The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) assisted Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) has distributed farm inputs to 188 benefiting farmers in Ebonyi.

Mr Sunday Ituma, the State Programme Coordinator (SPC) of IFAD-VCDP made the disclosure in Abakaliki during the official flag-off of the 2022 west season input distribution, to beneficiary farmers organisations.

Ituma said that the programme was in collaboration with the Federal Goverment of Nigeria and the input distribution was under its matching grant scheme.

"The impact of the COVID 19 pandemic made us support 188 farmers in 2022 in contrast to the much we supported in the past.

"This is still not a small support as it still amounts to over N20million.

"The farmers would pay 50 per cent of accessed inputs while IFAD-VCDP will contribute the balance of 50 per cent under the matching grant scheme.

He said that the benefitting farmers cultivating rice would each receive 4 bags of NPK brand of fertilizer and two bags of the urea brand of the product.

"Each of them would still receive one bag of 50 kg improved rice seedlings and agro chemicals each.

"The farmers cultivating cassava would access improved cuttings, four bags of fertilizer and agro chemicals each.

Dr Fatima Aliyu, IFAD-VCDP National Programme Coordinator commended the Ebonyi goverment for its numerous support to the programme especially the resourcefulness of respective commissoners for agriculture.

Aliyu represented by Dr Chyka Unanma, the programme's Agricultural Production Advisor said that Ebonyi plays a leading role in IFAD-VCDP activities due to its comparative advantage in rice and cassava.

Prof. Humphrey Nwobashi,
the State Commissoner for Agriculture and Natural Resources urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the inputs to enhance the state's agricultural wellbeing.

"I urge IFAD-VCDP to evaluate the actual performances of past beneficiaries to ascertain those who are performing optimally, averagely or poorly.

"This will enable us ascertain areas of support or improvement and not the generalisation that everyone was doing.

Mr Okike Onwuasoanya, General Manager of state Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) commended IFAD -VCDP for its unity of purpose which has enhanced agriculture in Ebonyi and other participating states of the country.

Mrs Stella Mbam, one of the beneficiaries thanked IFAD-VCDP for the gesture and pledged to judiciously utilise them.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi says it will convincingly win the Local Government Area elections on Saturday while allaying fears of an opposition victory such as in Osun.

The State Chairman of the party, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha made the disclosure in Abakaliki while speaking on its readiness for polls across the 13 LGAs of the state.

Okoro-Emegha said that, unlike Osun where the party recently lost the gubernatorial poll due to a reported internal crisis, the Ebonyi chapter was fully galvanized for a landslide in the council polls.

The state chairman said that the party will also win other electoral positions in the 2023 general elections.

"I can confidently inform you that APC is firmly on the ground in Ebonyi and also at home with the masses.

"Losing the LGA polls to any other political party is, therefore, something no one should envisage.

"We have diligently and painstakingly done our homework hence the scorecard is very glaring.

"We have nurtured it through peace building and other reconciliatory efforts as well as inputs from our leaders and the masses.

He noted that Governor David Umahi has through his magnificent projects demonstrated that APC will always be the party to beat in any contest.

"There is no local government area you will not find architectural masterpieces, courtesy of the governor.

"The ripple effects have a direct bearing on the socio-economic prosperity of the people and this will also make them Ebonyi decide in our favor".

Okoro-Emegha said that the party was united in achieving a common goal as all members no matter their positions, are recognized and given due respect.

"We do not underrate any stakeholder as the strengths of all leaders are galvanized to achieve unity of purpose and success in all contests.

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Charles Akpuenika has felicitated with the State Governor, Chief, Engr David Umahi on the auspicious occasion of his 59th birthday celebration.

Akpuenika, who is the Leader of non-indigenes in the state eulogised that the governor weathered the storm of political and social nuances, to achieve incredible feats.

"This is aptly demonstrated in your monumental and out of the world Infrastructural strides coupled with social re-engineering of Ebonyi state,".

He noted that the governor was a man of firsts in the annals of the state's history with several landmark feats that have placed it above several others in the country.

"He is the first governor to construct an ultra-modern Dubai standard shopping mall in the state and the first to construct functional, aesthetic water fountains around Abakaliki and environs.

"The governor is the first to practically enhance the wellbeing of traditional rulers in the state by increasing their salaries by over 100 percent and offering them brand new jeeps, a gesture also extended to church leaders

"He is the first to embark on the construction of a 30,000 capacity international stadium and the first to construct a western world standard, fully equipped Government House.

Akpuenika said that the governor realizes the important role women play in the development of any society which made him empower his wife Rachael to embark on several human uplifting interventions such as construction of houses for widows in the 13 LGAs

"He has actually commenced the construction of the ring road which connects eight LGAs of the state. a feat not achieved by the previous administrations.

2023: Ebonyi APGA candidate to deepen capacity building, improve food production, others


Bernard Odoh, the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship Candidate in Ebonyi has reiterated his readiness to deepen capacity building for improving food production, education, and service delivery system in the state if elected in 2023.

Odoh, who asserted in a one-on-one interview with reporters in Abakaliki, said would improve the training and retraining of personnel in agriculture and civil service.

The Gubernatorial Candidate said that, firstly, his government would reduce taxation and restructure the civil service system.

"When I come on board, I am going to harmonize the issue of taxation. We are not going to over imposed taxes on people to encourage small scales

"The retraining of personnel is very imperative and we shall embark on that to make the people more efficient and effective in all sectors.

"When I become the governor, my business as governor is to chase investment opportunity and venture into what can bring people to invest in Ebonyi for business.

"Education is the bedrock of development, we are going to restructure the system. We must rearrange our educational curriculum to speak with modern reality. In doing this, we shall increase our budget for education.

"Our primary and secondary schools are shamble and we cannot fold our hands. First, we shall go to hold a summit to assess the system. My government will only embark on projects based on people's needs.

"Any infrastructure that does not have value for people is a waste. Let me tell you, I am not running for the governorship position because I am an Ezza man, I am running because I am an Ebonyi man.

"In my government, there shall be no hide and seek policies," he stated.

On who is his contender, Odoh said that he has no one standing aside the issue on the ground to improve healthcare, education, agriculture, job creation, and eject poverty for the people.

