Politics / Re: Why Odutola Rejected Awo’ S Loan Request Of £1, 400 by pluto04(m): 10:58am On Feb 28, 2016
The Awolowo letter sounded extremely arrogant. Maybe it is just the way they write letters in those days. It is just like a random stranger writing a letter to a local rich man today, who didn't know him personally, demanding to borrow £20,000 without security, with payback period of 12yrs. I am sure the letter would be rightfully ignored. Even the Awolowo family of today would ignore such letters. Unless I am missing the context.

Then it is Kemi's turn to have a field day.
I didn't say that whatetever that mean. I said she has been on the post for 2 months which is not long enough to implement her ideas. She is not rssponsible for monitary policy. Emefiele is and he should be sacked. Kemi is not responsible for the oil crash or nigeria's mono economy. NOI had 8 years (obj and gej) to prepare us for a day such as this. NOI did not prepare us and it is very absurd to call for her return.

I say...NOI...what say thou..or aren't "you guys" tired of chasing straws and focusing on the main task facing us as a country.
NOI was a coordinating minister. She had her chance. We know what she did with that. Kemi has only been in the post for 2 months. She should also get her chance to implement her ideas. All the things you you are accusing Kemi off are actually the CBN Governors failings. He has been there since last administration and appears to be a clueless yes man. He doesn't report to Kemi. He reports to PMB. So answer to your question. Emefiele should be sacked and replaced by Soludo.

With all the tales of woes emanating from the posts that mentioned me, I am yet to see any of you mention someone who can get us out of this.

I still stand on my opinion that as NOI "got" us into this mess she as hell should be compelled to redo the wrongs on our economy. Period.
You mean having supervised GEJ corruption, she should be called back to come and complete her Biafra agenda of driving NIGERIA into the abyss? By the way, I think the CBN governor should follow her out of the door because I think he still working for PDP. Flip-flop monetary policies driving up the exchange rate. He must be an IPOD member!

I wanted to draw a line in the sand and I have. I could see that you have problems with my opinion. Read the rest of the thread and you'll see why. I won't be able to help you beyond that. Sorry.

Regarding the rest of your rant, It doesn't do you any justice and does indicate some limitations in your social intelligence. As you can guess, they have been ignored. You will get more responses when you enroll in Jaybee's school of communication.

Gboliwe:

What is wrong, really wrong with all of you? You particularly that say you have no vested interest yet you are already interested in discussing money on a thread where barely 3days back was full of prayers hopes and dreams and strategies and now mourning? What is wrong with you?
Didn't you read that even when this young man was alive, the mother refused a sum that was donated particularly for her? Didn't you see that part?
A man, a breadwinner just died and we won't allow the family grieve, heck! We won't allow "ordinary" online friends grieve and someone with no vested interest will join in and start talking about how to "share his property". What is wrong with all of you? Pleeeeeeaaase! Let's stop this. Its not helping at all.

If I must spell it out, then I will: On this thread, just say a prayer for the grieving family and wish DJ rest in eternity. Then, move on. Its not too difficult.

TeHN has severally said a time will come when his property and will will be read to the house, until then please let's keep this sharing formula only in our thoughts.

RIP DJDola. We pray that you get eternal rest and the people left behind, the fortitude to bear the loss.

While we are on the issue of funding balance, I think the decent thing would be to return the money to the original donors or to give it to DJDola's family. Anything other than that would be diversion of funds (from the original intention of the donors) aka 'fraud'. If you are thinking of diverting the money to a new project you might as well raise fresh money for that new project. Making decisions based on the opinions of 'un-invested' Nairalanders would not cut it. It would be wrong to divert funds without the explicit consent of each the original donors who are the 'only' stakeholders as far this decision is concerned.

Disclosure: I have no vested interest here.

I'm not sure if you've read our comment on future plan as per the balance. We will come up with options at an appropriate time then have all stakeholders ratify it.

This is not the time to be talking/thinking about money. They lost a son that no amount of money could have saved so let's try and consider how they may be feeling at this difficult period

1. The PWC audit was a whitewash. The report has no credibility. They are not wizards and will only be able to audit information presented to them. If nothing is presented to them, they will find nothing. The people they were auditing were left in post to cover their tracks while the whistle-blower has been sacked. They will still find nothing. It is a no brainer. The surprise would have been if they found something. So nobody need apologize to GEJ. He needs to apologize to us for running the most corrupt government in the history of Nigeria, sacking whistle-blowers while leaving officials accused of corruption to cover their tracks and then audit themselves. Which leaves us with the suspicion that the fraud was perpetuated on-behalf of GEJ.

