tempest01: The process was inconclusive before the death of the flagbearer. Yahaya was illegally imported to conclude the elections and inherit the votes. He inherited votes yes, he stood the concluded part od election. Apc had 6k plus votes during the bye-election. Technically he contested, even though the bye-election waa inconsequential. |

Sultty: yahaya bello is also on the list. Tinubu played a major role Which role did tinubu played? James faleke that was abubakar audu's running mate lost out. They told him to be deputy to yahaya bello, he refused. He went back to the national assembly representing one fed constituency in lagos. The logic then was since james didn't stand primaries and didnt buy form which is one of the criteria to be govr, he can't inherit the votes of his principal. Yahaya bello bought form, contested at the primaries, he came a distance 3rd or so. The person with the 2nd highest votes during the primaries had defected to another party, yahaya bello was the 3rd so he was drafted in. Tinubu lost out. |

tempest01: Yahaya bello didn't contest too na.
This in my opinion was one of the most lawless action ever taken by INEC and co in the country, claiming necessity.
The most legal thing that ought to have been done in that scenario was to complete the postponed elections with the dead candidate since elections started before his death and then subsequently swear in the vice. Yayaha bello contested, after the death of the original flag bearer and inec declaring the process inconclusive, yayaha bello was drafted in to replace him. He stood elections, had like 6k votes plus the inconclusive votes.. |

Brendaniel: well, for now I believe if the whole southern electorate agree to demand for a referendum, it will become inevitable for the north, I want a lasting solution and not a temporary one, I will rather go for a referendum demand as solution with sensitization as events unfold and I believe people in the south will begin to see reasons to join the movement, I was once against referendum and even strong supporter of Buhari but he really opened my eyes to see that Nepotism in Nigeria supersedes competence when it comes to the northern region, I am a Christian from the south east, I supported Buhari in 2015 not because of any gain, I just wanted a competent leader, but he proved me wrong( he was only going there because he wanted power to return to the north), even after he failed in his first term , I was expecting the northern region to join the south to vote for competence, but they also proved me wrong, that was when I knew the problem of Nigeria was not just bad leaders as I always thought but a regional Ideological problem, that was when I gave up on one Nigeria, I disliked Nnamdi Kanu before 2019 but I began seeing things differently, though I don't still support all his methods of approach, but I will rather go with a Biafra with Nnamdi Kanu than staying in a country with Buhari, It might be a harder approach to get a referendum but I will rather seek a referendum for a more lasting solution that future generations will be proud I did so... There is no whole southern, we have SS, SE and the Slave west. So dont even think of southern unity as long as Nigeria exist |
Politics › Re: PDP NWC Dissolves Kano Party Executives, Appoints Seven-Man Committee by poiZon: 1:12pm On Mar 30, 2022 |
Brendaniel: It will only have very little effect, what we should be asking for is a referendum, that's what the electorate should demand from the politicians, Our regional ideologies are different, the moment someone begins to do the right thing according to your own regional perspective, another region who does not share the same ideology will become a problem to that leader and cycle goes on, why was Jonathan removed( because the north did not share the same ideology with him) though there was corruption in the same government he couldn't serve a second term, but can you compare what is happening now with what happened in Jonathan's time, yet Buhari has served 2 terms with worse performance because he shares the same ideology with the people who removed Jonathan, this shows you that getting presidency and retaining it in Nigeria is not about performance but nepotism because of regional ideological differences, look at what the north wants and look at what the south wants, they want shariah, hisbah police, almajiri system and so on, and look at what the south wants, it is like negative and positive...
Even the Bible says, can two people walk together except they agree, to walk means to move forward, naturally human beings do not walk backwards, now as a nation since independence it has been from one disagreement to counter disagreements that led to coups, counter coups and even the civil war and till date the ethnic genocide from Fulani herdsmen and so on, as long as that disagreement remains which stems from the ideology of the regions, Nigeria cannot walk, it is not a curse, except we agree as regions to share the same ideology which I don't see happening anytime soon, the fastest solution to move forward as a nation is breaking up the country into smaller nations that agree with themselves with the same ideology because they will be able to walk which is moving forward. U should by now know how this country is.. The southerner may have a say but the northerners have their way. Referendum isn't in our constitution, even if a southern senator brings it to rhe floor of senate for deliberations, it wont scale pass first reading. The north have their mindset, the south is the only progressive region that wants growth but we r being slowed down by the north. U can't ask for what it isn't on thetable. What is on the table is power to come down south, who r the candidates, who is more competent not capacity.. We rally around, shove every wants of bag of rice and noodles asise and support him. Any other thing na waste of time |

