President Jonathan is running apeople’s government. He does not need any snipers. His legitimacy comes from the people. Those who are alleging the existence of snipers should step forward and provide the evidence or shut up forever and go down in history as spineless cowards, driven by sheer greed and indecency.- Abati

I may be wrong but President Goodluck Jonathan’s gotta be oneof the most underappreciated leaders of our time, maybe in history. If these were the Biblical times, the odds are high that some angel in flowing whiteagbadawould have rowed down the river on a raining day, stop atthe doorsteps of Jonathan’s home and doorstep proclaim his birth and future greatness.Wanna know who’s jealous of Jonathan right now? Barrack Obama. Yup, the same one. President of the United States, the most powerful man on God’s earth. How powerful does he feelright now that he can’t order his frat Congress around?Obama is not even the most powerful man in Washington these days. The most powerful man has got to be a cab driver because they keep shuttling people back and forth. Obama can’t get his own government to run because some upstarts downthe street who lost an election that was basically a referendum on Obama’s revolutionary health care policy are trying to outmuscle him like pimpled schoolyard bullies trying to steal your cookie. Now, Jonathan does not have that problem. Nigeria’s account islike Daddy’s trust fund. Once you live to a certain age you can binge. But, Jonathan doesn’t evendo that. The man from Bayelsa is so disciplined he still walks around with the caution of a manwho didn’t wear shoes on the way to school when he was a kid. David Mark must be wishing he’s Republican and in American Congress right now. But, here is Jonathan, surprising folks who have long given up on surprises. His latest masterpiece is something that he didn’t even have to reach into his sleeves for.It was right on his palm all along.Hello, National conference.Wanna know who damn right can’t stand the president’s gut right now? The opposition lords. These men have spent years bemoaning the inequalities in Nigeria’s house of cards. They wanted the country looked at again with clean glasses not ordered from Whitehall. But, they didn’t quite expect Jonathan to open the doors to such gabfest. Now that he has, it is like Armageddon in a political minefield. They can’t be seen to be praising Jonathan. That would be worse than Judas betraying Jesus. But then they can’t pretend to stay onthe sidelines for too long or some smart bloke would start another Association for Better Nigeria, make a few cool millions and watch his campaign of deceitroll Nigeria into a constitutional one party state.I have been waiting for the national conference forever. I didn’t even know that was what I was waiting for when I was waiting for it. I always thought the national conference is like one of those conferences in Las Vegas where you go get wasted and belch your way through some talking points and come home with a hangover.Who knew it’s something so serious political and tribal leaders would do the unthinkable– turn against their masters and dance to the tune of the enemypresidente. Now all Jonathan hasto do is get his party’s rebellious governors to buy some dancing shoes. But, they better watch out – folks may just go to Abuja and push for a law that effectively makes these governors Jamaicans. That would teach them a lesson on getting high on themselves.I’m ready to go to the national conference and I have some great points I’m going to raise. First, how much are we getting paid to talk about reshaping Nigeria again? Is it gonna be enough to buy me a mansion in Abuja and a small, ten bedroom house in the village? Where will we have sub-committee meetings? On a beach in Miami or in the casinos of Monaco? Canthe distinguished members organize themselves into one super party?I know what our first order of business would be. We’ll push forthe restoration of the old national anthem. We like it because it’s nostalgic. We like it because it gives us an opportunity to piss off President Olusegun Obasanjo and we all know the General is at his best when he’s pissed off at something.Secondly, we will push for the reduction of states to twelve at the most. That way the numbers of big men and their cell phone waving assistants will reduce drastically. Who knows some men would go to bed comfortable that the girl next to them would still be their girlfriend tomorrow night. Today, they don’t even know if their relationship is past or present tense because of all these pot bellied big men who spend security votes at Harrods.I have not thought this through but I’m thinking of a finders’ keeper’s rule. Confused? Well, you know how a white man “discovered Nigeria”? Or how our leaders sometimes go into the treasury with Ghana must go bags and emerge smiling like they’ve just had a dance with Father Christmas? Well, it’s the same principle. We may make a law that Nigerians have to acquire a government property indistaste as long as we see the list first and help ourselves.I can’t wait for the confab. It would be Nigerians trying to get Nigerians right for the umpteenth time. We will blow through the money we don’t have. We will build a housing estate we can own for a pittance in a few months. Then we will wait a few years for another confab again. Nigeria, we hail thee! In the exact word of Tukur Gej is our candidate""""''

