Foreign AffairsRe: Can We Rebrand The Image Of Africa? by pleep(m): 9:26pm On Apr 13, 2011
China's explosive growth is actually as a result of adopting "western" practices as regards its economy. . .
I would have to disagree, China is growing because of protectionist policies and devalued currency. "western style practices" are mainly just capitalism, and free markets. This system works well for the west but it wont work for Africa because capitalism is a pyrimid, the majority of people/countries must be poor.
the adoption of western style practices are one the the chief things wrong with Africa's economy. And the adoption protectionist practices are the best way to go.

Foreign AffairsRe: Can We Rebrand The Image Of Africa? by pleep(m): 12:01am On Apr 13, 2011
You can't change the image of Africa to a more positive one when people are constantly still portraying pre-colonial Africa as the "Heart of Darkness" and as a place which had no civilzations south of the Sahara Desert. It's an uphill battle against 300 years of distortion.
To get anything done we need Money and power, lots of it. All it would take would be for a real patriot to get into a high office( like govorner of a sate) and overhaul the entire system. He could issue new texbooks and create a more socialistic form of government in his state. But for bribes and an election money talks.
We all want to make a difference in africa, i think getting as rich as possible, then zeroing in on nigeria's problems is the most viable way.

Christianity EtcRe: Why Not Palm Oil As Anointing Oil In Churches? by pleep(m): 3:35am On Apr 10, 2011
amor4ce:
But would that have been the case if Israel was situated somewhere in the tropics like the Equator?
Of course not. There is nothing intrinsically special about olive oil, its just very common in the mediteranean and was extreamly valued and versatile.
Christianity EtcRe: Why Not Palm Oil As Anointing Oil In Churches? by pleep(m): 3:21am On Apr 10, 2011
you have a good question. It does seem to make more sense that churches should use palm oil. however, the oil used in the bible is olive oil. So its natural that the churches would also use this type of oil.
PoliticsRe: The Niger Delta In Pictures by pleep(m): 11:18pm On Apr 09, 2011
Are all these problems only in the delta? or is the pollution and degradation found in other oil producing areas like rivers state or a ibom?
PoliticsRe: Tribute To Nigerian Military In Pictures by pleep(m): 4:10pm On Apr 09, 2011
So, since we are talking about military here.
Does anyone agree with me that ground forces are almost obsolete?
And naval forces are only usefull in providing a plateform for fighter jets and aircraft carrier defense.
What do you guys think? is naval and ground warfare almost outdated

is Air force and missle war the way of the future?
Foreign AffairsRe: Unacceptable : France Takes Over Abidjan International Airport by pleep(m): 3:59pm On Apr 09, 2011
Also the average libyan has a home and a car and isnt starving, libyans had no need to leave their country to work in europe or america because they were provided for in their own country, the true indicator of how well a country is doing is by looking at the condition of its citizens, nigria is an oil rich nation but its citizens live in grim poverty the rest flee the country for a better life. If libya was such an undeveloped place you would have had mass emigration of its people just like nigeria.
2muchlogic
I am not too sure about this, information was tightly controlled in Libya as we can see and GDP per capita is such an inaccurate measure of wealth invented by Oyinbos as far as I am concerned. Thats why I want us Africans to come up with our own system that will benefit us Africans but fit in with the west. For example Bill gates is worth something like $56 billion, but the GDP per capita of the USA is $47, 152, that means Bill Gates accounts for the productivity of 21 million Americans?
haha sorry to 'but in' on your convo, but you dont have need to only look at the per capita GDP to see the standard of living. look at things like the life expectancy which is 74 in libya. In delevloped countries (libya is considered developed) they calculate this with actual hospital records, so its fairly acurate. The fact that libya is considered developed and the life expectany is 74 is enough to indicate that the standard of living is fairly high.
Dont be deceived NOBODY is our friend. the Asians want to be friends with Africa so bad because the are trying to migrate and as well get the resources . that's why you would hardly see any African in Madagascar now. The Indonesians did the same thing back then. NOW the own the country. We can only help our selves no one will do it for us.