Nigerians are yearning for an alternative but PDP is just not it U know the problem with nigerians, we have conceptualise this STRONG MEN thing over COMPETENCE. Buhari was a STRong man, only him could pull 13million vague votes in the North. Tinubu another Strong man that controls the entire south west.. Kwankwaso a strong man that has cult like followership... With buhari's strong fisted mien, he couldn't do nothing.. Corruption he was singing like wetin, he failed in tackling anything. Insecurity people even voted for him to end, today the entire country is now engulfed in one form of crises or the other. Brendaniel: All these ones are jokers, they are still talking about 2023 when there is fire on the mountain, If you are a Nigerian and all you can talk about right now is 2023, then you are very far from reality, Nigeria is a failed British experiment that had no foundation, that's why no matter the effort people have put in to build the country, it has always failed.
You can't build on a house with no foundation... So what should we be talking about? Revolution Protest that will lead to what? Oga, there is only one thing to do now, act right come 2023. So we need to start educating people on the voting the right candidates, candidates that don't see politics as a do or die game. Candidates that don't see politics as war, but a call to service. We need to sensitize citizens the need to partake in every elections and make sure they vote. Votes count and votes determine who will lead us.. 2023 is few months from now, if we dont prepare for it, we will be taken unawares and rushed into electing another idiots.. |

tekjansen2: 1.No government has been able to eradicate crime. The Italian mafia...a bit like our bandits...are still active, and have been for over a century.
2.Eradicating banditry is going to take more than just sending in the army to beat them up.....we need things like good schools, good border control, a diversified economy, etc etc. We need changed mindsets, people doing their jobs, etc etc. All that does not fit on a campaign poster, and people want quick quick.
PS.
It is easy to defeat the bandits, but defeating the conditions that created them is another matter. U r talking of good schools and all sorts.. Do we have good schools in southern Nigeria? Are there indigenous bandits here exception of ipob which is the aftermath of govt insensitivity in handling issues... North population is a serious concern that should be looked into. U see kids marrying 3wives with no jobs all because religion permits. Birth control should be a serious conversation in that part if we really want progress in this country. Politics › Re: If Amaechi Eventually Clinches APC Ticket, Only This Man Can Save PDP by poiZon: 8:31pm On Mar 27, 2022 |
EastisBae: As rumors continue to gather momentum that Amaechi is the candidate anointed to clinch APC ticket, then it shows that PDP would have to change their plans accordingly if they want to have any chance.
Once Amaechi is made the flag bearer of APC, Buhari and his people would be aiming to achieve two things:
1. Ensure that power rotates and a Southerner would succeed him to promote stability.
2. By choosing Amaechi, Buhari would be compensating him for the role he played in his emergence while at the same time hoping that Igbos would be placated with the argument that Amaechi is Igbo.
These points above have nullified any move by PDP to nominate a Northerner as its flag bearer. Any attempt by PDP to bring a Northerner at this point would make them severely unpopular and the party would be seen as selfish, unprogressive and anti-Nigeria. Therefore, PDP would have no choice than to bring not just a Southerner but also an Igbo man who is popular as a counter force.
At this point in time, no other candidate would be best suited for PDP than Peter Obi and here are the reasons why only him can defeat Amaechi in a free and fair presidential election come 2023:
1. Peter Obi is loved by the elite; the major reason why Atiku was able to enjoy the support of the elite was because he chose Obi as his Vice. The elite in Lagos, Abuja and all over Nigeria would prefer Obi to Amaechi because they feel he is prudent, not corrupt, and business minded unlike Amaechi that is a typical Nigerian politician.
2. While Amaechi publicly and unabashedly admitted that Nigeria collected Chinese loans without understanding what was written in the agreement before signing, Obi on the other hand is a thorough bred financial analyst who would always consider short, medium and long term effects of any loan or policy before going ahead with it.
3. The Osborne towers, Ikoyi scandal is still fresh in our memories and the open secret was that Amaechi was the person behind it. Everyone already knows that Nigeria is in a precarious position in terms of its finances therefore, someone like Obi is no doubt 100% better suited than Amaechi.
Aside the facts listed above. PDP should also ensure that a very popular candidate from the NW is made to be Obi's Vice. Now here is how the regions would likely vote should the two candidates emerge for both parties:
1. South West; although there would be voter aparthy in this region due to the treatment meted out on Tinubu. His large supporters would rather not vote or even vote for PDP in protest. Also, considering the anger brought about by suffering and hunger, voters here would rather vote for PDP than APC in the ratio of 60/40.
2. South East; based on certain factors I wouldn't mention now, this region would vote overwhelmingly for Obi and PDP in the ratio of 90/10.
3. South South; many would expect that being Amaechi's home region that he would get block votes but that won't be the case because it's ethnically heterogeneous. Folks in cities like Asaba, Uyo, P.H etc. may even vote for PDP than APC because aside PDP being dominant here, Obi is also believed to be a better candidate. PDP will win 60/40 against APC.
4. North; how the 3 regions of the North would vote depends on who emerges as the vice president of both parties. Abuja would definitely go for Obi/PDP and to an extent North Central. The Buhari factor is no longer influential like it used to be and many are hungry and hopeless, and they believe that APC is responsible for their situation. Politics is about selfishness, sentiment, betryal and above all winner takes it all. So all what u penned down here is inconsequential, whoever gets the pdp ticket will be accepted by everyone who thinks there must be power change to put Nigeria on the path of progress. What we just witnessed in the last 6+yrs is something the isrealites experienced while in egypt. |
