Bro...I became weak when I saw that. I'm trying to get a WGWL for someone presently and it will cost the person about $3,000 without shipping fee. But here is someone telling us you'll get one for 40k max. Tells you everything you need to know about the person. Many folks don't really understand the concept behind these bloodlines and this in turn makes them slam random bloodlines on random dogs especially mutts.

It is a misinformation because looking at the anatomy of the German Shepherd Dog, all German Shepherds have a straight and firm back. It is clearly written in the breed standard of the German Shepherd Dog. The only thing allowed to be sloppy in the topline of the GSD is thr croup.

Most of what you guys call "Slant back" are dogs with serious defects ranging from weak/bad pasterns, too deep angulation and also what is popular known as cow hock. Some of these dogs are deformed but the average Nigerian canine enthusiast thinks that is a Showline.

Finally the topline of a GSD doesn't determine the bloodline. Only the pedigree does.

Working line puppies for 35k-50k?...The same WGWL, DDR/East German lines and The Czech lines is sold for that price...can you show me their pedigree and where they are?

Even these lil ones started barking at 2months and their big bones are tell tales they would grow into large terror.

WHY WE DO NOT SUPPORT CROSS BREEDING.

This thread was supposed to have been shared a long time ago but there haven't been enough time and chance to put up a thread like this let alone focusing on this special topic.

Some folks on Twitter asked us to explain why it is bad to cross breed dogs and we are glad to observe that over the past few months some set of persons are actually interested in embracing responsible breeding and that is why such a question was asked.

The major excuse why people cross breed dogs is to tell you they are actually trying to create a new breed. Why this is infact a major and welcomed development from anyone that is honest enough, it is also a disaster waiting to happen from the ones filled with dishonesty who are solely in this field for profit and profit only.

Creating a breed is no child's play as it takes several years which in fact is closed to approximately 20 to 30 years before a breed can be said to be created, developed and perfected. After perfection comes recognition and registration from the separate breed clubs and the FCI. But we can boldly tell you nobody in Nigeria is actually ready to face the challenges and then especially the patience that comes with this process.

A case study of the German Shepherd Dog....In the 1890s, Max von Stephanitz was primarily interested in improving the German shepherding dogs because they were local and were the working dogs of his time. Stephanitz enjoyed attending dog shows and observed that there were many different types of shepherding dogs in use in Germany but there was no breed standardisation. He greatly admired those dogs with a wolf-like appearance and prick ears who also were intelligent, had sharp senses and willingness to work and believed that he could create a better working dog that could then be used throughout Germany.

Max Von Stephanitz had a special goal which was to create a working dog. He knew the specifications he needed to achieve this and he went after specific traits which were dogs:

a wolf-like appearance and prick ears,
who also were intelligent, had sharp senses
and willingness to work.

He didn't just wake up one day to breed a mastiff to a hound, to breed a Lhasa to a Doberman because he knew what he wanted. Now in this present age, only few people are ready to achieve this long term goal in the canine world and we are so sure non exist in this part of the world and that's because majority are after the money and this has created a whole lot of adulterated dogs in the canine community.

Max bought his first dog named Hektor Linksrhein in 1899 and changed his name to Horand von Grafrath. Horand was used as the primary breeding stud by Stephanitz and other breeders and is the foundation of the German Shepherd breed as we know it. The English Kennel Club honoured the breed with it's own register in 1919 which is exactly 20 years after Horand was gotten.

During those years, Max culled some dogs as a result of unbalanced temperament, he removed some who were not showing willingness to work which is the major reason he was trying to develop that special breed, Max never sold any of these dogs to innocent people but he only gave them to breeders who were aligned with his goal and also retained a lot of them because he needed to keep records of the gene pool. There were dogs that were shot and killed because they became a monster and they were not going to fit in, they won't tell us that but we are very sure that happened.

