bencarson007: Hey op, I like your topic and even though I did not want to respond, I am compelled to. First off, the ladies that made those useless comments and some saying trash here on nairaland are kids. Secondly, a man with drive and ambition is better off than a man with millions. Why ? A man with drive and ambition can take almost anything at his disposal and turn it to something but some idiots even with heavy salaries can't do nothing with them.
I don't know your story and you don't know mine but we all should learn. Cash is not always the first thing. Passion and vision is. I use myself as an example. First job - 51k - left to complete school Suffered very well before I got another Second job- 67k I was wiser now. I resigned and took a third one which aligns with what I was chasing Third job - 15k (LoL) call me crazy. I left and hit Benin for a fourth job which also aligns with my business plans Fourth job - 50k I worked 9 months on fourth job and I left and took a fifth job also aligning with my plans Fifth job - 25k Left after 7 months and got a sixth also in my line of view. Sixth job -25k And after 4 months, my training was complete. Started my own business Initially, I was making 25k per day and I doubled my hustle, and make on the average 50k per day and I know I can get better if I try more... I am really trying hard. So those stupid girls that made the kind of comments in your topic and those making silly comments on nairaland don't know what life is talking about. I can fly to the US and back when I want. Same as my mom and sisters because I am a self made man now.
Look at my salary drop 50-67-10-50-25-25 But I knew where I was going.
Special shout out to @Evanberry and refiner I can gladly marry any of you because una get sense.
And at op, don't think I am one old adult o... I am just a young man wey get sense quick... I hope to retire from active service before 45 Don't joke with a man with drive and passion.
Cc Evanberry Refiner
#Blessings op. Make wise choices. On love What kind of business sir? if you don't mind sharing with us. |

naifizzy: You not being realistic at all. So a man should not marry because he earns 35k per month? Ridiculous. See there is a class for everyone. What might be meagre to you may be tremendous to some few. Thats why we have mansions and face me and face you. Shoemakers, petty traders and others alike make less and yet they marry and have kids.
Dont judge life from your limited scope. Human beings are designed to adapt to situations no matter how terrible.... You have said it all sir. Best comment ever.... I have stopped reading. |

Good evening all, please who has re-invest interest on Stanbic NTB before should kindly educate me on how to go about it. I have funded my account with 1.5m and I have submitted my form last week wednesday with 1.5m written on it for 364 day. Do i need to add money if i want to re-invest the interest which i don't need for now? Since there is no option for re-invest on stanbic form, how will i go about it? Many thanks. |

chukzyfcbb: Oops I dunno bout stanbic ibtc but first bank of Nigeria has that option "Re-invest upfront interest". If they don't why not seek for extra cash to add to your capital, knowing you can pay back with the upfront interest. eg I want to Invest 1million at 18% 364days, I know that 180,000will be paid upfront while 820,000 will be taken away. Now if I can add/borrow 200,000 from a friend/family and Invest 1.2million at same 18% my upfront ineterst (gross) will be 216,000. With this upfront interest I can payback my friend his money THE NEXT DAY, while I will be expecting 1.2m at the end of the tenor. so I borrow and payback in less than 48hrs,lol
NB: I forgot to say you can do this diffefently, there was a comment here sometime ago I think by ernie4life. Not so sure who again but he said in stanbic ibtc, they don't deduct the whole capital and then payback interest like they do in first bank, instead they just take the actual amount if successful. we had that discussion some months ago.
so I may have 1million naira in my account but write in the form that I want to Invest 1.2million at 18% because I know that if successful, 984,000 will be deducted from my account. I was surprised to hear this, but he says he does it often at stanbic.
First bank usually takes the WHOLE amount at first which makes it impossible to do I will so much appreciate if you refer me to the pages, if don't mind. |

TONY56: Yes Stanbic does not do "Re-invest interest option". Though there is a way round it at Stanbic by doing some calculations but you can get that option at First Bank Thanks sir. I went to festac branch today to submit the form and enquire on the re-invest interest. The lady said i will need to instruct them close to when the form will elapse. I am not too satisfy with her response anyway coz they don't have department handling that in that branch. |

Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Phyde: 1:42pm On Aug 22, 2017 |
chukzyfcbb: Yes sir, that's how its done. Without accounting for charges, If your bid is successful, 126k will be left in your account while they take 574k, when it matures you will be paid back your capital of 700k. so at maturity date you get back your 700k + the initial 126k paid initially. So in the real sense, you invested 574k and got 126k because that's what they debited.
However if you have no need for the interest, there is what is called TRUE YIELD I.e Re-investing the interest. Here on your form, you tick "re-invest the interest". Now the whole 700k will be deducted and guess what? Your money will not be moving at 18% but at 22%.
#The pros here can throw more light on this tho 22% for the same 364 days if I re-invest the profit? This sounds interesting...I did not see Re-Invest Interest option on the form i picked from stanbic IBTC. How will i go about it sir? |

Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Phyde: 2:07pm On Aug 21, 2017 |
chukzyfcbb: No its not, using the example of the person whom you just quoted. 1million naira 13% for 91days and 1million naira 17% for 182days
Investment 1: 1million naira at 13% for 91days ............ 1000000 x 13/100 = 130,000 for the year 130,000/364days = 357.14 naira per day which means you will earn 357naira in a day!!!! so 91days = 357.14 x 91 = 32,500 (Gross profit)
Investment 2: 1million at 182days for 17% .......... 1000000 x 17/100 = 170,000 for the year 170,000/364 = 467.03 naira per day which means you will earn 467naira in a day so 182days = 467 x 182 = 84,999 (Gross profit)
NOW you can see that Investment 2 is yielding more profit per day even though it spans for 182days
...,............................. Now for the purpose of compounding, if after your 91days investment matures, You take the 32,500 + 1million capital and invest it for another 91days at same rate of 13% it becomes 1,032,500 x 13/100 = 134,225 in a year 134,225/364 days = 368naira per day 368naira x 91days = 33556 33,556 is your interest for 91days + ur capital of 1,032,500 brings a GRAND TOTAL of 1,066,056
So my friend even with a compound interest 1million will yield 66k if compounded 91days twice while for 182days , 1million will yield 84k. that's about 18k difference. So u see my friend 91days is not cool if your Profit hungry, its only adviceable to use 91days if you would be needing cash soon enough!!!! Lool Thanks a billion sir |

SEOManiac: Did you raise the house? Did you fill and raise the level after foundation? Asides that, 300k would have been enough. Foundation for 400k is usually for 1 storey building. I did not fill but raised 4 blocks up to floor level in case of flood. |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Phyde: 1:26pm On Aug 21, 2017 |
yemmit90: It doesnt work that way, your 13% for 91 days will be divided into four. You get miximum percentage and full profit only on 365 days investment. Thanks so much. Will go for a year plan then. When do you think will be the next auction date? |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Phyde: 12:42pm On Aug 21, 2017 |
ebunoyeyemi: Good Evening, Please though I ve known about treasury bills for some time now but something is still not clear to me.
Just for example... If I'm investing 1M for 91 days at 13% and the same 1M for 182 days at 17%, don't you think it is wiser to invest the 1M for 91 days twice? Or one can't reinvest again and again?
Like if you are investing 1M at 13% for 91 days and 1M at 20% for 364 days, 91 x 4 = 364, 13 x 4 =52... Is that not 52% instead of the 20%?
I need some explanation on this please. Nice question brother, this is where i am confused too. It shows the 91 days plan is better than the 182 and 364 day plan. I will really appreciate if someone can educate us more on this before i decide. Thank you. |

deepwater: Op, take a chill pill. Don't rush into anything yet, Nigeria of today is business scary and with 300k you don't have any business money yet.
Take that money to the nearest stanbic IBTC branch and buy treasury bills from the FG for 364 days tenure at primary market. I have mentioned stanbic in order to make you achieve the best rate. Interest rate are very high now.
Collect your interest upfront and experiment on anything that comes to your mind at pilot scale only.
At maturity date, your 300k alert would wake u up, you may decide to push the funds into whatever your have experimented with if the ropes have been learnt well enough.
In the interim, while you experiment at pilot scale with your interest from treasury bills, apply for jobs and consider getting a salary job, you are a fresh graduate don't be afraid of climbing the ropes with little pay. Better pay comes with better work experience which is obtained from the beginning.
Don't consider your self an entrepreneur as true entrepreneurs don't get stuck with money and no ideas. People must have poisoned your mind NOT to work on a salary scale, my brother look well, the same people couldn't secure a job after much trials.
All the best and happy investing.
N. B: there is a thread on TREASURY BILLS here on Nairaland that will educate you and give you financial buoyancy, many don't know because secrets to wealth are never revealed nor advertised but are being discussed like it doesn't matter. Beey: The reason, why they are crying is because their original cost only KSH 100 which is equivalent to $1. That was just for the two rings. They couldn't afford a wedding and they are both from poor background. So they decided to seek a blessing from their pastor and then begin their marriage. After the wedding, their pastor shared their story and people just started showering them with gifts. They were given a free honeymoon with flight and accomodation paid for,TV interviews,Free maternity care including pre-natal and post natal for first baby, a plot of land with a greenhouse worth $10,000.Later wedding companies came together to give them a free dream wedding and someone else is paying for a trip to Dubai after the 2nd wedding. So the emotions of all that has happened in the last few weeks is the reason they couldn't hold back tears. It can only be God . anything is possible. |