"I have no contender from any party, my contender is on how to improve the system such as in education, security as well as human capital development amongst others," the Candidate explained.

The Ebonyi state government has rued the shortage of COVID 19 vaccines and solicited the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for more delivery.

Governor David Umahi made the declaration in Abakaliki while receiving the Director, USAID Health Population and Nutrition Office, Mr Paul Mc Dennot who paid him a courtesy visit.

Umahi represented by his Deputy, Dr Kelechi Igwe, said that the government had judiciously utilised the vaccines donated to it and those it procured.

"We promise to also judiciously utilise vaccines which USAID will donate to us.

"We also seek USAID intervention in enhancing the supply of our nutrient value affected by low supply from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The governor said that the bill for the inuaguration of a drug management agency will soon be passed into law by the state House of Assembly.

"We have conducted interviews to fill the human resource gaps in our health system to enhance its efficiency.

"The have sourced the best health personnel who would be sent to various primary and secondary health facilities in the state.

"We have also provided ambulances at various primary health facilities across the state for evacuation of patients to secondary facilities when needed" he said.

He noted that the state government pays great attention to the health wellbeing of its citizens because an unhealthy society is dead.

"Ebonyi is a good partner of USAID and despite inherent challenges, you should not fret in your dealings with us.

"These challenges are compounded by the low federal allocation accruable to the state and the attention given to other sectors is still hinged on this lean allocation".

The Director, USAID Health Population and Nutrition office, Mr Paul Mc Dennot commended the state government's support to USAID in the state, especially the team from the state ministry of health.

Mc Den not urged the state government and other relevant partners to work towards overcoming the hindrances militating against the uptake of COVID 19 vaccines in the state.

"Ebonyi should overcome these challenges to meet its COVID19 uptake targets for the benefit of its people.

"The government should improve on the human resource segment of its health system and also on financing the sector.

He noted that the USAID team visited health facilities in several communities and was impressed with the contents of its interaction with community leaders, and project leaders among other stakeholders.

2023: Organisation hails court ruling in favour of Odii as Ebonyi PDP guber candidate

The Director of Media and Publicity of Anyichucks Grassroots Organization, Mr Abia Onyike, has commended the court ruling in favour Dr IfeanyiChukwuma Odii as the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi for 2023 polls.

Onyike said in a news conference on Thursday in Abakaliki that the court ruling was a good one in the efforts to sustain the democratic system of the nation.

On his clarifications on the judgements of both the Court of Appeal, Abuja, and the Federal High Court, Abakaliki, delivered on July 19, he explained that Odii remains the rightfull flag bearer of the party ahead of 2023.

It recalls that Odii and Senator Obinna Ogba had been enmeshed in a legal battle over who is the authentic governorship candidate of the party for 2023 polls.

The federal high court in Abakaliki had on July 19 declared Odii for the second time the authentic gubernatorial candidate of PDP in the state.

The court however, declared the rescheduled primary of June 4 and 5 that produced Senator Ogba as another governorship candidate as invalid and unconstitutional.

According to Onyike on the judgment, the Apex Court only remitted the appeal filed by Ogba to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to re-assign the matter to another Judge of the Federal High Court for re-trial.

Onyike's statement reads: "the essence of this meeting is to clear the air on the two important Court Judgements made on July 19, namely: the Court of Appeal, Abuja and the Federal High Court, Abakaliki.

"Following these two Judgements, it has become more imperative that we inform the general public and our teeming supporters about the true situation of things regarding the two Court Judgements.

"It is equally important we make it abundantly clear that Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odi remains the authentic Gubernatorial candidate of our Party in Ebonyi.

"First of all, let me draw your attention to the summary of the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Abuja delivered on 19th July, 2022.

"The Appeal Court remitted the appeal filed by Ogba to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to reassign the matter to another Judge of the Federal High Court for re-trial.

"On the other hand, the Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki passed another judgment on a related issue and nullified the Governorship, Senate, House of Reps and House of Assembly Primaries held on the 4th and 5th of June, 2022 which purportedly produced Ogba and others as PDP candidates.

"The Court declared the exercise as unconstitutional, illegal, null, and void.

"Moreover, it was equally held that the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) did not monitor the primaries as required by the Electoral Act 2022.

"The Court upheld the authentic PDP primaries conducted on 28th and 29th of May, 2022 which produced Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odi and other candidates elected during the primaries," Onyeike explained.

Also Speaking, Sen Igwe Nwagu, Odii's Running mate said the court judgment indicated that the nation's democracy is growing.

Nwagu urged the party faithful to always work in oneness to win in all positions in the 2023 polls.

"Odii, otherwise known as Anyichuk can take the people of Ebonyi to the promised land," he added.

"Ebonyi has a standard football club"---Commissioner counters opposition guber candidate


The Ebonyi state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Charles Akpu-Enika has said that the state has a standard football club which will compete in the Nigeria National league (NNL) cadre.

Akpu-Enika made the assertion in Abakaliki while reacting to the promise of floating a new football club for the state, made by an opposition party gubernatorial candidate.

The commissioner said that he decided to react to such a promise to save the public, especially football fans from being deceived.

"We are in an electioneering period where people will say what they can do and what they cannot.

"The truth must however be told that the state currently has the Salt City Football Club of Abakaliki.

"We would soon conclude all registration processes for it to compete in the Nigerian National League cadre.

He added that the team sourced its players from the 13 Local Government Areas of the state and a pool of talented ones across the country.

"The team has so far played six friendly matches against tough oppositions from different parts of the country in preparation for the NNL challenge.

"It won four of the matches and drew two and is continuously being strengthened for credible league participation.

"We hope the completion of the ultra-modern,30,000-capacity international stadium in Abakaliki will help its cause as the government is not distracted in its sports development drive.

Akpuenika assured soccer fans that national football actions would soon be brought to their doorsteps, urging them to disregard any information about floating a new club.

"Appeal Court did not give verdict against Odii--Ebonyi PDP guber candidate"---Onu


The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi state, Mr. Silas Onu has said that the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, did not give any verdict which was against the Gubernatorial Candidate of the Party in the state, Dr. Ifeanyi Odii, popularly known as AnyiChuks.

