PoliticsRe: Rivers Crisis:You Cannot Take The Swamp Out Of The Hippopotamus-Wole Soyinka by PointB: 5:14pm On Jul 17, 2013
ilugunboy: Well I understand your position..your fears and what 2015 portends.

Soyinka for your information enjoy taking on the establishment ...he never shy away from such challenges unlike some people that will never mind becoming a junior partner to Ijaws in the present 'Joint Venture' arrangement.

He has been incarcerated before for something he viewed as injustice....stoning him at the behest of those in ephemeral positions can't be worse than going to jail.

Unfortunately it's the children of those he went to jail for that are in a frenzy and jubilation at the barbaric treatment.
Only that in this case, the establishment is a 'mere domestic appendage', a hippopotami, a mammy wata - all which refer to somebody's wife. This wole soyinka must indeed be a legendary pugilist; a matador; a gladiator! Should we call him Spartacus?

mafiffle: I think we have to check the reason for this desperate support for Amaechi by WS. There must be something going under the bridge.
Learnt Soyinka's son is an ACN commissioner in Ogun. It more like opposition politics!

LFJ: I hope you will still hv the courage to be here after 2015.
To uphold the tenet of fairness; and speak against loquacious Profs who demean women? Yes I will be here if God keeps me alive!

Abagworo: At the end of the day Amaechi has sure victory just like majority of Nigerians.

1) Amaechi being removed un-democraticaly from office will cause break down of law and order in the country and Jonathan's eventual removal and trial. I therefore foresee the Presidency shelving its undemocratic approach to save the President's head.

2) The intimidation of Governors by any President now and in the future without any tangible reason is over

3) PDP will find it extremely difficult in 2015 because at least 80% of Nigerians are angry with the treatment meted on Amaechi for doing what nobody knows.
Why vomit statistics that cannot be corroborated? Guy stick to what you know for certain. 80% indeed!

oyb: the ranting of the ants licking crumbs off gej's table will not bother WS, who has faced much more thuggish foes in his time.

the real shame is that his his vilifiers are drawn from the ranks of people he has fought and shed blood for - he was incarcerated in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT for standing up for the biafrans , whose father of african literature was dining in the high command while they starved to death ; he also stood up for mend and resource control - however it seems at least on the internet that these people are driven more by their bellies than conscience
That makes him a saint or infallible? Pathetic.

bestview: It would have been too late before the 'prof' would have realized this..

His antecedent is not clean either..
He is someone I respect and speak well of to my friends; but these past few months has made me have a rethink of him. He is not aging gracefully. He is losing it...

Awake9ja: wole has started to irritate me, all these hippopotamus and illiterate name calling from wole is makes me blv that he is loosing it.

maybe old age has caught up with wole or maybe this is truely who he is which make Afegbua right.
Spot on my brother.

A wise man speaks once and his words reverberates. Fighting everyday with a woman is really classless. Most pugnacious people I know on NL and real live hardly descend to level of deliberately exchanging words with women/ladies. I think Wole Soyinka is perhaps effeminate.
PoliticsRe: Rivers Crisis:You Cannot Take The Swamp Out Of The Hippopotamus-Wole Soyinka by PointB:
ilugunboy: Prof Soyinka is the wrong person the Presidency should take on in it's battle for 2015.

Unfortunately only those that see Patience Jonathan as their Jesus Christ on earth will fail to realize what damage taking on the Prof will do to the GEJ brand.
And it's truly worth the damage it does to the Soyinka brand? I learnt the Nobel Laureate was recently given a warm hot reception by stone peddling citizens who are very pleased with him. His stock indeed is rising, which each loquacious misstep.

A man who plays with dirt, thinks he will remain clean. Only in the minds of the deluded.

I think I agree with him.
Then let's clap for the Prof, name calling is the new sagacity; Prof Soyinka is indeed very wise and utterly refined!