,Obasanjo's letter is baseless and only aims at inciting the masses against GEJ. What moralright does Obasanjo have to even raise those issues he raised in his letter to GEJ?1. Obasanjo wants GEJ to honour the agreement he reached with some cabals, yet he betrayed the one he enteredinto with IBB and Others that brought him from prison to rule Nigeria.2. In the public letter he wrote to Jonathan, he condemned Jonathan's military tactics against Boko Haram yet he levelled Odi and Zaki Biam in Bayelsa and Benue states respectively, killing hundreds ofinnocent citizens.3. He is against GEJ's second term, yet he tried unsuccessfully to bend our constitution to enable him go for a third term.4. He accused GEJ of aiding andabetting corruption, yet during his tenure, there was nothing as petroleum minister. He was solely incharge of the petroleum ministry in such a way that Nigerians knew nothing about the revenue accruing from sale of crude oil.5. He sold public enterprises like refineries, housing estates, NITEL, etc. to his cronies without due process.Imagine how hypocritical GEJ's critics can be! Obasanjo's letter clearly shows that most of the corruption allegations against GEJ's government recently are mere fabrications orchestrated by the same people and group who think Nigeria belongs to them. Last month, they claimed N500 billion SURE-P fund was missing. The finance minister cleared the air that nothing wasmissing. Yesterday, it was $8 billion unremitted fund from sale of crude oil. How can Nigeria lose funds that is biggerthan her revenue?I think past leaders like Obasanjo should hide their faces in shame for failing to better the lot of Nigerians whenthe ball was in his hands. Someof the rots we are suffering today were caused by past leaders like Obasanjo. The railway Obasanjo could not manage, Jonathan has fixed thebulk of it in just few months. The power plants Obsanjo abandoned, wasting over $18 billion, Jonathan has fixed themand linked them with gas for operations. The roads, airports are getting better. Agriculture isbooming again after over 45 years of neglect.Anyway, I blame GEJ for being too soft. Very soon, Abacha willwrite him too from grave. -

I believe what they are scared of is his numerous achievements which include this""""*DEATH TRAP**Benin - Ore Road, New Condition. This is one of the Busiest road in Nigeria. According to FederalWorks Ministry, President Jonathan gave contractors of the road the third quarter of 2014 as the completion date forthis project.Contractors according to works ministry are far ahead of schedule. This is the same road, former President Olusegun Obasanjo wasted over N386billion in 8 years. In just two and half years, President Jonathan have fixed the same road, they claimed that 'witches do not allow for the construction, repairs and completion".The fear of Jonathan administration's success in 3 years surpassing their 8 wasteful years is the reason for the 18-page letter compiled by 4 retired Military Generals. -

Goodness yes.Going to church signifies attendance. Being the church is action. It's involvement. It's participation. Building vs people. We are called to be the church, not to go to church. We meet regularly as the body of Christ (being in the church) to worship and give honor to God.Being in the church signifies membership, community, fellowship. Caring, sharing, and above all loving. Going to churchsignifies people as consumers and not active participants as givers.
Religion / Is There A Difference Between "Going To" Churchand Being The Church? by pigin: 6:44am On Dec 15, 2013
I am not a football player, but I can go to a football game. Beingon a farm does not make me a farmer. Going to church is not the same as being the Church. One is physical, the other spiritual. The 5000 people Jesus fed on the hillside went to church, the kid that gave up his lunch, that kid was the church. We are called to be Christ's hands & feet. To go & do, that isBEING the Church. We are not told to be His ears & butt.

