Let me elaborate: If you go ahead and give, and it turns out the person is fake, you'll be judged by the Lord for not investigating properly before giving. If you don't give, and it turns out the person is genuine, you'll be judged by the Lord for not giving to the needy.

I don't quite agree with your conclusion here. Every human being is a child of God. Just like the prodigal son did not stop being a child of the father, so too those who are gay do not stop being children of God.

The difference really is that they are children who by the Christian standards have decided to be rebellious. We only hope and pray for their return just as the Father prayed for the return of his prodigal child.
