Guninerma231: Apt! Sad reality. How did you know that they don't have PVC? Is it the online Tinubu urchins that have PVC? This is the lie that those who intend to rig election sell to Nigerians. Anytime the North wants to perfect their rigging plan, they will tell you that the educated southerners don't have PVC while Almajiri in the North have PVC. By so doing they have justified why Boko haram-infected Borno will generate 1.2million votes while the peaceful Ondo state cannot boast of 800,000 votes. What baffles me tremendously is that the fools in the south believe this lie wholeheartedly. |

sweetjohn: Peter obi campeign organisers should do better than this. They should channel more energy in convincing people especially in the south east to get their PVC and also to educate them how to vote correctly. What is the essence of this match if the people matching don't have PVC.
South easterners should be mobilize and forced to get their PVC they way they forced sit at home on us. And lastly, getting PVC is not enough but coming out to vote on election day. Just as the sit at home exercise that worked 100% in keeping an average igboman inside his room on a working day, they should also apply the same force for every adult at the ages of 16 and above to come out to vote on election day. This attitude of it doesn't concern me during election is south east biggest problem that looks as if we don't have mouth politically.
Am sorry, but at this junction, force is the only thing that can make every adult in South East to have their PVC and to come out to vote on election day, if not no average igboman will close his shop to come out to queeu on the line trying to get PVC or to vote. If sit at home works maggic on an igboman closing his shop just to sit at home on a Mondays doing nothing then that kind of power is also needed to make them get their PVC and to come out to vote every presidential elections enmass. Why are you crying? South East this, South East that. We know your type. Mind your business. At the appointed time, everything will become clear. For now, stop wasting your energy on South East matter. |

30naira: True, but in the interim, look at the ones you know, there's always a private hospital where they are getting 50k a month It is 33k in the North. Other graduates also gets teaching job that pays between 15-70k while they search for a better job The country is so bad that nobody is sure of anything. Even doctors who are gainfully employed are struggling with their poor salary. Imagine a Prof of Medicine cannot earn up to 700k after income tax and other deduction. Mind you the Prof might have spent over 25 years in civil service. Meanwhile, a graduate of CRS with 2.1 can secure a job in the bank and start earning 235k with other allowances and bonuses. Within 5 years, if he/she doesn't get sacked, he/she can become a manager and start earning close to 1 million monthly. Additionally, a Chemistry/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Chemical Engineering/Food Science and Tech graduate can secure a job in a multinational company and become a manager after training. Immediately, the person is entitled to car grant, housing allowance, production bonus, leave allowance etc. It will shock you to know that, they are already earning more than a Prof of medicine. There is no automatic ticket to success. If you must succeed, make the best out of every opportunity that comes your way. |

You can imagine the frustration I taught with my B.SC Biochemistry (2.1) for 3 years in a private secondary school. Salary was between 18, 000 - 20,000. I had to do home lessons to push my earning to 30,000 naira/month. I was determined to succeed in Biochemistry that no amount of negative stories and testimonies would deter me. When I completed my M.SC, I continued teaching and was about to commence my PhD when this opportunity came. I am working in Nigeria. My point is that, diligence and the determination to succeed is what makes the difference. Many great men did not study your so-called professional courses. The former CBN of Russia studied Nuclear Physics. |

30naira: I agree with you that no profession guarantees success. But some are more likely to put food on your table than others.
You are probably among the 3% that secure good jobs. But the overwhelming majority in that your field will unfortunately remain unemployed, or do something unrelated to that field, even with a masters degree. Those private companies you mentioned there, how many job openings do they have in a year compared to the number of unemployed applicants?
Hardly would you find a nurse or doctor unemployed, or even working outside their field of study. Although there are lots of under employed ones as well.
I know nurses and doctors in Nigeria who work for multinationals and earn 6 figures in Nigeria. But again, those are the 3%, The exceptions, just like you. But majority will not reach that level. So make decisions based of the rules, not the exceptions. Maybe you are not in Nigeria many doctors struggle for 2 years just to secure a place for housemanship Some doctors have been unemployed for 5 years. |

