based on my above post, let us as nigerian be very careful on d type of language, comment and observation, we make on this site. lets focus only on d positive side of any topic or issue and avoid making statement dat is cabable of destroying another person and our beloved country.
yea, i agree with you.
the hatred on Nairaland is reaching a boiling point. If you click on the "whos on" button at the top of the screen you will notice that thee are more guests than members. And this bad language is probably making nigeria seem really bad.

I am a christian and would not be party to teaching you how to better worship in a different way.

However, if they wont scrap it, then a better option might be to build a better almajiri institution.

As in building an islamic Mayflower-type institution (Mayflower ikenne started by Tai Solarin) that actually teaches them what they want to learn but at the same time feeds and empowers the almajiri.

That way they graduate from school , literate in the islamic tradition, disciplined from years of rigidly controlled boarding sustainably supported by their effort (in mayflower students farm, bake , knit and do so many things) and dignified with their hearts and minds protected from the degradation of begging while protecting us from the effects of barbaric twisted imams using them for their own ends.

If their parents want to give them up, no problem.

We simply take them and train them up to be literate, islamic and disciplined.

Its a win win for every body.

Parents: They can spend their irresponsible lives doing other things while we train their children and ensure they get fed.
besides the kids would later respect them (even if they did not take care of them) for sending them to THIS almajiri institution.

Govt: Less Crime. Less Riots. Ready labour force (use them for building the school itself only).

Northern politicians: Chance to gain rep by sponsoring the feeding of the children hosted there.

Southerners: We dont get slaughtered and our refined senses are not subjected to the sights and smells of unwashed almajiri beggars.

PROPOSAL:
Number: Four in each northern state, housing 1500 kids each. (19 x 4 x 1500 =) 114000 kids.

Target Demographic: we bring them in at age 8 and send them out of the system at age 18 (man enough to handle themselves).

Other Issues: sex-segregated. Vocational certification on graduation.

Language of Instruction: Hausa, Kanuri, Arabic languages,. English learning only (if they dont want science but we will teach them how to read and place a library conveniently on site. you will be amazed what curious kids can do).

Funding Plan:
max 14 to 15m to set up each one. 60m max total.
Sponsor Percentage Expected cost Dollar Equivalent
Government 50% , (N570,000,000) $3.67m
local govt 5%, (57,000,000) $.367m
State 30% (342,000,000) $2.206m
UNICEF,USAID & NGOs 15% (171,000000) $1.103m

Needed: Law against unregistered schools. unofficial training and breeding by any mallam considered tantamount to child slavery and punishable as such. minimum 7 years.

Critical Success factors: Convincing Northern politicians to go along. Getting NGOS/ Donors to buy in.
thats a good plan! but i think that the schools would be quickly overrun and overcrowded because according to some sources i have read, these childrena re comming from foreign countries like niger and Chad, and such schools would attract even more children like a magnet from all over west africa. remember the birth rate in Niger is 7.1 undecided

^^ common bro enough of this.
Every Muslim i have met in person has been an incredibly honest and virtuous person, if you want to convert people to Islam just show them examples of your virtue, dont attack their religion because that only creates hate.

look at what nairaland is becomming, i have seen the anti-muslim comments and the anti-Hausa comments, they bother me, and i am sure they upset you even more. But understand that by using the words of the bible in this way your just going to magnify the hatred and make this website an even more unpleasant place to be.

you obviously are very knowledgeable about the Bible and koran so why dont you join those of us you want to build bridges and friendships and dont use you knowlege for hate?

I have another coin with queen elizabeth the 2nd drawn on it. What is the worth of that.
Not worth much, you can buy those coins in abuja from hausa people for pennies.

Even spanish coins from the 1600's aren't worth much more than the material they are made of.

PoliticsDo You Think The CIA Is Monitoring Nairaland? by pleep(op): 4:34pm On Apr 24, 2011
Nairaland is like a window into the mind of the average Nigerian. And I'm begining to wonder If various organizations like the Nigerian government, CIA or Al-Quaeda are monitoring this website do get a better idea of what Nigerians think about various issues. Like anti-Americanism, terrorism, or middle east issues.
What do u guys think?
PoliticsRe: Almajiris - Nigeria's Ticking Time Bomb by pleep(m): 6:47am On Apr 24, 2011
Anyways back to the topic. As I understand most of these people are from niger, chad and other such places. So why on earth do we let them stay in nigeria? Why don't they go back to were they came from after they finish thier studies.
PoliticsRe: UN To Investigate Buhari For Possible Crimes Against Humanity by pleep(m): 6:30am On Apr 24, 2011
Its like Nigeria as a county doesn't even have control of our own destiny. So many foreign interests are interjected into everything that happens in Africa since independance up till now. And we still don't know who the real enemy is.
Dispite any legitimate misgivings people have against Buhari this is an insult to the whole country, we should sort put our problems internally.
PoliticsRe: Why Does The Nigerian President Dress Like A Clown? by pleep(m): 6:21am On Apr 24, 2011
He does look a little bit like a clown But thats not because of the clothing. Haha. Personaly I think politicians should do away with the whole kunte kinte crap. No need pretending they have pride in their country.
1. We adopt the colonists language
2. We adopt the colonist culture
3. We adopt the colonist mentality.

But we insist on wearing 'traditional' clothing most of which was made in holland by the Dutch wax company and is not even native.
Oh and ditch the dumb hats.