Asians don't like blacks. they only want what we have
Anyway your right, The african really has no firends, they only want resources, but the trade off will be much more fair than with the west.
Its unfourtunate it has to be this way though. what we really need to do is look inward. There is everything Africa needs to be geogprahically indipendant and properous inside Africa.
Foreign AffairsRe: Are Libyans Ignorant Of Their Own Racial Makeup Or Just Plain Racist by pleep(m): 10:20pm On Apr 08, 2011
The problem lies in the influence they have over Black muslims on the continent and in the South. Black muslims in Northern Nigeria show greater allegiance towards Arabs than Black Africans. Eventually, we either have to take a stand for our survival and the control of our destinies or get subjugated.

If Europeans were resisted regarding ENSLAVEMENT, so should Arabs, otherwise, countries such as Nigeria and the continent at large will continue to be a farce.  How can we coexist with polities that believe that we are inferior and only fit for SLAVERY. F*U*C*K that!
Keep in mind that the muslims are not the only problem. Christians sell out to the Europeans just as bad as the Muslims sell out to Arabs.

religion has been the biggest cause of Africa's history of subjugation and lack of unity.
E. Asia has confuscianism and bhuddism. Europe has Christianity. The middle east has Islam.

and especially the Jews, who have been hated and persecuted almost everywhere they go, much like black people. however unlike black people their religion bound them together. And the more they were persecuted the more they drew together and became more unified.

I wish God had sent Jesus or mohammed to Africa undecided

Black Libyan men are doomed to marry black Libyan women."
doomedhuh silly fockbag can even write about racism without his own predudices seeping out. If i were a black libyan man I would by happy to marry a black libyan woman.

@vladimiros , Today, we do not need Westerners whether its UK or USA.
China has invested more in Africa than any other people or Country.

The Chinese are our friends not the west.
Exactly. The Chinese gov has already cancelled 10 of millions $ worth of debt owed to it from African countries, and they are willing to do business as equals.

Did you know that Bin ladin denies involvment in the 9/11 attacks? http://articles.cnn.com/2001-09-16/us/inv.binladen.denial_1_bin-laden-taliban-supreme-leader-mullah-mohammed-omar?_s=PM:US.    So there's something odd about the whole thing undecided.  Perhaps there not even looking for him.
Foreign AffairsRe: President Obama Now Moving Towards Ground Troops In Libya by pleep(m): 4:47am On Apr 08, 2011
@ mama gee
do u really think that Obama will put boots on the ground in Libya? I think that would turn the whole country against him for good. Especially if there are causualties.
Foreign AffairsRe: President Obama Now Moving Towards Ground Troops In Libya by pleep(m): 4:44am On Apr 08, 2011
You know what would end all civilian casualties in Libya instantly? If the rebels surrendered immediatly.
Foreign AffairsRe: The Media: All Libya Every Day Nothing About Cote De Ivory by pleep(m): 4:01am On Apr 08, 2011
Bastage:
Maybe you should switch off the Disney Channel and watch the News Channel then.

You stated that Western media isn't showing Cote D'Ivoire.
I provided you with the links from the 3 top news sites in France, US and UK and they all have it running as their main story. I could have found many more. I watched the BBC news last night and Cote D'Ivoire was well above the goings on in Libya. The BBC news site even has a running commentary on the situation which is updated by the minute.

Your statement in the thread title is blatantly untrue.
until the last few days BBC America on PBS was only showing 5 min coverage of ivory coast at the end of it's program. I don't think this is because of imperialistic reasons, but simply because people are tired of hearing about 'another crisis in africa' same deal with Sudan and the Congo. Libya  is a little more relavent to them. I don't know why you keep claiming the the coverage of ivory coat is balanced. Because it's obviosly not to everyone but you.

Foreign AffairsRe: Unacceptable : France Takes Over Abidjan International Airport by pleep(m): 1:18am On Apr 08, 2011
true, the west fight, with computers and dropping bombs from 10,000+ miles in the sky; the answer is simple guerilla warfare - tell me the last time any western power won a guerilla war? They always loose when it comes to real war, then a new president will say the last was wrong and pull the troops out.      Its like a destructive merry go round.

The real waking up needs to be in terms of how we think and culture - we need a cultural revolution.
Its also, a good thing that the west actually cares about its troops lives. Thats why thier not putting ground troops in libya. Like what happened in somalia, the American public would never let them do that again. If there was one casualty in libya the american public would probably force the Gov, to pull out. and righty so!