But in this part of the world someone wakes up one day and breeds a German Shepherd to a Lhasa, they breed a Caucasian to a Rottweiler and sell off all the offspring into new homes without retaining any. That is a disaster waiting to happen especially for first time dog owners. They sell these dogs without considering the difficulty in predicting the temperament of these dogs, they sell off the puppies without considering the possibility of congenital health issues.

You ask them what they are trying to achieve with such result and they come up with the flimsy excuse that all dogs were created as a result of cross breeding. While this might be true in some cases, we can as well say it is still a lie because only few dogs were created from cross breeding and some of them have not been recognized fully as a breed. It might come as a surprise to some people that with the popularity of the Boerboel breed, it has not yet been recognized by the FCI and even not recognized by some Kennel Clubs in the world.

So basically we do not support cross breeding because:

1. Each and every breed has it's own purpose. The sole reason why a German Shepherd was bred is different from why an American Pitbull Terrier was bred. It doesn't make any sense cross breeding a working dog to a game dog which was solely bred for dog fighting. What do you expect from the offspring?

2. Destruction of bloodlines.

Since a German Shepherd is known to be a working dog, breeders do everything in their power to breed and uphold that standard so the bloodline of working dogs can be preserved, same goes for the Norman bloodline of the APBT which is generally preserved as a game dog. Once you breed these two together, both bloodline gets destroyed automatically because an irresponsible breeder has just shattered the works of several breeders from years back from a single breeding. That means they have to start all over again.

3. Congenital health issues.
Many congenital health issues, such as hip dysplasia, eye diseases, epilepsy and kidney disease, are found across multiple breeds. This means these conditions are still likely to show up in crossbred puppies if both parents are carriers of one or more of the same genetic problems.

If you are going to be a BREEDER, please be a responsible one and not a MILLER. At the same time make sure you do not turn blind eyes to errors in your breeding programme. We call that Kennel Blindness.

Phunkypalace is not saying that they are not pure Gsd, and he is not doubting that they are pedigree, he is simply stating that they are a combination of both DDR and Czech line.

Seriously calm down nd own up to your shits, you are just being too aggressive, the owner of these dogs is also a personal friend of mine, and if it warrants that I snap a pic with them, I would.

They are top notch, combination of two great working lines of Gsd’s. Czech line Gsd’s are super dog style and same are DDR, and because the puppies are combinations, you cannot call them pure DDR nor pure Czech

they both contribute the same number of alleles to the puppies,it's just a matter of probability.
it may be more of the dad or more of the mum or even equal.
sometimes they may end up looking like the grandparents.
there's no particular way to predict the dominant and recessive genes that'll be in the puppies it's just probability

I know about the alleles and that is not what I'm referring to.

Have you heard about Tale male charts?...it is the continuous, unbroken chain of males and otheir progression through the generations tracking on the sire side only. Some breeders make this mistake to think the males determine the outcome of each litter the more and that is the exact thing this person thinks and as a results needs a male better off his female. Honestly Tail male charts are interesting but they leave out a  very important element of the story and that is the bitch. It is the  bitch who provides the complement to the sire and determines the  distinction among his offspring, both in quality and producing ability.

Breeding dogs is a process of building generation after  generation, of constantly gaining in one area and losing in another.

The  bitch is the building block utilized in the process of creative  breeding, hence why I gave that percentage and favouring the bitch the more.

Calm down boss. I am in no way trying to advertise myself, infact I don't need to do that. I know the history of those puppies very well and their parents so when I say they are not pure DDR lines, I'm not referring to their looks, only an ignorant person will tell you the line a GSD belongs to from the looks. Refer to the pedigree and correct me if I'm wrong. I studied the pedigree very well and yes they are not pure DDR lines. Just own up to the mistake made and move on.

It's a problem if the female is not as good as the male. The female contributes 60% in the genetic makeup of offsprings so it's not a gamble any responsible breeder can take if your female is not in anyway a match for your desired male. BTW, you claim she's good, go ahead and show us then.