Onu in a statement made available to newsmen, said that those who are celebrating that the court gave a verdict in favor of Senator Obinna Ogba as the party's candidate was suffering from "acute cerebral meningitis.

The PDP Chairman said the appeal court only ruled that a person who was not a party at the trial court can appeal as of right, without the leave of court.

In that decision, the court ordered the retrial of the case before a different Federal High Court Judge - without going into the merit of the case, of course.

"This outcome is in Odii's favor as it offers him, a rare opportunity to present a better case where the CTC of INEC report on the said primary election will be tendered.

"Presently, with the order for retrial, everything remains as it is.

"No order was made for any action or declaring anyone winner of the primary as doing so will mean overreaching the trial court that will re-hear the case,".

He noted that if the senator had a case, the court of appeal merely afforded him an opportunity of presenting such a case before a different judge of the Federal High Court.

"Finally, it is instructive to state here that the reasoning of the court of appeal as to the notice of appeal filed, without first obtaining the leave of court, will be challenged at the Supreme Court.

"Processes are already being prepared for this as Ebonyians are urged to ignore any attempt to foist illegality on the PDP through a malicious extension of a court of appeal order to include things not contemplated".

The Association of Master Bakers and Caterers of Nigeria (AMBCN) Abia state chapter says it will fully mobilize its members to participate in the association's withdrawal of service slated for July 20.

Mr. Chris Uba, Chairman of the association in the state disclosed in an interview, noting that all members were affected by the present difficulties being experienced due to the high cost of baking materials.

The Chairman said that the association has also intimated the bread sellers association in the state over the development because what affects AMBCN, affects them.

"They are not happy about this but there is nothing we can do due to incessant increment in the prices of bakery materials.

"In the past, increment in prices of bakery products took years to be affected but not so now that this situation has forced it to be incessant.

" A bag of flour which used to sell for N5,000 is now N28,000 and keeps increasing as the week goes by.

"A bag of Sugar which used to be N5,000 now sells for N30,000 and this increment also affects groundnut oil among other bakery materials".

He urged the Federal government to take proactive steps to check the situation due to the role the association plays in family nutrition and employment generation.

"The government should adust the tariff on wheat importation to suit flour millers as bread should not be seen as a common commodity.

"Bread plays a vital role in family nutrition because before one finishes cooking food for the household, the person will give the children bread and tea for breakfast,"

Ubah also noted that bakers are among the highest employers of labor in the country as an average bakery employs more than 20 people.

"The government should realize that we are helping them to check unemployment and when we are out of business, the youths we employ would be on the streets and further compound the security challenges being experienced.

Mr. Oliver Nwagbaloso, the Secretary of the association, said that most bakeries were folding because of the teething challenges being faced as a result of the high cost of materials.

Nwagbaloso said that the situation had become unbearable and was seriously affecting the welfare of bakery workers.

"We urge our customers to understand our plight which is the real situation that the government ought to address".

It will be recalled that the withdrawal of service was earlier scheduled for July 13 but was shifted to July 20 to accommodate the premium bakers association which indicated interest to be a part of it.

The Federal government has warned the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) independent monitors in Ebonyi state against intimidating the program's beneficiaries.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Farouq, gave the warning in Abakaliki during the onboarding exercise for the 29 Stream two independent monitors of the program in the state.

Farouq represented by her Special Assistant on Administration, Mr. Kingsley Ngene said that monitors who intimidate beneficiaries would be expelled from the program.

"We have officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Department of State Services (DSS) working with us on this program.

"Those found culpable of such activities will also be handed over to these authorities,".

The minister congratulated the monitors on their appointments and noted that the program was working with nongovernmental organizations and civil society groups to support them in their assignments.

"Monitoring at the states requires you to collaborate with the NSIP team as their work cannot be done in a vacuum.

"You will be given additional prerequisite training, and receive engagement letters and electronic tablets as working tools for monitoring the program,".

She noted that stream one of the programs had 4,452 independent monitors trained and enrolled across the country in February and March 2021.

"They were trained and onboarded by officials of this ministry working in close collaboration with state focal persons and NSIP officials.

"Using the social investment management information system application, our stream one monitors have been uploading their reports daily.

"This gives us good visibility into the program's implementation in various communities as the stream two monitors are expected to continue using the same platform.

Mrs. Ann Aligwe, Ebonyi Commissioner for Human Capital Development and Monitoring, assured us that her ministry would assist the independent monitors to succeed in their duties.

"Ebonyi leads in the monitoring of NSIP activities as we abide by Gov. David Umahi's mantra of accountability and probity.

"My ministry, for instance, monthly monitors the homegrown school feeding program in the state's schools as we do not wait for officials from the national level to do so for us,".

Mr. Nonso Igwe, one of the monitors thanked the FG for the opportunity to serve the country and pledged to make judicious use of such.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged its newly recruited personnel in Ebonyi to be civil in their dealings with the public.

The State Commandant of the Corps, Terrumum Gbue gave the urge in Abakaliki during the passing-out of 66 new officers to the command after an intensive three-month training.

Gbue congratulated the intakes and urged them to uphold the corps motto: 'defending the defenceless'.

"You are presently dorning part of our uniform and very soon, you will wear the whole.

"You should be civil in your relationship with all manner of persons as civility does not entail weakness.

"We thank President Muhammadu Buhari for approving this opportunity which made you part of us and you should dutifully guard such.

"We also thank our Controller General, Abubakar Audi for directing that you be trained adequately at this command.

He prayed that none of the intakes would be 'forced to leave the job' and enjoined them to be disciplined.

"There are some of you that would not be posted to this command but I pray that you all remain here because we need more personnel.

The State Commissoner for Police, Aliyu Garba urged the intakes to distinguish themselves in their duties to assist in the fight against insecurity in the country.

Garba represented by the command"s Assistant Commissoner of Police in Charge of Operations, David Kolo, informed the intakes that the main job presently lies on the field.

The State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Uche Iyke, advised the intakes to be courageous and tactful in the discharge of their duties.