Segzy19: Let your friend go do nursing o.... It's just a 3-year investment into her future. That's all.
So this is the way it works... 1. 3 years in the school of nursing 2. Once she passes her registration exam in Nigeria (nursing council exam) and her registration license is out, all she needs to do is to write IELTS (English exam). Once she passes that one to, then she is in hot demand abroad... Easily she can transit into UK... 3. Ofcourse, she will do the UK nursing registration... No much issues with that 4. She can even start working as a nursing assistant (healthcare assistant) while she processes her UK registration 5. Once she passes her UK exams (which is also not difficult), she her PIN and license to practice, she starts making money... All these can be done under 6 months of her UK arrival. 6. She can later enrol for her degrees (Bsc, Msc, PhD whatever) easily online or part-time while working...
I can assure you that she will build a house and buy a car for her parents within 2-3 years of working in the UK, especially if she is not married yet...
She will eternally be grateful to her uncle for the advise...
Na me tell you.... Please also tell people that challenges so that they don't get disappointed when they encounter challenges. Everything you wrote hear sounds like an express road to heaven. |

NaughtyBrainiac: Hello All,
A friend studied Biochemistry in one of Nigeria's Federal Universities, she has completed NYSC but she does not have a job yet.
Her brother who currently resides in the UK wants her to enrol in a school of Nursing in Nigeria and she is not happy with what her brother wants.
I asked her if her brother's reason is because Nursing is profitable in the UK and she said YES, that's his reason. The goal is that she'd eventually relocate to the the UK.
My concerns are:
1. Why study a course like Biochemistry and go back to a school of Nursing? Aren't there better alternatives? 2. Most of the people I know that attended school of Nursing always go back to the Univeristy for BSc. Nursing. 3. School of Nursing in Nigeria will take her about 3 years and I am sure she will still need to write some exams before she will be able to work as a Registered Nurse in the UK.
Are there possibilities of moving to the UK to study that version of Nigerian School of Nursing? If yes, how expensive is it?
On the other hand, if she's able to go to the UK for her masters, masters in what course can she apply for (please bear in my that she is a Biochemistry graduate) that would give her chances of securing a good job in the UK ( At least, a kind of job that would still make her earn something close to what Nurses earn)?
Please advise. Thank you You have to be careful. This is your destiny and nobody can advise you better than yourself. Are you passionate about Biochemistry or you just want a discipline that can guarantee you a job? Why did you study Biochemistry? What is your class of degree? There are many opportunities for a Biochemistry graduate. However, nepotism in Nigeria MUST affect your chances: If you graduated with at least a 2:1 and you are 25 years or below then you can easily secure a job in the following organizations if you are good enough to pass Aptitude test & interview: i. Audit firms: KPMG, ERNST & YOUNG, DELLOITE, PWC ii. Banks iii. Food Industries: Nigerian Breweries (M.SC required), Nestle, International Breweries, Coca Cola, Guiness Nigeria iv. Pharmaceutical Industries as Sales Rep Alternatively, if you are connected and know a big man in government: i. Research Institutes (We have more than 30 in Nigeria & Biochemists are well positioned. You start as Research Officer II and grow and become a director) ii. Monotechnic/Polytechnics as lecturer iii. Federal Universities as lecturer (M.SC, PhD required) iv. Government Agencies: DPR (as environmentalist), NSE (Graduate Trainee), NARICT, NILEST, NABDA, NAFDAC etc as Research officers v. Teacher (PGDE required) In Nigeria today, no discipline guarantees you a job, Medicine inclusive.A yoruba graduate may secure a better paying job than a doctor. I am a passionate Biochemist (B.SC, M.SC). Secured a job 8 months after my M.SC and today, I earn more than a professor of Medicine. Even a Matron cannot come close. If you are a fresh graduate, it is time to ponder and tell yourself the truth.
You need to be patient, prayerful, diligent, and determined to succeed.
No profession be it Engineering, Nursing, Medicine will guarantee you success. |

