Let me point out here that he didn't place his hand ON the candle light to be burnt, he placed it 'over' to feel the heat radiating from it. This reminded him of the sort of torment he would undergo in hell, if he gave in to Shaytan's whisperings and didn't have the chance to repent before he died.
Remember the Prophet (PBUH) forbade the seclusion of a non-Mahram male and female together in same place cos of Shaytan's influence and the obvious resultant evil. The boy in question only reluctantly let her stay with the risk of committing a sin that could lead him to hell (which is surely more hurtful than the 'flame', not fire) cos the only other option was to leave her to kick the bucket.
Also, he withdrew his hand when he was starting to get 'hurt'; there's no such chance for taking a break in hell. Allaahu a'alam.

I specially invite us to come in our large numbers to motivate the young intending couple with our presence and share in the Barokah of such gathering. They are both young and they have boldly gone for what is pleasing to Allaah (SWT), rather than fooling around; this is indeed very inspiring and our large turnout will help give them the confidence that they have indeed taken the noble path (we know it's not easy taking such huge step).
