. Watch out something big is about to happen and it will shock the whole world,” the group tweeted on Friday. Last Thursday, it claimed responsibility for an attack on a gas pipeline belonging to Chevron in Delta state. “We warned Chevron, but they didn’t listen. NDA just blew up the Escravos tank farm main electricity feed pipeline,” it said. The militants said the oil facilities were sabotaged following attempts by Chevron to carry out repairs of main Escravos crude oil pipeline it blew up earlier. A spokesperson for the group, Mudoch Agbinibo, had last month warned the Nigerian government of further attacks if their demands were not met. Two weeks ago, Chevron’s Makaraba crude oil line was attacked on the offshore Okan manifold in the region. The attack followed previous ones on NNPC, Agip, Shell and other major oil corporations’ facilities across the delta states and it has resulted in the loss of over 40,000 barrels of crude oil per day. http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/204595-niger-delta-avengers-strikes-reinstates-vow-bring-nigerias-oil-production-zero.html |

OrlandoOwoh: Shut up. What did Jonathan say when he was told to visit the parents of the kidnapped girls in Chibok? See insult, how many times have Buhari visited Chibok parents since that is a sign of good governance. See what one of Okorocha's boys wrote when Jonathan visited borno state in 2013 President Jonathan’s visit to Borno State The president’s visit to Borno State, I guess, was intended to dramatize to Nigerians at home and abroad that despite opposition to the regime, the president could still be received in Borno with respect and even enthusiasm.
The government has shown enough patience and forbearance towards Boko Haram. The presidency felt that Maidugri would be the best place to open secret channels of communication between the Boko Haram sect and the Federal government. The bold initiative to visit the embattled state is commendable but the tone adopted by the Commander- in-Chief did little to establish trust.
Instead of queering how one could hold discussion with faceless people, many people expected the president to declare amnesty to the sect to enable all concerned to rethink and drop their arms. He would have said something like “I have come to inquire not to insist, to listen and learn and to begin what would be a continuing interchange of ideas and insight on how to end the carnage that is being unleashed on innocent Nigerians here in the North”. In addition there would have been a formal dinner conversation with many prominent northern leaders and the president during the trip. Direct conversations with the political class of the North would be the best way to make progress.
I think this is a wrong time for us to be engaging in finger pointing – who is among, who is supporting who. In this crucial time, we need to be united in one spirit to end further blood shed. A time has come for all Nigerians to rally behind the president.
People had wrongly assumed that the attack on Mali, the presumed headquarters of Boko Haram, would bring the sect to their knees but who knows how many they are and where they are located?
There are past leaders who know best how to rally the nation to his support, and how to inspire their faith and win their trust. Such persons should be sort out to help in this regard. We have not moved in a precipitate fashion. The Chairman and ranking members of the Senate Armed Services Committee should wade in to proffer solutions and seek out ways to hold dialogue through several channels. The presidency must keep a constant check on the way – its orders are being carried out and also whether the orders are being followed at all.
Now that the pressure to negotiate with the sect is building, the Commander -in- Chief should try and approve the program itself. A few gestures of recognition might make the opponents less antagonistic towards us.
The only way to end the attacks I believe is by conducting negotiations on political issues. The door to peace is wide open and we request the opponents of peace overtures to walk with the presidency through the door. The leadership of our nation is sincere for a settlement. There is nothing to be gained by waiting. Let history record it at his critical juncture; let both sides turn their faces towards peace rather than towards conflict and war.
The climate of expectations call for reassurance. Something should be done to halt the continuity of all the Boko Haram attacks. We need not wait for explosions to rock the cities to begin realistic programs that would restore peace and tranquility throughout our nation. We need not wait for infiltration and invasion by faceless attackers before we act.
Crisis at times is unavoidable but proves a test of leadership we need to practice preventive diplomacy that could avert attacks rather than responding to the attacks alone.

Politics › Arase Orders Disarmament Of IPOB Members by PhockPhockMan(op): 11:54am On May 31, 2016 |
The Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police, Solomon E. Arase, has ordered the disarmament of members of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).
This was made known in a statement, Tuesday, signed by ACP Olabisi Kolawole, the Force Public Relation officer.
The IGP further decried killings of police officers by the members of IPOB who yesterday went violent during a protest that oguth to be peaceful in some States in the south east.
The statement read this
Following the manifestation of the disposition of the armed Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) activists to undertake premeditated attacks on Police officers engage in operations aimed at restoring public order in States in the South-East and South-South geopolitical zone of the country, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, fdc, NPM has directed the Assistant Inspectors General of Police and the Commissioners of Police in the affected area to disarm members of the group operating firearms immediately.
The IGP noted that the targeted attacks on Police personnel, who have been performing their statutory functions in the most professional and civil manner since the latest resurgence disorder, portrays the IPOB activists who are orchestrating the insurrection as having crossed the threshold in their misguided attempt to test the common will of the nation.
IGP Arase, while condemning the killing by members of IPOB, also directed the arrest of any member of the group found in possession of firearm and bring him/her to deserved justice, while all IPOB activists arrested in connection with the killing of the Policemen should be charged to court for murder.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force will continue to diligently work towards eliminating any threat to internal security and assures Nigerians of its commitment to their safety and security. ABUJA. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/police-igp-orders-disarmament-ipob-members/