Politics › Re: As An Igbo Man, I'm Deeply Worried About Our Political Naivety by Polchiz(m): 11:24pm On May 16, 2022 |
Kwashiman: I did a honest assessment of the political situation and future of Ndigbo in Nigeria and cane to the conclusion that we're the cause of our own problems politically in Nigeria. What is that problem? We no Sabi play politics the "Nigerian way", let's forget about these entitled rants about the SE been marginalized blah blah blah, the deeper and more salient plight that we face as a region is that we are too loyal almost to a laughable fault, and that's why the North and to some extent the SW will always be ahead of us politically, we're far too emotional than logical. For context, the SE has been giving PDP its bloc votes for years now and what have we gotten in return for years of unyielding loyalty? absolutely nothing! ordinary VP sef we no see to collect...meanwhile the SW knew better to play the game of opposition in all the years they were not in the corridors of power, they patiently waited and stalked for an opportunity to gain political traction and find their ways back in the swing of power...that opportunity finally presented itself in 2015 when they made alliances with the North by merging their opposition party (which was only strong in the SW) with the emerging popular party which was APC at the time, the reward of which produced a VP for them; thus positioning them among other strategic corridors of power along with the North. Even the South South under Jonathan leveraged on the strong loyalty of Igbos to PDP to massively vote Jonathan (an Ijaw man) into power, what stopped PDP from giving power to an Igbo man despite us being a majority ethnic group? Where's that famous think-thank of true Igbo political consciousness that produced true political heavyweights like Azikiwe, Mbonu Ojike, K.O Mbadiwe, Micheal Okpara, Alex Ekwueme etc? Why can't we just ditch our loyalty to PDP and adopt a party like APGA which has its grassroots firmly rooted in the fabrics of the South East, why can't IPOB which has a popular following among lots of youths in the South East use its popularity to actually educate and encourage SE youths to get their PVCs and vote massively for leaders who will first and foremost promote the interest of the people at local and Federal level? Why should IPOB keep trying to threaten people in the East who truly want to vote, thus constantly creating a worrying vacuum of lack of political leadership, participation and voters apathy in the SE?
2023 is around the corner and once again we've put all our eggs in one basket by fooling ourselves to think Peter Obi will get the party ticket to run for president, we all know the North might clinch the ticket again under PDP while we settle for crumbs...why can't the likes of Peter Obi just leave PDP and campaign under a new political party or an already established one like APGA? PDP is the greatest enemy of Igbo political interest as history has proven, and if we don't turn corners fast, we will be left in the dust forever while other regions keep rotating the presidency among themselves.
Lastly, we will NEVER get Biafra by doing useless sit-at-homes, shouting "Biafra or death ",and causing unnecessary in our own region...Nigeria won't care and will only send more battle ready soldiers to our region to cause more chaos and destructions, and don't even crying to UN to come save you when it gets hot cause those ones don't give a toss about Africa's problems, YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.
Lastly how can we get Biafra in the long term? It's simple! You're a fuCCking majority tribe for goodness sake, learn to play the game the way the North and SW does and stop the emotional blackmail, let's start making alliances with the other 2 big boys and play politics the ruthless way...we've allowed minority tribes among our South South neighbors to play on our intelligence in our daft effort to be "our brothers keepers", and they've produced a president already and might do so again while we are left with nothing but insults and scorn from the same people we've always seen as our brothers. Enough of the emotional politics, nothing is fair in politics (at least when it comes to Nigeria), so why can't we use our numbers and majority status to join the North and play their own brand of politics? Then and only then can we get a shot at power, and with power comes opportunity...maybe then can we have an Igbo president who is sympathetic to the Biafran cause push for constitutional amendments in the legislature to allow for referendum and reconsideration towards secession. STOP deceiving yourself. |