"You should shun compromise on your duty such as conniving with criminals in negative tendencies.

The intakes engaged in several regimental drills as awards were given to deserving ones.

EBONYI GUBER 2023: PASSIONATE APPEAL FOR GOOD CONSCIENCE AND REPAY OF GOODNESS


The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youths Development and Sports, Hon. Charles Akpuenika has urged for good conscience on the successor to the ebullient and wonder-working Governor of the state, Chief, Engr David Umahi.

According to the pragmatic 'game changer', dating from the 1920s or earlier to the present time, the first generation of nonindigenes who arrived where is today known as Ebonyi State, had settled mainly on the continental land of the Izzi clan.

The Izzi landowners had received these sojourners more than any other clan or group within the same Ebonyi enclave.

The commissioner noted that such did not occur for anything and thus must be treasured solemnly by the dwellers of the urban and other none indigenes elsewhere.

"The sociological, as well as the economic impact of this rare magnanimity and outlandish spirit of accommodation on the part of Izzi people, is a win-win situation for all sides.

"This has manifested in the areas covering the political, economic, and cosmopolitan upgrading both for the settlers and their host community.

"The none indigenes or settlers have continued to enjoy their residency at the behest of the wonderful Izzi people.

"Given the foregoing, therefore, the ultimate nomination by the Ebonyi State All Progressives Congress (APC) Zoning Committee and genuine, frank endorsement by His Excellency Engr David Umahi, of an Izzi indigene, Rt Hon. Francis Nwifuru, to be the next Governor of Ebonyi State, couldn't have been more thoughtful, timely ànd equitable,"

The commissioner described Nwifuru who is the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, as naturally, a trophy, treasurable and glamorous character even before joining politics. His choice will simply and seamlessly accentuate his aforementioned God-given endowments as a human being for the benefit of the State.

"From all practicable considerations, it would be ethically unwise, spiritually reprehensible ànd socio-cultural unconscionable to have been born or settled on someone's land for generations, subsuming to his tradition and culture in the process and yet deny him of a deserved opportunity of promotion or advancement.

"Rt. Hon Nwifuru stands next in turn to be the fourth Governor of the state and the very first human being from Izzi land of Ebonyi State to be so honored.

His personal decision to step out for the office is to address equity among other pawns on the political chessboard".

Akpuenika concluded that this was not a time for mundane politics but a time to applaud, consummate and appreciate the sophisticated and robust civilization of a wonderful clan in Nigeria called Izzi.

"They have shown unmatched love for settlers and hospitality in their midst, accepting everybody into their anthropological milieu with neither division nor discrimination against anyone.

"We should therefore reflect on this now and always and it shall be well with all of us.

"We wish God's blessing upon Izzi land, Urban community, and Governor David Umahi.

"We also wish God's blessings upon the APC, Ebonyi state, and Nigeria".

The Member representing Ikwo/ Ezza South federal constituency at the national assembly, Çhief Chinedu Ogah, says he has secured bail bonds for 250 less privileged inmates in Nigeria and abroad.

Ogah disclosed his hometown, Item-Amagu, Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi state during the empowerment of his constituents and celebration of his 46th birthday celebration.

The lawmaker said that the affected inmates were incarcerated in Malaysia, Turkey, Libya, and other Asian countries while some were in Nigeria.

"We spent millions of naira for this purpose and also ensured that they were adequately empowered on return to the country.

"We also empowered traders, artisan,s and skilled individuals within and outside the constituency,".

Ogah noted that he has distributed over 350 motorcycles, 45 tricycles, weaving,g, and grinding machines to the constituents.

"We have awarded scholarships to over 300 indigent students of higher institutions across the country and paid the West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for over 1,000 candidates.

"We also assisted 520 indigent graduates to secure employment in federal and state civil service.

"We have constructed 32long-span bridges and culverts, procured and installed 15 transformers, drilled 42motorizedd and hand pump boreholes among others.

He thanked Governor David for attending the event and pledged that the people would vote massively for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in all positions during the 2023 general elections.

Umahi represented by his Deputy, D.r Eric Igwe commended Ogah for his giant strides at the national assembly, noting that he was a blessing to the constituents and the state.

"You started engaging in philanthropy even before you became a lawmaker and we wonder whether it is the same national assembly of which others are members.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila lauded Ogah's infrastructural and human empowerment strides, noting that he remained shining lighting the House.

Gbajabiamila represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulkarim representing Ningi/ Warji federal constituency of Bauchi noted that Ogah' peaceful and consummate nature had endeared him to members of the House.

HRH Charles Mpkuma, Chairman of the Ebonyi Traditional Rulers Council said that the people would continue supporting Ogah because he has enhanced their wellbeing.

A Former President Aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sam Ohuabunwa has urged the new Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola to boldly tackle corruption in the judiciary.

Ohuabunwa who is the Immediate Past Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, gave the urge in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen.

The Convener of the New Nigeria Group urged Ariwoola to painstakingly pursue the task of ridding the judiciary of corruption.

"I strongly recommend that he attends to the lingering issues of judges' welfare.

"He should above all work assiduously to make the judiciary independent.

"This will truly make it the last hope of the common man.

Ohuabunwa in the statement, commended the immediate past CJN, Tanko Muhammed for resigning to attend to his health.

"I commend him for towing the honourable path of resignation and wish him God's healing.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has commended Chief Chinedu Ogah, Member representing Ikwo/ Ezza South federal constituency of Ebonyi for making the House proud with his infrastructural strides.

Gbajabiamila represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Abdulkarim, Member representing Ningi/ Warji federal constituency of Bauchi made the commendation on Friday while inaugurating some of Ogah's projects in his constituency.

He called on politicians to emulate Ogah who has strived to make his constituents happy though life-enhancing projects.

"The streetlight projects, rural health care centres, communities civic centres, water boreholes among others constructed and rehabilitated by Ogah, are true reflections of democratic dividends.

"We are happy that such feats were accomplished by our member and we urge the people to judiciously utilise them.

The Ohofia undergraduates Association, weekend, sensitized secondary school children on sex education, menstrual hygiene, gender as well as career choice and dangers of cultism, amongst other life issues not included in thier study curriculum in Ebonyi State.