2. NigerDelta (whatever that means) or Ijaw has no oil. The oil belongs to Nigeria. That is what the Nigeria constitution says. If the Ijaw are not happy with that, they have 3 choices:
a. Get their legislooters to agree with other legislooters from other part of Nigeria to change the consititution
b. Declare secession and get Tompolo, Bayloaf and Askari to get ready to use their private armies
c. Relocate to Cameroon, Central African Republic or the Atlantic Ocean!

If so, why were all the MSc holders in Nigeria back then not awarded profs?

When did he become a Professor? Do you know? Was he a Professor i in 1990?

Someone posted a linkedin link on this thread. https://www./professor-yemi-osibanjo-brings-abayomi

From that I can see the following:

Work Experience: Simmons Cooper Partners (Barristers and Solicitors), Senior Partner, 2007 till date; University of Lagos, Professor of Law, Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, 2007 to 2013; Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; Member of Cabinet, Lagos State, 1999 to May 2007 ; United Nations Secretary General’s Committee of Experts on Conduct and Discipline of UN Peacekeeping Personnel around the globe, Member (2006); United Nations Operations in Somalia, Staff Member, Justice Division, UNOSOM II; Law Firm of Osinbajo, Kukoyi & Adokpaye, Partner; University of Lagos, Professor of Law and Head of Department of Public Law (1997-1999), Federal Government of Nigeria, Special Adviser to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, (legal advice and litigation), 1988-1992; University of Lagos, Senior Lecturer I (1983-86), Lecturer II (1981-1983), Bendel Development and Planning Authority, Legal Officer (Youth Service),1979-1980

"From perjury to forgery: Buhari or whoever forged that certificate needs to be flogged. Prior to the formation of a central govt by Gowon, all regions had separate curriculums.

Only the western region offered a local language in both their curriculum and WASC! It was after a central govt was formed and a universal educational curriculum was developed and adopted which included other local languages in 1974! So which WASC did Buhari write in 1961 that included Hausa?

abhosts: Do you need to kill someone to obtain her feces? But as usual the gullible public would believe the story.

The suspect, Ikechukwu Friday, said he had gone to beg a pastor for money when the pastor instructed him to kill a young girl and obtain her faeces.

He said the pastor promised him N100, 000 if he was able to accomplish the task.

He said, “I attend a popular church around Ketu Street, Aguda, but I live with my parents in Badagry. I just finished secondary school and I have been very broke. So, I approached the pastor for money, but he told me that I should strangulate a little girl.

“He explained that while strangulating the girl, she would pass out faeces in the throes of death. The pastor said I should obtain the faeces and bring it to him. He said if I could do this, he would give me N100,000.

“On December 30, 2013, I approached a young girl, Bose Ogoja. Her mother sells food in Badagry and I usually patronise them; so she trusted me. I told the girl that I wanted to show her something and she should follow me. I took her to an abandoned NITEL building and locked the door.

“I squeezed her neck and truly, she passed out faeces. I was, however, not able to get the faeces because I was caught before I could escape.” http://www.punchng.com/metro/teenager-kills-12-year-old-girl-for-money-ritual/

Politics / Re: Senators Begin Lobby For Mark’s Seat by pluto04(m): 3:52pm On Sep 07, 2013
figment232: 68.

The Implication of 68(1)is that if INEC recognises the old PDP as the autentic PDP the senators & Reps of the New PDP automatically loose their seats in the House

Which part of the section you posted leads you to the foregoing conclusion?

Did you read this part:

(1) A member of the Senate or of the House of Representatives shall vacate his seat in the House of which he is a member if -
(g) being a person whose election to the House was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected;
Provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored;

That is all that matters. That section has nothing to do with recognition of faction by INEC Chairman. Nobody's seat will (or can be) declared vacant. They are still in PDP they have not left. Even if they now leave PDP to join or form other parties (which I believe is one of the next move in this political chess game), their seat cannot not be declared vacant as they have made sure that the PDP is divided and it is now common knowledge. It was a masterstroke that caught team Tukur flatfooted.

We are eagerly awaiting the next move in the chess game. Tukur team are now on the defensive and any wrong move could lead to PDP loss of national assembly leadership.

I read and digested. Did you read and digest the allegation first? Here it is

http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/revealed-northerners-own-80-of-oil-blocks/

Enang, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, said that those opposed to the fund should know that over 83 per cent of oil blocks are owned by northerners.

But he did not give the number of oil blocks Nigeria has.
Unless the newspaper misquoted him, he did not say 83% of oil blocks allocated to indigenous Nigerian companies. If he was not misquoted, his figure is clearly unreliable.

While I empathize with the objectives of the Senator, I think it is simply irresponsible for someone of that stature to make such grave allegation without providing the full figure so that we can work out the percentages by our-self. It is even more irresponsible for the ministry of petroleum resources to keep mum and not release the full figure or a summary if the allegation are false.

