Romance / Re: Nairalanders That Have Lost Loved Ones: How Did You Cope? by pietrodark(m): 8:21pm On Nov 25, 2023
You don't see death just when it comes for you, you meet with Death face to face when it takes someone you love.

Lost my dad 13 years ago, and it still hurts till this day. They say time heals, but I can tell you... There are scars not even time can heal, you just learn to live with the hurt and over time you learn to move inspite of it.

I've lost friends, loved ones, and everytime it ripped open the scar, making it bleed all over again. But then it has taught me a lot...

Death is not the end, it's the beginning. Leaving this plane of existence is just the end of Season 1, Season 2 kicks off when we exit. So do what you can, the best you can, when you can. 500 years from today, we will all become forgotten tales, our stories and deeds will be washed away, ancient relics that will only be found by those who diligently search.

I live by a code now... It is stupid to fear what you can't avoid. We all know that one day we will depart from this world, so the question is, why should we be scared of it?

Everyone dies. Not everyone lives.

TV/Movies / Re: I Like How When It Comes To The AMVCA Awards, They Always Ignore Asabawood Actor by pietrodark(m): 9:01am On May 22, 2023
I can say this because I have been part of a low budget and a big budget production, I have also produced short films so I know what it takes.

Why Nollywood is a force to be reckoned with today started with low budget movies, such as Living in Bondage, True Confessions and the other epic flicks. Most of today's well known legends such as Pete Esochie, Justus Esiri of blessed memory, and Nkem Owoh had their big break from NTAs Things Fall Apart, a low budget production even for its standard back in the day.

Aki and PawPaw are global sensations because of what? Asabawood, as you would call it. It sounds funny.

Is there such a thing as a bad movie? Maybe there is. But just because you call a movie bad, doesn't mean it won't make money. You see those low budget movies produced by the 'Asabawood' industry as you claim. Guess where their market is? It's not in Nigeria, it's in Benin, Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Zambia and Zimbabwe. If they make 1,000 copies of a film for the Nigerian market, best believe that over 15,000 goes out of the country.

I take nothing away from the productions of today, they are much better, graphics and production is a lot better than it was. But it doesnt make shooting a low budget film any easier.

Try shooting your own film first, budget for the cast and crew, produce, and pay distribution, market it and tell me if it's easy. I will clap for you.

Even the movies at the Cinemas, the Cinemas take up to 40 percent of whatever the film makes, by the time you're done paying tax, paying for marketing and distribution, A & R and whatnot.

See ehn, big budget or low budget, we are doing a good job. There's a reason the Zambian house of Assembly once moved a motion on the floor of their assembly to ban Nigerian movies... Because their people were starting to learn Nigerian mannerisms.

Let's try to criticize constructively, not destructively. No one has lived long enough to earn the right to judge another. No one.

Romance / Re: Men, Why Do You Cheat On Your Partner? by pietrodark(m): 7:14pm On Aug 25, 2021
Why do men cheat? Its a bit one sided, don't you think? Men and women cheat, so let's get that out of the way.

There's no moral justification for cheating. So I'll address it from a general point of view. People cheat because they choose to.

Men want one thing: someone they can come to and forget everything about the world outside, their worries and everything that bothers them. When the one person in whose arms they call home does not give them this, they are tempted to seek it elsewhere.

In dating, this is a problem we have. Mainly because a lot of guys think with their d***s and not their heads. Women are not left out because a lot of them aren't willing to fold their sleeves and work to build what they have. They all want comfort, when choosing to settle down with someone, you take the good as well as the bad, no one is perfect, there are men who have abused the term, "being a man" and the same goes for women.

What makes me sick is when I hear the same old excuse, "how can you eat only egusi soup for the rest of your life"?

My answer to that question is, variety works, even with only one soup. You can eat egusi with eba, fufu, semo, wheat, rice, beans, even sliced bread sef(I've tried it and it's mad).

I won't judge because I ain't God. But then there are people of both sexes who are blessed with wonderful people who are perfectly imperfect, but No! Wetin God don give you never do you...Na another person own na him dey hungry you!