Eye witness reports; no fewer than 500 students who were drawn from different secondary schools assembled at Ohofia community secondary school in Ohofia, Ishielu Local Government Area of the State for the seminar.



The focus based ranges from mental health, Entrepreneurship, Drug abuse, cultism, citizenship, menstrual hygiene, career choice, goal setting, sexuality as well as human trafficking.



The President of the Association, Queen Deborah Chisom Igwe, said the aim was to expose the students to sensitive topics in life that they should be aware of, particularly those issues not included in thier curriculum.


"The essence of the seminar is to sensitize the students on some sensitive topics that are not included in thier curriculum,


"such as drug abuse, human trafficking, mental health, menstrual hygiene for girls, and when you look at it you'll discover that these topics are not included in thier curriculum". Igwe said.


She pointed drug abuse as a global pandemic that has done much harm than good to the society, noting that sensitizing the children would create the awareness they need to help them cope with anxiety.


"like most of these girls don't know how to handle thier menstrual hygiene, and it's very important to create the awareness in them so they will not be victims of lack of knowledge.


"we try to help them network, and to help them in career choice, some students are very intelligent but they lack fluency when it comes to communication, but when you bring like minds together, it would help to network better", She added.


Queen Deborah equally called on teachers, as well as principals in secondary schools to as much as possible organize such Seminars to help the children, and urged the Government to also include "these topics in thier curriculum so that it will serve a learning guide for the children".



Some of the resource persons includes the coordinator of NANS zone B, comrade Olisa Alfred Nwurukwu, Mr Onwe Augustine Onwe, the State Field officer of Youthhub Africa.



They encouraged the students to acquaint themselves with thier civic responsibilities as well as identify the need to rise above gender stereotypes and become successful in the society irrespective of backgrounds.



Also present at the event was Prince Darlington Igwe, he taught the students on the dangers of indulging in drug abuse, Dr Edwin Elechi on mental health, while Mrs Ukwuta Christian further exposed them into career choice as well as Barrister Aliugo Christian, who talked about cultism, both resource persons pledged to fund the school fees of students who'll Emerge winners of the quiz competition at the event.


One of the students, Miss Precious Dike, from government girls technical college Agba, said the event was worth it and Thanked the organizers noting the huge benefits of the seminar to them as young people.



Ohofia undergraduates association is a body that unites students of the community, both home and in diaspora that are in higher institutions such as the school of health, polytechnic and universities.

The Ebonyi state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon Charles Akpuenika has praised Governor David Umahi for ensuring steady construction work on the 30,000 capacity international stadium in Abakaliki.

Akpuenika gave the commendation in an interview in Abakaliki noting that it was astonishing that work could go on steadily on the project in the face of the current economic realities.

The commissioner said that with other capital projects such as the international airport, construction of flyovers, roads, the completed and functional David Umahi University of Medical Sciences, shopping mall among others, one wonders where the governor gets the money.

"In some states, construction of such project could be what their government would be battling with for eight years.

"The most astounding issue is that despite these monumental projects, the governor still initiates new ones everyday".

He noted that visitors to the state have all laid testimonies to the governor's Infrastructural strides and such lay credence to the fact that he is a prudent manager of resources.

"President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo among other top dignitaries who have inspected and inaugurated Umahi's projects can not finish seeing all his projects even if they have one month to do so.

"I come from Anambra and declare that what Umahi has done under seven years has not happened any where else in the country.

"I laugh when past governors claim they left huge sums of money in their states' treasury.

It was with joy, love and show of compassion as the honourable member representing Ikwo/Ezza south federal consitutency in the house of representatives, Hon Chinedu OGAH, commenced activities lined up to celebrate his 46th birthday yesterday with visits to orphanages, hospitals, correctional centres, the centre for menial job seekers also known as Okpoku - ndu-oru , opposite Pa Ngele Oruta Township stadium Abakaliki, Beggers corner, opposite St.Theresa' Cathedral, Abakaliki.


While at fetha 2,he paid millions of Naira to offset the medical bills incurred by indigent people from #30,000 to three hundred thousand naira (#300,000).

He also promised to liaise with the management of the hospital to assist them to procure solar energy to provide needed power for the medical equipments, like oxygen among others. He narrated how he lost his first son in that hospital due to non availability of oxygen.


At the Abakaliki correctional center,he urged the inmates not to conclude erroneously that their lives have ended but to be of good behaviour pointing out that he was there for 6months for an offence he did not commit.



While at Nekeson filling station, Nkwo-agu, the joy of Ebonyians knew no bounds as he gave free fuel to motorcycle riders, tricycle operators and motorists alike, after confirming that they have their PVC's.


The event making his birthday continues today, Wednesday with the inauguration of completed projects across his Constituency.

2023: Organisation lauds INEC for publishing Ebonyi PDP National Assembly Candidates in favour of Odii


The campaign organization for Ebonyi governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for publishing the names of the elected National Assembly candidates ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

The published candidates were in the line-up of Odii as the authentic candidates for the National Assembly positions.

This is contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Abakaliki on Tuesday by Mr Abia Onyike, Director of Media and Publicity, Campaign Organisation of Dr IfeanyiChukuma Odii, who court have declared as the flag bearer of PDP in Ebonyi.

According to Onyike, the successful candidates are from the line-up of the PDP gubernatorial candidate of the state, Odi, who emerged with them from the PDP's Primaries conducted on May 28 and 29, 2022.

"The Primary Election was the one mornitored by INEC and was adopted by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the PDP as the authentic PDP primary election in Ebonyi state," he stated.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the Federal High Court had on June 7 nullified the factional Primary election of 5 and 6 June, 2022 that produced Sen Obinna Ogba as another governorship candidate.

Ogba is currently representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone in the national assembly.

The court also declared the primary null and void and upheld Odii's primary.

Odii had on June 20 received a certificate of returns from the PDP's leadership as the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate for 2023 elections.

The Director noted that the candidates for the Senatorial posts are as follows: Sen. Lazarus Nweru Ogbe, Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, Dr Samuel Ominyi Egwu, Ebonyi North Senatorial District and Sen. Michael Ama Nnachi, Ebonyi South Senatorial District.