CHINUA ACHEBE'S LETTER TO OBASANJO (2004)My Dear President Obasanjo, I write this letter with a very heavyheart. For some time now I have watched events in Nigeria with alarm and dismay. I have watched particularly the chaos in my own state of Anambra where a small clique ofrenegades, openly boasting its connections in high places, seems determined to turn my homeland into a bankrupt and lawlessfiefdom. I am appalled by the brazenness of this clique and the silence, if not connivance, ofthe Presidency.Forty three years ago, at the firstanniversary of Nigeria's independence I was given the first Nigerian National Trophy for Literature. In 1979, I receivedtwo further honors – the Nigerian National Order of Meritand the Order of the Federal Republic – and in 1999 the first National Creativity Award. I accepted all these honors fully aware that Nigeria was not perfect; but I had a strong beliefthat we would outgrow our shortcomings under leaders committed to uniting our diverse peoples. Nigeria's condition today under your watch is, however, too dangerous for silence. I mustregister my disappointment and protest by declining to accept the high honor awarded me in the 2004 Honors List.Yours faithfully, Chinua AchebeAnnandale-on-Hudson, New YorkTell me what Former President Obasanjo did then to transform nigeria nothing.Still it wasFormer President Obansanjo that was pushing for third term and here you have President Jonathan that have the constitutional right tocontest for a second term and former President Obansanjo says he should not contest in hisletter, what's OBJ Problem?