No, you got it wrong. They will return the favour for JEG. I hope you still remember January coup vs July Counter coup and the subsequent pogrom?
Hope you still remember your thread, about the attrocities committed by Buhari?
Nwanne, na so e dey take start. And when in don fully start, you no fit stop am. But you can as well complain later about how the North is filled with wicked souls.
Where was this argument when Nassarawa people pelted GEJ with stones? Guys, you lots should pipe down with this Jan 15, and July 29 inanities, it's actually very boring and illogical. There is no parallel with this simple PH protest.
PoliticsRe: Anti-amaechi Protesters At Port-Harcourt Airport Yesterday (Pictures) by PointB: 8:16am On Jul 17, 2013
Perhaps when Ameachi travels to any those four states, the people there will return the favour.
Ameachi can end all these - simply by joining Anger & Pain Contraption (APC) .
PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB: 7:19pm On Jul 16, 2013
Tolexander: you still wallowing in goof. Domestic appendage is different from domestic appendage of power and should stop meddling in power. Not by virtue of her husband's position but her public exercises.

Can we say english is the problem here o what?
Just answer the question:

Is your mum 'a mere domestic appendage' your dad? Since, expectedly, your dad is the head of the family?
PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB: 7:18pm On Jul 16, 2013
Delafruita: grammar is your problem.of course a wife is a domestic appendage first before been any other thing
I see. You are sired from the same chauvinistic root as Soyinka - a system where women are subjugated as 'mere domestic appendage.' Let me hear from Dayokanu. Perhaps, I might have an idea how much chauvinism is spread in your region.
PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB: 7:15pm On Jul 16, 2013
dayokanu: Soyinka told her to be a Lady first before being a first Lady

is that not what you expect of every woman?

is that not what you expect of your wife to be a lady first before she tries to lead others

And calling her a domestic appendage is right. What role has patience in Nigerians Politics? Patience role is as a result of her domestic relationship to Jonathan Simple. She wasnt voted she wasnt appointed and the moment Jonathan ceases to be president she loses any power she has. An appendage is an attachment.

Patience is a domestic attachment/appendage.

That descriptions fits her to a T.

If your boss househelp is trying to interfere with company issues, Then you tell him he is a mere domestic appendage and has no business with how the business is run.

Most of you have problems with English thats why comprehension is hard for you
Fair enough.

Is your mum 'a mere domestic appendage' your dad? Since, expectedly, your dad is the head of the family?
PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB: 7:08pm On Jul 16, 2013
Delafruita: you seem to have been confused by the phrase 'domestic appendage'.prof simply meant that pej should ordinarily be a wife and not the trouble maker she has turned herself into in rivers state
You clearly the confused one here.

Is your wife a 'mere domestic appendage' to you? Or in the absence of a wife, is your mother 'a mere domestic appendage' to your mother?
PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB: 7:04pm On Jul 16, 2013
dayokanu: Patience is a public officer, She lives on public funds, she takes money from national coffers to fund her numerous projects and lifestyle, Why cant Soyinka a taxpayer and direct contributor to her lifestyle be able to ask questions just like he asked Turai some years back.

So someone cant criticize Okonjo, Remi Tinubu, Diezani or Dora because they are someones wife?

The FIRST LADY is supposed to be the leader of women in the country and certain level of decorum is expected of her since she represents the country

Michelle Obama is criticized regularly
I don't know why some of you are failing to comprehend a simple sentence. Calling someone's wife, and mother 'a mere domestic appendage' is an 'insult.' It has nothing to do with criticism. Worse still is the fact that the culprit here is someone who should know better. I am beginning to think it a SW thing, equating insult to criticism.
PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB:
Tolexander: stop goofing man!
Patient Jonathan is a public figure, Turai Yar adua was a public figure, Stella Obasanjo was a public figure, Mariam Abacha and Babangida were public figures by virtue of their Husbands' position, pet projects they held and their daily finances by public fund. . Tell me what post Wole Soyinka's wife hold and action to warrant public criticism.

If she doesn't want any criticism for herself, she would have disengaged herself from power, the public fund she requested for her 'fellow widow's project', and the kind of reception nigerians are according to her which are not constitutionally defined.