But this is Nigeria. Everything is possible.

The upper legislative chamber said Jonathan risked dire consequences if he failed to end Maina’s stay in office.

These people (and many self employed people) don't pay enough income tax (that is dependent on self declared income) and many don't pay at all.

The fact that only 43 traders are affected out of several thousand is indicative that these people a very tiny minority. Nobody will miss them if they quit trading. Those supporting them are either intentionally being malicious or they are simply ignorant.

And those saying that this is targeted at Igbo are deluded. These trades are not exclusive preserve of the igbos. Other tribes including many Yorubas are also in the trade.

1) His Selection: before he made his intention known publicly as per contesting the guber seat in Ondo State, some guys like Dr Olu Agunloye(a former LP chieftain), Saka Lawal, etc have declared and have been working underground with the hope of getting the ticket before the godfather's annointing dropped on Aketi(the chosen as his campaign board reads), the duo mentioned earlier had to leave ACN for LP and PDP respectively with so many others and their supporters.

2) He is not a grass root politican and not so known even to his people. Prior to this election despite the fact that he was once a state commissioner in Ondo, people don't know him

3) Debate: some of us will agree that he didn't do well during the 1st and 2nd Governorship debate held some weeks before the election, I remember NLers were asking if he was truly a former Chairman of NBA, he doesn't possess the carriage to prove to his people he was not going to be a puppet to his godfather, while his friend in the same proffesion Olusola Oke was sound and factual with the way he responded to questions during the debate, some NLer gave it to Olusola Oke being the winner of that debate that day and Mimiko placed 2nd.

4) Winning Mandate: Ondo North which happened to be Aketi's Senetorial zone had too many candidates and strong politicans fighting to deliver their ward to their respective party.

Ondo North comprises majorly the Akokos and the Owos. Aketi is from Owo and chief Oluwole Fasawe(a strong PDP man) is from same town with him. Saka Lawal, former ACN gov. Aspirant and later PDP deputy gov. Candidate is from Akoko, Dr Olu Agunloye, former ACN Gov Aspirant, now a LP chieftain is from Akoko, the LP dep gov candidate Alh Ali Olanusi is from Akoko as well, these all contributed to why ACN couldn't win the North,as against other senetorial zones like central(just mimiko and Akintelure ACN's dep Gov. Candidate and South, just chief Olusola Oke). There were many power contender from the same zone(ondo north) who had mandate to deliver their ward and if possible their Senetorial disctrict to their respective party.

5) Tinubu & ACN factor: for those who have taken a careful study of ACN Gov's activities in SW, apart from Fasola, others are just noise makers. Ekiti is still in the position and state where Fayose left it(if not worse), this is enough to discourage the people of Ondo to think of ACN compared to the so called cosmetic project(as ACN people used to call it) Mimiko lay claims to as his achievement in the last 3 and half years. Before I forget, all these Govs were imposed on the party members and states too like Aketi and at the end of the day, some of them are performing below expectation, esp Ekiti governor.

6) Road block: from my little information gathering, all roads entering Ondo state were blocked throughout the election hours, some of the machineries they(no particular party is being mentioned here) intend to import from some neigbouring states to be used for the election weren't able to enter the state, thus, they couldn't deliver

Am sure there are some other reasons, feel free to share it, let's learn from this election in Ondo state. Please note this is just what I feel, not a reflection of any candidate's mind, I may be wrong in all or some part, it is just what I feel.

Ondo people has made their choice,it was an election, not like the days of OBJ and PDP where results are being announced from INEC office in Abuja when party agents were waiting in front of state INEC's office to get final result.

I pray Dr Olusegun Mimiko will be able to improve his governance and implement projects that are masses oriented, he should extend his work to other towns in Ondo state, Akure is beautiful, what about Igbara-Oke(Ifedore LG) my place of origin? We all want to have a feel of your good governance.

God bless Ondo State
God bless Nigeria

@pcicero,

You're just disturbing yourself. What do you expect from Achebe? He is a Biafran who is still very bitter about losing the Biafran war. He is a clever ibo who knows what will sell and has decided to make a killing before passing on.

Gowon is still alive and war is not for romantics. Very disingenous that he manages to blame Awo for everything that happened in the war when Awo was neither the Head of State nor the commander in chief. He didnt start the war and he was not in the military. Ofcourse, the book will not sell if Achebe blames Gowon or Ojukwu. He also manages to know what was driving Awo either because he was Awo or Awo told him. cheesy

With the controversy generated by the book and the potential sale volume, I have to doff my hat for the man. He is a evil genious! He will make a lot of money from his intellectually lazy account of the the Biafran war, devoid of fact and filled with speculations!!