[s] HungerBAD: I have said it before.
And will say it again, the Judiciary is Nigeria's biggest problem, followed closely by Corrupt Politicians. The worst Societies in the World, are those that have corrupt Judges who have been proven to be Bribe takers.
Saying Buhari does not have a Certificate, is tantamount to Donald Trump saying the President of the United States was not Born in the United States. This Judge with this Ruling, is only out to embarrass the Office and the Person of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
We will weed out all the CORRUPT JUDGES one by one and their JAIL TERM is assured, even if they eat papers for breakfast like Metuh, or be crying like a 5 Month Old like Kalu the Biafran.
Now to the Writer, insinuating this is somehow connected to the Vice President. Be Careful with the way you allow your conspiracy theory, overtake your common sense of reasoning.
The VEEPEE has no hands in this.
Lastly, let us even assume President Buhari is even not Educated, let us assume he was not a General, let us assume he has never ruled Nigeria before, let us assume he had not attended some of the best Military Trainings in the World.
Let us assume President Buhari is an illiterate Farmer.
This Illiterate Farmer is ONE BILLION TIMES more Intelligent, than the CLUELESS one with a PHD in Cluelessness.
To those Praying that somehow, this Judge will somehow MIRACULOUSLY bring GEJ BACK, it is tantamount to saying Pastor Ajiboye will convert to a CELE PASTOR.
Not happening. [/s] Your weeping changes nothing, to you zombies, everything have to be in your favor for it to be regarded as genuine. When Nigerians asked Buhari to present his certificate last year, instead he arrogantly asked Nigerians to go to court and stay there.. Now we're there why are you crying? |

A top APC chieftain, who spoke to The AUTHORITY in confidence, described the judge’s ruling as “a calculated attempt to embarrass President Buhari and the APC”. He noted that: “We in APC find the ruling more embarrassing, considering that it came three days to our first anniversary in office,” adding that, “we strongly suspect that the said judge is working for the opposition (Peoples Democratic Party, PDP).” Another APC chieftain blamed the President’s team of lawyers for “treating the matter with levity, having won the elections,” warning that such a suit was capable of throwing up unpleasant surprises for his party. He said: “We are not lawyers and are therefore not in a position to know what is going on in the courts. I heard that our team of lawyers abandoned the matter, having not been paid by those who felt that the election had been won and lost. If we had a proactive Attorney-General of the Federation, he ought to have followed up and avoided this embarrassment. It is even more embarrassing if the courts establish that President Buhari, who has been fighting corruption, has no school certificate.” He continued: “This was the same way they assured us of victory in the governorship elections in Rivers, Delta and Akwa Ibom States. Politics › Buhari's Certificate Suit: Judge Under Fire Over Ruling. by PhockPhockMan(op): 1:35pm On May 30, 2016 |
A Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ademola Adeniyi, is under fire from chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for endorsing a suit challenging President Muhammadu Buhari’s eligibility to contest the 2015 presidential election. Justice Adeniyi had last Thursday dismissed a preliminary objection filed by President Buhari against a suit by an Abuja based lawyer, Mr. Nnamdi Nwokocha Ahaiiwe, challenging his (Buhari’s) eligibility to contest the presidential election on the ground that he does not have a school certificate, the basic educational qualification set out by the Constitution for a candidate seeking to run for the office of President. Ahaiiwe had joined the APC as well as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as defendants in the suit which was filed in February 2015. Ruling on the case, Justice Adeniyi, grandson of the first indigenous Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Adetokunbo Ademola, dismissed all applications by the defendant as lacking in merit, maintaining that the suit filed by Ahaiiwe was as competent as the service on Buhari and APC. We all know that PDP ended up shocking us by snatching those prized states from us at the Supreme Court. “The ruling by the Honourable Justice Adeniyi is too cold for comfort. Don’t forget that he is from the same state with the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The sooner we deal with the matter, the better for us because the consequences will be too dire for us as we don’t know the interests at play here,” the party chieftain warned. Justice Ademola adjourned the case till June 16, 2016 for hearing of the substantive originating summons to determine whether the President’s educational qualification meets the minimum standards required by the 1999 Constitution (as amended) http://www.authorityngr.com/2016/05/Buhari-s-Certificate-Suit--Judge-under-fire-over-ruling/ |