"The candidates for the House of Representatives are: Mr victor Umoke Aleke, Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency. Mr Barnabas Chukwuma Ofoke, Abakaliki/ Izzi Federal Constituency. Mr Johnson Obinna Nwachukwu, Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency.

"Others are: Vitalis Ogbonna Nwanne, Ezza South/ Ikwo Federal Constituency. MrJerry Okechukwu Obasi, Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency and Mr Uduma Enwo Igariwey, Afikpo North/ Afikpo South Federal Constituency," Onyike explained

The Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, has warned indigenes of Izzi clan of Ebonyi state against açcepting gubernatorial running-mate positions from candidates of various political parties in the state.

The group which is the umbrella body of all youth groups of the clan gave the warning as part of resolutions reached after its meeting in Abakaliki.

Chief Ben Nwovu, the Forum's President said it resolved that any indigene who accepts such position was insulting the people.

"Izzi is the largest clan in the state and home to three out of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

"This is the highest dominance from any clan in the state and we are home to the state's capital, Abakaliki among other urban inhabited areas of the state.

The forum"s president said that it was the turn of the clan to govern the state in the spirit of equity and fairness which the state's governance has been hinged on since 1999.

"We supported our brothers from Ohaukwu to produce the governor under Ebonyi north senatorial district in 1999 and the Ikwo clan under the central district in 2007.

"We did so to Ohaozara under the southern district in 2015 despite the fact that one of our illustrious sons keenly contested.

"We believe that with the three senatorial districts duly taking their turns at the gubernatorial seat, it should ordinarily return to the northern district which should be us.

He noted that all indegenes should therefore support the All Progressives Congress (APC) for sticking to this principle of equity among other political parties in the state.

"We therefore wish to thank the APC for its successful primaries where our son who is the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Chief Francis Nwifuru, emerged as its gubernatorial candidate.

"We appeal to our brothers and sisters who contested for the gubernatorial position in other parties, to join efforts in ensuring that Izzi produces the governor in 2023,.

Mr Godwin Nwogha, Chairman of the forum's elders council appealed to the people to obtain their Permanent Voters Cards in actualising the clan's ambition.

Nwogha who is also the President of the Izzi governorship project also urged indigenes of other clans to support its cause as the clan supported them when they sought such.

Chief Darlington Mbam, a member of forum's elders council also disclosed that it would support Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi who is the APC candidate for the Ebonyi north senatorial district's election.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives Candidate for Ohaukwu/ Ebonyi federal constituency, Chief Eze Nwachukwu Eze, says he will redefine the empowerment concept if elected in the 2023 general elections.

Eze in an interview in Abakaliki, said he would prove that empowerment was not all about distributing motor or tricycles to his constituents.

The immediate past chairman of the APC in Ebonyi, said that he would instead dwell on establishment in deference to the widely held notion of empowerment.

"Those who represented and still representing my constituency doled motor and tricycles among other items to youths in the name of empowerment.

"This gestures instead, improverished these youths as they struggle to prove that they can maintain such items.

The former commissioner for market development in the state said that he would instead, establish the youths into their future to become responsible members of the society.

"I will offer scholarships to indigent students and use my business experience to make them self sustaining and employers of labour.

"I was the state chairman of the National Association of Small-Scale Industrialists for seven years and the national vice chairman of the Miners Association of Nigeria for five years.

"I was a member of the first Nigeria/ China investment forum and used such opportunity to understudy over 50 manufacturing companies in China.

He noted that he would liaise with relevant agencies in the country to secure facilities for the youths in establishing their various business ventures.

"I will segment the establishment trainings into small scale industries, agricultural and its related allied including Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sectors.

"I was impressed with the expertise deployed by youths with their mobile phones in the ongoing voters registration exercise.

"I am optimistic that the youths can deploy such expertise in enterprenual ventures to create a better society for all,".

Nwachukwu expressed optimism of clinching the seat during the elections, noting that Gov. David Umahi has united the party in the to state for ultimate electoral successes.

"There were no parallel primaries of the party in the state as such notions are only being propagated by the media.

"People cannot stay in their private offices and conduct charades which did not follow laid down party and electoral guidelines.

A Non-governmental Organization (NGO), Amaka Foundation has advised members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi to embrace peace and fine-tune strategies to win in various positions come 2023 polls.

Mrs Amaka Engene, President/Founder of the Foundation gave the advice on Saturday in Abakaliki in a congratulatory message to Dr Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, the governorship candidate of the party in Ebonyi

It recalls that the federal high court in Ebonyi had on June 7 declared Odii the winner of the party's primary held on May 29 in the state.

The court, however nullified the rescheduled primary elections of June 6, that produced Senator Obinna Ogba, who Representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone in the national assembly, as another Gubernatorial candidate and declared it null and void.

Odii had on June 20 received a certificate of returns from the PDP's leadership as the Ebonyi gubernatorial candidate for 2023 elections.

"We, Amaka Foundatiom are calling on all agrieved members of PDP in Ebonyi State to embrace peace in order to move the party forward.

On voter card registration, Engene said it had commenced sensitization campaigns in communities in order to garner more support for PDP ahead of 2023 general elections

The Ebele and AnyiChuks Like-Minds Organisation has begun campaign and sensitisation of the public in Ebonyi communities on the need for the Voters' Card Registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Mr Emmanuel Ugbana, National Coordinator of the body, stated in a news conference in Abakaliki, that only the Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs) could give individuals the right to vote and be voted for the candidature of their choice come 2023 polls.

Ugbana explained that the Political Organisation drawn from the 36 states of the federation, embarked on the campaign in the efforts to ensure that every eligible persons were registered and collect their PVCs.

"Yes, the body after well attended meeting and deliberation, we hereby resolved as follow: that we appreciate INEC for extending the period of the registration exercise in the country.

"We appreciate the citizens in Ebonyi for their determination to ensure that they have the PVCs following our campaign programme.

"We call on INEC to open more registration centres, possibly at all the pooling units in the state to have access to the centres.

"We also strongly advocate that the votes of the electorates should count in determining winner in the future elections. The day of apathy to voting during election is over," Ugbana said.