Politics / Politicians ‘hijack’ Kano Foreign Scholarship Programme by pigin: 7:09am On Dec 14, 2013
Politicians in Kano are taking advantage of the non-release of a foreign scholarship list for 500 students to surreptitiously smuggle the names of their children and relatives into it, Weekly Trust  has learnt.
It was learnt that some of the politicians including a former senator and a civil servant at the state government house and party chieftains have inserted the names of up to three of their children each into the current list.
A source at the state Ministry of Higher Education which handles the programme, said since the state Governor Rabiu  Musa Kwankwaso  announced plans to send a second set of 500 students abroad in August this year, many politicians have been making desperate moves to grab numerous slots for themselves before the ministry formally calls for applications from the public.
“Their argument is that they are also Kano indigenes and their children are qualified for the scholarship though the programme is meant to benefit poor candidates,” the source who asked not to be named told Weekly Trust.
“But the problem is that even unqualified candidates with connections to powerful government officials or politicians are trying to get their names into the current list. If this happens the credibility of the programme would be eroded,” he observed.
Kwankwaso had said that the programme was conceived to assist qualified students from poor backgrounds to advance their studies abroad.
They are expected to return to Kano after completing their studies and work at all the educational institutions in the state including the Northwest University.
Commissioner for Higher Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa denied the reports, saying his ministry was doing its best to ensure that only qualified candidates who are indigenes of the state are included.
“This list you are talking about has not even been released. We are working hard to see that the candidates who would be selected have met all the requirements because we are considering merit above anything else.
“Of course, there is no problem if senators or others have the names of their children in the list as long as they are qualified and are from Kano state. But the exercise is not like that, we are expected to be fair to all and that is what we are doing. These are all unsubstantiated allegations,” he added.
Doguwa also said contrary to claims that beneficiaries of the government’s scholarship programs are being paid millions of naira each month, the state government pays them about $200 to $250 dollars monthly.http:///1c2ljZT
Politics / ‘how Jonathan, Obasanjo Parted Ways’ by pigin: 7:00am On Dec 14, 2013
he seed of the stand-off between President Goodluck Jonathan and his estranged benefactor,ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, was sowed about two years ago, before blowing into the open on Wednesday, The Nation can now reveal.Their differences revolve around seven issues, accordingto well-placed sources in Abuja.Although the duo, against all expectations, shared breakfast in Nairobi, Kenya, on Thursday,it was gathered that President Jonathan may henceforth keep Obasanjo at bay on account of the ex-president’s “toxic” letter.Presidency sources said the anger generated by the letter is yet to subside.Their differences stemmed from:•Rejection of some ministerial nominees and chief executives of departments and agencies from the South-West from Obasanjo;•Alleged refusal of Jonathan to consult Obasanjo on key policies and decisions of the government;•Disagreement over the leadership of PDP at national level and in the South-West, especially the sack of Obasanjo’s loyalists like ex-Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, ex-Governor Segun Oni and Bode Mustapha;•The rise of G-7 and ultimate defection;•Obasanjo’s allegation of Jonathan’s administration of lack of direction, especially on anti-graft war;•Use of international fora to write off the administration of Jonathan; and•Second term aspiration of Jonathan.Investigation by our correspondent revealed that Jonathan and Obasanjo had been patching their relationship over the last two years. Some months ago, Jonathan was said to have confronted Obasanjo and accused the ex-president of undermining him.Jonathan, sources said, accusedObasanjo of supporting the PDP G-7 governors. It was learnt that Obasanjo denied the allegation and assured Jonathan of support. The source added: “Obasanjo’s disagreement with Jonathan started from the ministerial nomination. The ex-President sought input into nominations from the South-West, but Jonathan restricted him to Ogun State. He said Obasanjo could not singlehanded nominate ministers from the South-West when there is a PDP structure in place.“The ex-President was also not happy that the Jonathan administration does not consult him on all policy issues, decisions of the government and strategic appointments. The ex-President felt the President had been hijacked by those he did not want in government,”thesource said. One of those who allegedly “offended Obasanjo” in the pastwas the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim. His appointment was said to have been made without consultation with Obasanjo. When the matter was brought to Anyim’s attention, he personally went to meet Obasanjo to plead forgiveness for whatever offence he might have committed.Obasanjo reportedly told Anyimthere was no quarrel. The emergence of Bamanga Tukur as the National Chairmanof PDP and the attendant crisis in the party appeared to have deepened the crack in the relationship between the two leaders, while the alleged hijackof the South-West PDP structure from Obasanjo pained the ex-President.“But with anti-second term campaign for Jonathan, it was strategically important for the PDP to restrict Obasanjo to his only vote at the PDP National Convention for presidential primaries than to allow him control the party structure and wreak havoc,” one source said. The Presidency was also said tohave received intelligence reports on Obasanjo’s remarks at several international gatherings including some in the USA in which he allegedly made uncomplimentaryremarks about the administration.-The Nation

The so called SE senators are all there for their personal aggrandizement.Let Govt wait until it collapses and innocent citizens die before they will respond.

Obasanjo Attack On Jonathan!!!Mallam Idris Mohammed (Dakata, Kano) Wrote::You don't expect Jonathan to lick your ass. You must be a wicked man to send nearly 10 names to Jonathan and wanted to force him to make them Ministers. When you were in hisposition, Did Shagari, Abdulsalami, IBB, Shoneko or Buhari send list of Ministers that must be appointed? "You want to appoint all Exco of PDPalone and when the party members and the President sayNo, your start writing baseless letters. Your political influencedhave dropped to nearly zero and it is wise for you to proceed straight to retirement and leave Nigeria for the younger generation". Obasanjo, you are frustrated and I know that, you are scared that the little man, from a small village in Bayelsa will leave a legacy that will overshadow your fruitless 8-years in office. "An Hausa proverb says, "That a woman that have no child, will like the whole world to die at the same time". "All the corruption allegations against Jonathan's government in the last 11 months are mere fabrication, as they are well orchestrated, by the same people and group". How can Nigeria lose funds that is biggerthan her revenue? It does not add up. You cannot lose what you do not have. "Obasanjo should leave Jonathan alone, leadership is turn by turn.
