Electricity metre was never free, there was nothing like subsidy or subsidising of electricity metres, never.
We were the first set of people that used prepaid metre in calabar. They came n installed it in our compound, 1 3phase and 2 1phase meters.
The 1phase was sold at 25k while the 3phase was 50k.
Every recharge we made, money was deducted for servicing the meter sale, the remaining balance will go for electric units.

If u go online, electric meters r cheap, am not sure it will cost more than 40k.