The Coordinator, however commended the flag bearer of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi, Dr IfeanyiChukwuma Odii, popularly known as AnyiChuks on his emergency as governorship candidate.

2023: Respect democratic process, stop parading self as Ebonyi PDP guber candidate, Campaign Organisation tells Sen. Ogba


The Anyichuks Campaign Organization has advised Senator Obinna Ogba to desist from parading himself as Ebonyi governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and respect democratic processes ahead of the 2023 polls for interest of peace in the party.

It recalls that the Federal High Court had on June 7 nullified PDP's primary elections of June 5 and 6 that produced Ogba as candidate for the Party.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abakaliki to newsmen, Mr Abia Onyike, Director, Media and Publicity, AnyiChuks Campaign Organization advised Ogba to stop parading himself as the governorship candidate of Ebonyi for 2023 polls.

AnyiChuks Campaign Organization is for Dr Ifeanyichukuma Odii, whose the court had declared the authentic flag bearer of the PDP in the state.

Odii won in the three-man delegate party's primary of May 29, that was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the statement, "we have overtime tolerated and ignored the excessive antics of the Sen. Obinna Ogba Campaign group.

"The reason for our matured approach to issues was our understanding that we were members of the same family engaged in internal power struggle to elect our candidates to face other parties come 2023 General Elections.

"We looked forward to someday when we shall mend fences, reconcile and close ranks to face the common enemy. And that time is NOW.

"However, we wish to seize this opportunity to clarify our position on the following: With all due respect Sen. Ogba, who contested the 2022 PDP Governorship Primaries in Ebonyi State and lost to the winner, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odi, we plead with him to show some restraint and maturity by respecting the democratic processes.

"Stop taking laws into his own hands. His current posturing constitutes a clog in the wheel of progress of our great party of the PDP in Ebonyi State.

"We take exception to Sen. Ogba's continuous and unrelenting crusade of falsehood and his irridentist commitment to misrepresent and disobey the sacred orders of a Court of competent jurisdiction.

"His continuous disobedience of the orders of the Federal High Court, Abakaliki, which nullified the PDP primaries of June, 5 and 6, 2022 has been noted. His conduct is not only sacrilegious but an act of contemptuous effrontery against the judicial authorities," the statement read.

"For instance, Sen. Ogba has continued to parade himself as the PDP Guber candidate for Ebonyi state, advertising his Certificate of Return which the Court had already nullified.

The statement also noted that Ogba, had on June 23 failed secure "Stay of Execution" in the Court of Appeal, Enugu,

"After it, he went ahead and addressed a small gathering of his supporters and purportedly presented his so-called Deputy Governorship Candidate/Running mate to nowhere in particular.

"The PDP NWC has nothing to do with Ogba's Running Mate as it is an exercise in futility. The Party has already screened the Deputy Governorship Candidate to Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odi, in the person of Sen Igwe Nwagu.

"Is this the case of a bad loser or a case of unbridled desperation, impunity, anarchism or impersonation or what?

"Was it not on the June 21, 2022 that Ogba approached the Court of Appeal to apply to be joined in the case at the Federal High Court Abakaliki, to enable him file his Appeal?

"So, if he was the PDP Governorship Candidate as he falsely/continuously claims, what then did he go to do at the Court of Appeal? If Ogba cannot obey a Court Order, then he has no business going to any other Court for that matter, including the Court of Appeal.

"He who goes to Equity must go with clean hands.

"A person who promotes the flouting of Court Orders is an anarchist and an anti-democratic element.

"When a Court of Law gives a judgement on an issue and someone deliberately commissions himself to be misinterpreting the judgement in the eyes of the public, that individual is engaging in criminal contempt of court and should be getting ready to go to jail.

"Our Lawyers will not hesitate to file Contempt Proceedings against him if these calculated acts of brigandage are not halted forthwith," the statement stated.

2023: Ebonyi APGA guber Candidate to prioritize human capital development, Security


Prof Benard Odoh, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ebonyi has pledged to depeen human capital development and security of life and property if emerge as governor of the state in 2023.

Odoh, who made the assertion in a press conference in Abakaliki, unveiled his running mate, Dr Nkata Chukwu, a Medical expert.

He said he would create an affordable approach for governance and invest more on the people.

"On business investment in the state, we will balance the issue of taxation and create business friendly environment.

"We will reduce cost of taxation. Those in business are usually partners in economic development of any state. Let me tell you, Ebonyi state have opportunity investment in the three senatorial zone.

"When i become the governor in 2023, i will invest on citizens through job creations, provision of good healthcare facilities, standard education and proper security.

"I am not going to embark on needless projects, what will be my focus are people oriented projects. I will engage the youth and ensure that the rate of cultism and other crimes are reduced.

"Yes, we are fully ready for the election and APGA has good structure to win the governorship seat in Ebonyi come 2023.

"I challenge my opponents in other political parties to come for debates so that we will know who is prepared to do the job," Odoh stated.

On South-East Politics, he called on leaders to pursue regional interest instead of personal interest to strengthen democracy not only in the zone but Nigeria at large.

It reports that Nkata, Odoh's running mate hails from Okposi community in Ohaozara local government area (LGA) of the state.

He studied Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos and has an MSc in Health Financing and Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) amongst others.

In his remarks, Nkata, Odo's running mate thanked him for choosing him and noting that he would work assiduously to ensure he deliver on his vision.

2023: NYO commends PDP for giving AnyiChuks certificate of return as Ebonyi guber candidate


The Youth of Ebonyi under the aegis of Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO) has commended the leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) on issuance of certificate of return to Dr Ifeanyichukwuma Odii as the authentic flag bearer of the party in the state come 2023.

It recalls that the party had on Monday, June 20 issued the certificate to Odii, whom court had on June 7 declared winner of the party's Governorship primary held on May 29.

The court, however declared the rescheduled primaries of June 5,and 6 that brought Senator Obinna Ogba as another gubernatorial candidate null and void and upheld Odii as the flag bearer of the party.

Odii and the Senator Ogba, representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone had tussled for the governorship ticket of the party with both claiming the authentic candidate.