I don't know how it happened, it happened so fast, I was drunk, he was emotionally available for me, she gave me a listening ear.... All those excuses Na trash! No be like say you accidentally fall ontop the vagoogle, or ontop the d***

Love only makes up 40% of the equation, communication, honesty and a lot of forgiveness makes up the gap.

That's the difference between dating a girl/boy and dating a man/woman.

I listened to my friend's father who is a traditionalist, a core traditionalist who does not go to church, he said, "if you steal, I may be able to help you after punishing you, if you tell lies or you choose to be naughty with a girl, I will be angry but will pardon you. But if you sleep with someone's wife or husband, there's nothing I can do. Spiritually, you have dug your grave and buried yourself, and the heavens, earth and the ground you walk on will be against you"

Ever wondered why some people are reported to have died while digging someone who isn't their wife or husband? Its not a Viagra sometin o. Spiritual tins follow

I don talk my own.

Culture / Re: The Misconception About Igbo Bride Prices by pietrodark(m): 9:56am On Dec 09, 2020
Cultures are different. I agree, piling up items on a list like you're selling your daughter doesn't make any sense.

But then, not all Igbo towns are the same, there are towns where you won't spend more than 100k on items on the list, and there are towns where you'll spend up to 500k, and even more.

I've attended a traditional wedding at Nnobi, the items they asked for were not up to 80k and the girls family handled the cooking for the event.

It's a serious concern everywhere, in Tiv I hear the traditional ruler made a decree that any family that takes anything more than 200k for everything concerning a traditional marriage would be in trouble.

This is how bad it's gotten, some families will use that chance to make every penny back. But then if the guy is calm with the girls father, he can get a lifeline. My uncle married from Amucha in Imo state. His wife's dad practically told him the things he should bring and asked him to forget the rest, that he would insist to the family elders that he doesn't want that.

Last last, na to pray say make ground soft for all men sha so we go fit marry wife wey God don ordain for person, because finally life no balance...

Family / Re: Are Opposite-sex Friendships Okay In Marriage? by pietrodark(m): 4:39pm On Jul 18, 2020
The question you've posed is one for concern. And as people living together it's only natural to be worried and not give the devil any room for mischief.

There are ladies who claim there's nothing wrong with it, and well for those who claim it is insecurity. I have one question for you: does your mom have a male best friend, or does your dad have a female best friend?

If the answer is No.... then I don't know where this is coming from...

You're first and foremost a married man or woman, before you're a friend to anyone. The dynamic has changed. You're not single anymore.

Useless scammer. You have a phone, you have your two hand and two legs and you're here expecting other people who work hard for their money to copy your account number and send you their money abi? You must be silly. You're not disparaged in any way, I see no reason why you shouldn't use this same time you use in begging to get a job and earn money.

Maybe she is a scammer... Maybe she's not.. Maybe you're right... Maybe you're not... But irrespective, if your last name isn't Christ and your first name isn't Jesus, tone down on that sort of savagery, I'm sure that at some point in everyone's lives we have given people money and we have also begged for money. Easy on the judgment, you or anyone else hasn't lived long enough on this planet to earn that right to be Judge, Jury and Executioner over anyone else. Two facts: 1. God exists. 2. You're not him...

Nairaland / General / Nairalanders, How Legit Is Assura Fast Trade? Anyone Heard Of Them Before? by pietrodark(m): 10:10am On Sep 21, 2019
Good morning my fellow Nairalanders.

I need help with confirming the authenticity of these guys before I make a move.

I've always wanted to purchase land but I haven't got the chedda in bulk. I was told about AFT, Assura Fast Trade. They claim to be a registered real estate company that allow interested people buy land in square meters. And they also help people invest in landed properties and help them yield interest on their investment.

They have an app on the Google Play Store, and they have a website. But I need to confirm if anyone here has had dealings with these guys and if there is any legitimacy to them so I know what move to make next, to invest or to flee..

Here's the link:
