There's no relation between Feminism and Christianity. Just pointing out hypocrisy!

1 Corinthians 7:2

Neverthless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
Good

That verse does not condemn polygamy as sin

Paul preference was for his acolytes to be celibate however knowing the impracticality of this

He accepts that marriage should go thru

The only time he recommends monogamy for those who desired to be leaders and this was in 1 Tim 3.1 -2

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

I'm not best of a Christian, sef. I'm a deist/agnostic.

I just love exposing hypocrisy of Christian men. They filter the one that suits them.

Polygamy suits them but bible is against it and they won't hestitate to say Feminism is evil.

They are bunch of hypocrites.
Are u sure she knows what an agnostic means

Meanwhile can you show from the Bible where it is against polygamy

What is the correlation between Christianity and feminism?

Hypocrisy is not a Christian thing... it is a human thing

5 in every 50. Personal observation.

Anyone can say anything about marriages but does that count in the real world huh

My take on marriage is simple: to each his own. Don't teach anyone how to run a home but encouraged fairness. No one wants to suffer in marriage and we know that more women suffer in marriages than guys, they are just acting emotional and speaking up.
So based on your own personal observations

1 in 10 marriages are those that the man is using the women right?

Marriage of women suffering, men smiling. I can't stand one person doing all the work why I sit and idle away. Its a union and not an boss and employee stuff. I was raised up to do things myself and won't give that up cause of marriage. If a man cannot help his wife in doing chores, he shouldn't bother marrying.

fact: Tradition hinders transformation.
On what basis do you think such marriages are a common occurrence

Can you tell us your own personal observation

As you r aware a lot of women here come here and say marriages are whack
Women r just working
Men r just enjoying

Who said Nigerian men are leeches or are you referring to another thread?

We are saying women are over-worked: 2 different things.

Nigerian marriages and Nigerian god, my opinion will not change.

This OP is a part of Nigerian marriage.

Not all marriages are like that and in Some, the man is the woman in the OP.

Ashamed to be associated with my roots ke? I loff. Iron and buba die

Flawed analogy. . .

Where is it established that eating '3 square meals' is a 'Nigerian thing'? Remember we are talking about 'traditional (or to use the loosely bandied about term - typical )Nigerian setting/family' here.

Perhaps you should define '3 square meals' and relate it to Naija?
Haha...

I guess only Nigerians eat 3 square meals

bukatyne:
Can you pull out where I bashed Nigerian men? I like references.
My marriage is 95% (have a challenge We are going through) tongue tongue
I hear stories and read
And no my dad is not perfect.
Besides nobody is asking for perfection.
Bashing men is d pastime here
That was the intent of both the picture and the original poster

You base ur world view on stories of people
No problem
My point is that if Nigerian men ND marriages are a wreck as y'all like to paint...who then are the 1 in 1000 with perfect marriages

Is that not contradictory?

now you are not asking for perfection
That was why I used the example of the west

Even the western males are not perfect

What u women should do is working together to improve the family setting and not against

With your logic, all Nigerians eat 3 square meals because I can afford to or all Nigerians can afford a G-Wagon because all of Folorunsho Alakija 's family can afford it.

And yes, a lot of ladies have such marriages where they are expected to be Shakira, Dora Akunyili and super star in cleaning all at nice while the man only part provides.
Story

Yes you(and all the naija men bashers) have an perfect marriage and we're raised by super dad's yet you just happen to be an authority on bad marriages which are surfeit around you

Your own just happens to be the 1 in the 1000...

And you who knows better how is the fact that women have the short end of the stick when looking at proportion of chores generally even the working ones

Rather than join the bandwagon of male bashing, why not see the progress which has been made and see how further strides can be obtained
More guys are helping out in the home and the proportion of chores is increasing

I have friends whose wives took time off for a MSC abroad and the house is not collapsing

But NO.. its easier to just call the men useless aside the list of family members

Shollypopzz:
The whole gender inequality is not only an African thing is a redundant point because feminism was created by the western world.

If they were all championing equality, I doubt there will be a need for a feminist movement.

This is a Nigerian forum, it only makes sense that most topics will be tailored to Nigeria and Africa. The people telling stories here or commenting on stories, are Nigerian sharing their Nigerian experience.

Let's not act like Nigeria is on the same level as the US when it comes to gender inequality issues.

The "problem" is very universal.
Very apt...

Ive always said it here, naija men bashing belies a bigger issue: lack of exposure about other ways of life beyond this shores

but on these boards - only naija men cheat or abandon baby mamas undecided

Excepts from the article I quoted again

"Gender inequalities 'rooted'
Researchers said the survey results meant women would not achieve equal opportunities at work until their menfolk contributed more to looking after the home.
"Gender inequalities in all areas are rooted in social structures but also in attitudes," said Professor Gillian Robinson, of the University of Ulster.
"It is difficult to see how women will ever have the same opportunities in the labour market if equality at home is not achieved."
In the survey, 1,800 men and women were asked about everyday chores, such as the laundry, cleaning, cooking, food shopping, looking after sick relatives and carrying out repairs. But men only made a significant contribution by mending faulty items around the house.
At least two-thirds of women said it was usually them who carried out the other tasks, rising to 85 per cent for doing the laundry."

Hollywood and Disney paint the white man as the "ideal modern man", and we believe it. The true picture of a typical western family is very different. the white man complains of his wife getting fat after babies. He also uses that as an excuse to cheat.
the white woman too complains of being overwhelmed even with the availability of dishwashers, vaccum cleaners etc.

a typical white male (young or old) still expects females to cook for him while he plays fifa '15.
So many of our girls have bought it

The largest consumers of video games products are white males in the 30s

Like slimyem said, the gender equality thing is going in the wrong direction.

The men are still stuck in their old ways/roles. They dont feel the need to change since its women that want equality anyways. But for gender equality to work in any setting, both parties have to actively change their ways.

I don't see that happening anytime soon. cheesy

I don't see that happening anytime soon. cheesy
We can force men to pay child support and outrageous divorce settlements. But can we force them to do dishes and help in the kitchen?
Even marriage the tool of 'female domination' will soon die off when men see its not worth it anymore
The potential for bankruptcy outweighs the reward