What has he said wrong calling her a domestic appendage of power?
So you don't see anything wrong for someone like WS to stoop the the level insulting a woman simply because her husband is a President? Let me ask you, is WS wife a mere domestic appendage too ? Would he be willing to go on an international podium and call his wife such?
PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB: 6:01pm On Jul 16, 2013
Tolexander: mr man!
You are many miles away from the real issue. What has WS's wife got to do with the issue?
Wole soyinka never make any false statement from what he said and only tried cautioning her reminding her the responsibilities expected of her.
As the first lady, even without a constitutional role, many things she does affects the populace, wole soyinka inclusive. Besides, she lives of public fund, so why is she immune to criticism?
Tell me how anything Wole's wife does effect the nigerian populace?

Just a simple analogy, if you goof here and i abuse you, the best thing for you is to abuse me and not your friend avenging for you.
So calling someone's wife a 'mere domestic appendage' is complimentary, or caution in your own world? Or how is such demeaning and belittling, sanctimonious words amount to criticism? He stood on world stage to insult the woman, and you are here calling it criticism.

As the first lady, is she not someone wife, mother, sister, etc? Why should WS throw decorum into the wind the insult her person?

Wole Soyinka is equally a public figure, how would you feel if people start insulting his wife for not doing anything that affect's Nigerian populace?

PoliticsRe: Soyinka's Folly by PointB: 5:15pm On Jul 16, 2013
I still think it was wrong for him to try belittling the woman - president's wife or not. What if Patience's children decided to ventilate the anger on Soyinka's wife? They could actually start by calling her a recluse, or something more uncharitable but yet politically incorrect. Let's assume Soyinka doesn't care if his wife is belittled, but how would his children feel to see their mother so demeaned?

Soyinka is dead wrong on this issue, and should apologize to the woman.

Maxymilliano: It doesn't make any economic sense to continue keeping 10 aircraft for a government that is serious in curbing fiscal profligacy, the cost of maintenance and associated charges in keeping 10 aircraft is not healthy for the economy

Ihe grossly under-perforimg and under-productive legislatures should also wake up to their responsibilities and provide a semblance of checks on some of the activities of the executive rather than just serving as leeches and getting paid for doing next to nothing ...
I concur!

software man: ARE U TALIKING OF PDP.? DANGEROUS. HOUSE OF DECEIT ETC THAT IS DESCRIBING PDP A MAJORITY WITHOUT AN IDEOLOGY THAT IS WHY THEIR MEMBERS FIGHT EACH OTHER WORST THAN ENEMIES WOULD. THAT IS WHY THERE IS WHY A PARTY THAT CONTROLS BOTH THE FEDERAL LEGISLATURE CANNOT GET A BUDGET PASSED. THAT IS WHY THEY INSTITUTE COURT CASE AGAINST THEMSELVES ON A DAILY BASIS. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE A RIVERS HOUSE OF COMMOTION CONTROLLED BY THIS USELESS POLITICAL CONTRAPTION. THAT IS WHY WE HAVE THIS HUGE HOUSE OF DECEIPT DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF . I CAN GO ON AND ON FOR DAYS. PDP IS A CANCER TO OUR NASCENT DEMOCRACY. NOTHING CAN BE WORST THAN PDP NO MATTER HOW BAD. PDP IS IS THE FLOOR .
I am only quoting the words of significant people. When it is time to quote faceless clowns, perhaps I will pay you mind.
PoliticsRe: Yinka Odumakin Fires At Tinubu- Yours Is A House Of Deceit by PointB:
- I can tell you authoritatively that the most dangerous and terrible tendency in Yoruba politics is the house of deceit (ACN/APC) that Tinubu represents. - Yinka Odumakin (Afenifere, South West)
- APC clearly does not qualify as an alternative party. Like I said before, APC has no ideology and it is therefore not good for Nigeria. - Ezeife (South East)
- This so called APC is again what you call political fraud because you may change the nomenclature - change it ten times over, did the people come from heaven? They are the same old people. You see, to me, I laugh at it more because the entire contraption is a creation of pain and anger . - Sule Lamido (North Central)
"Dangerous and terrible, house of deceit, no ideology, a political fraud, contraption of pain and anger" These are bad vibes, bad signals.

A typical Fx Trader will look at all these signals and call them a Convergence. It's time to dump the Tinubu brand or sink with it. It's not looking good.