Mr Kelechi Igwe, State Chairman of NYO, told newsmen in Abakaliki on Tuesday, that the youths in the state are happy for giving the certificate of return to Odii as the authentic flag bearer of PDP in Ebonyi.

"We thank God that the leadership of the party has honour the decision of the court by issuing Odii the certificate, who is the rightful candidate.

"We, therefore congratulate Odii, popularly known as AnyiChuks. The people's choice, the incoming youth governor of Ebonyi. We stand with you come 2023.

"We urge for peace among members of the PDP in the state. They should support Odii because the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already affirmed the May 29, 2022 primary that produced him as candidate of the party," Igwe advised.

The Pioneer Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi state, Chief Chaka Nweze has described Governor David Umahi as the Nostradamus of the time over his clairvoyant abilities on the nation's political manifestations.

Nweze who was the Former Executive and later, Caretaker Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state, said that Umahi's foresight that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had no plan to give the south east their due political right, makes him the "man who saw tomorrow".

"Umahi who is an astute party egg-head and an authority in political intricacies, foresaw that the PDP had no plans to rightfully zone its presidential ticket to the south east zone.

"He subsequently joined the APC to integrate Igbos at the mainstream politics and this has attracted several political and economic benefits to the south east.

"The construction of the second Niger bridge, visits of President Muhammadu Buhari to Ebonyi and Imo states, rehabilitation of several federal roads in the zone among others, are pointers that the south east is being integrated in the whims of national politics.

"The governor himself has steadily testified that the miraculous transformation of Ebonyi was made possible under the APC led administration at the centre courtsey of its collaboration and support to the state.

The Former Vice Chairman of the Ebonyi state chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) said that the recent nomination of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar shows that Umahi was right when he maintained that the PDP had no plans for the south east.

"Some people would argue that the APC also failed to cede its presidential ticket to the south east but the logic is that the water was stirred by the PDP.

"The APC was determined to cede its presidential ticket to the south east but when the PDP entirely jettisoned the idea of power shift to the south and zoning to the south east, the APC had to go on the defensive.

"The jettisoning of the power shift made the PDP to throw its primary open and a northerner, Atiku Abubakar clinched the ticket.

"The APC as a responsible party, at least still believes in power shift to the south and as true democrats, its governors from the northern extraction, maintained that power must shift to the south.

He urged Ebonyi people to get the Permanent Voters Cards to vote massively at the 2023 general elections and be counted in the scheme of things.

"When we get a high voting number, we would be sought for negotiations and be taken seriously as major determinants in the political equations.

"This is the time for our people to be politically active and getting their PVC is a veritable way of achieving such.

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) assisted Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) has urged benefiting farmers in Ebonyi state to judiciously utilise the farm inputs they accessed.

Dr Chyka Unanma, the programme's Agricultural Production Advisor, gave the urge in Abakaliki while accessing the extent to which the beneficiaries have utilise the inputs it recently distributed to them.

Unamma said that the programme which is collaborating with Federal Government of Nigeria offered the inputs to enhance the farmers activities in the present farming season.

"The inputs which include: seedlings, fertilizers, herbicides among others, were offered freely to the vulnerable farmers in the participating local government areas of the state.

"We visited some of the beneficiaries' farms to access the level of the inputs utilisation and were encouraged by their enthusiasm.

"We inspected the rice nurseries they prepared and urge them to adopt the modern technologies we taught them.

"The inputs were offered as stimulus to ensure bountiful harvest at the end of the farming season.

Mr Sunday Ituma, the IFAD-VCDP State Programme Coordinator thanked the team for the visit and noted that the monitoring would be strictly enforced by the state office of the programme.

"We monitored their receipt of the inputs and the prepararion of the rice nurseries.

"We would also monitor them on going to the field, their planting activities, fertilizer application, weeding and harvest.

"The intervention is intended to enhance the farmers' productivity, increase their income thereby enhnacing livelihood among other outcomes.

Mr Darlington Onele, the state office Agricultural Production Officer noted that the programme has adequately educated the farmers on modern technologies to apply in their farming activities.

Mrs Jane Nworie, a Beneficiary from Ezza North LGA of the state, thanked IFAD-VCDP for the inputs, noting that they were accessed at no cost as intended.

The Ebonyi state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Uchenna Orji has said that Governor David Umahi would soon disclose his next political step after a failed bid at the country's presidency.

Orji made the disclosure in Abakaliki while reacting to reports that Umahi has substituted his younger brother Austin, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ebonyi south senatorial zone election.

The commissioner said that people should be patient to "hear from the mouth of the horse".

"I am neither the political party not the candidate as the horse will soon speak.

"You will then hear an unfettered declaration in that regard.

He remarked that there were several positives to take from the outcome of the APC presidential primary though it did not favour the governor.

"We might not had won the battle but would win the war in due course.

"We might had lost during the primary but we won as victory belongs to God.

Road to 2023: APC's Presidential Candidate will have Ebonyi votes, no other party----Gov. Umahi


Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has said that votes from his state would definitely go for the Candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and not the Labour Party (LP) or any other come 2023 presidential election.

Umahi made the remark in Abakaliki while addressing leaders of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), traditional rulers and Town Unions, and members of the state executive council after swearing in newly appointed Commissioners and Special Assistants.

The former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, is the presidential candidate of the APC, while a former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, is that of the LP.

It recalls that Umahicontested and lost the presidential ticket on platform of APC polling 38 votes.

According to him, my state will not vote for any party apart from APC. The state that Labour party has helped should vote for it.

“Our party is APC and not the Labour Party. We will not vote for the Labour Party. We will vote for APC. The states that the Labour Party has helped should vote for them.

“The agenda of God for Ebonyi State is Ebonyi State agenda and that is what you should be telling them when they come to ask you who you will vote for. Tell them not to look for our votes, our votes belong to APC," the Governor stated.

Umahi also decried the way the state was not recording high registration of voters in the ongoing voters' card registration exercise.

“It is very unfortunate that the different local government areas in the state are yet to witness high turnout of voters’ registration in the state, apart from Afikpo south that has so far registered over 71,000 voters, others are yet to make any meaningful impact,” Umahi said.
