emmancecute: Pope191, accept my heartfelt condolence. This is a lesson to some of us that as been priviledged to still have our loved ones around especially our parents. Pls, lets try and take good care of them while they're still alive so we won't have regrets while they're gone. I can't stand the pain of loosing my mother, not just yet! That's the fulfillment, won't say I gave my best, but at some point I stopped arguing with her as I understand life better, even if I don't agree wit her opinion, it's ohk. @Cheerfulgiver I'm pulling thro And thanks again to everyone, I appreciate |

CheerfulGiver: Pope191, our favorite in house apple bigi ambassador... First off, I called no names in my post. If you feel threatened to reply me in this way, Na your pocket bro, I couldn't care less. Your epistle hasn't changed my personality, my attitude or my next post. It won't.
I wanted to reply you point by point, but I realized it will take me almost 45mins to do that. Time I don't have because I'm chasing 95k in 3 days. And again because in your very first line of this epistle unwarranticus, you kinda admitted I have a particular way of reasoning which you don't understand and which I dare say you will never understand because parallel lines don't meet.
You make excuses, I don't. You care about rude riders, I don't. You have negative pride, a stupid ego that tells you you're too big to drive people around, you deserve better and you drive because of condition, I don't. Life doesn't give a fuck_. You play with the cards life has dealt you. If I call people lazy, it's the truth, cos I've met lazy drivers, hundreds of them. You choose to avoid that reality, I don't. You're not the only one that has lost a loved one. But has the world stopped spinning? It hasn't. I have too, but I realized life is on a per head basis.
I don't care about your opinions or how my opinions affect you or anybody. I am basically laying out what I do and telling everyone who cares to listen that if I can do it, they can. I have a blunt and combative personality, but when it comes to what I do, I do it best. I think, I strategize and I re-strategize. Words that may be alien to you, but I don't care. I don't indulge in self pity and excuses. If I did, I won't be where I am right now.
Accept that I won't change. Accept that you will never understand me. Accept that I will never care about your opinions. People that understand me, understand me very well and their mentality about this hustle has changed. You can wallow in your ego and self pity, we have other ideas.
Hope you've had Bigi apple today. I prefer Bigi Tamarind. You can try that one as well. Has a zingy taste. Lol, no one is asking u to change, let's just keep eyes on the goal without preaching hostility. I see folks here addressing another with disdain and to me it feel's like, what's the difference btw the I have arrived drivers and the riders, like our ego is our only disease without a cure or what? Yep u didn't mention me, but the essence of message is always to encode to decode and here is a public forum *smile*. Chucmoore is a good example that motivation can b pass without insults, but like u say, it's ur personality and good or bad is not really in my place to say. Anyway: lost my mom this morning, kind of seeing the world from a whole new angle. Tempted to go drive, just to distract myself since I live alone, I don't even know what to do. So my nigga, it's really all peace from here. |

CheerfulGiver: I remember when this guy was hustling and making money last year on indriver, making money and encouraging others to do so... He had a goal in mind. Now we've seen it.
Hustle hard in naija with a goal in mind and you'll achieve it. No excuses for being lazy. No rewards for sleeping under tree and discussing with already congregated drivers. Some people we meet driving uber have already given up on life, but those are the people some people look up to as role models...
My message to us today is be an ant, and elevate your life. It's not impossible. It's only for a while... God rewards hard work. Stop reading discouragimg long epistles on this thread... Okay read, but discard from your head immediately! Again, be an ant, with a goal in mind.
Chucsmoore, God bless you more. I motivate people here, but trust me, you've also just motivated me. Like I always tell people, aim for the stars, landing on the moon is also accepted. If I aim for Canada and miss, I'll Sha land somewhere that's not Nigeria.
Brother, I tap into this blessing, I suck into it, I plug into it, I swim inside it, I baff inside it... It shall be well with you.
Una Don see am Na. Even if your goal isn't Canada, have a goal and work on it.
We moove. Bro the normal me would have let u florish in ur understanding, but I'll beg u to stop making it come off like they are enemies of progress here. It's all about one love, this job is one of the most see finish hustle one can lay hands on, like a rider listened to phone call from another waiting rider yesterday and she says " she's very rude oo, which one is oga! Oga!! Like she know u before"... I just smile and told her, I'm used to that, no b today. So every driver that climb a step of success, kinda worth celebrating. I remember telling my name sake to keep it low and let his come back b a bang. He said his determined and nothing can stop him once he made up his mind. Thumbs up, that should b the spirit, not insults and throwing fowl words up and down. May ur steps by guided at @Chucmoore and greater heights from u. Bro one of those things u failed to understand is ppl only put up their success stories, lot have done mistakes just even trying to follow ur path, but it's ohk, who cares? I only wish u could get off that high hill of bringing enmity between brothers. The last time I checked, we r all here to see each other progress. I've seen lot of peeps here that run mouth, tag along seeing others as lazy, either u r misleading them or motivatin them, but I noticed most of them are on the fence of looking for cars and it is kind of crazy how I have to b dragging strength or words with someone that is yet to activate an app. I could tag cars on me and few millions to my name as a type this, maybe that's what u called success as they mean absoluting nothing from a soul that just lost someone dear to him this morning after going thro pains for days. Just grow up and help people if u want to help, no one is honestly bewitching or wishing u ill fate. It's all love from here and really wish u will learn to do things honorary. Chucmoore just motivated lot of peeps and I didn't think he insulted one soul to achieve that. Learn |

Felicity0001: Well, its a good thing you're already thinking and mapping out plans on what to do with your life after graduation and its also applauding you're already an undergraduate enterprenuer, i must say I fancy your courage, enthusiasm and mentality especially in this country Nigeria where there're limited opportunities.
To be honest it not easy getting a job after school even if you're lucky to have one most of them the pay is nothing to write home about, parents are dying in silent after spending their youthful life and money training their children only for them to graduate without a reasonable job... It very sad. Many graduates and undergraduates because of that have resorted to go into internet scam and other unthinkingable and unimaginable crimes like kidnapping, car hijacking among others. A few that were lucky get laid off may be after a few months due to bad government policies, contract jobs, companies folding up and the likes. This and Many more reasons are why most of us are found doing the uber driving job not that we enjoy it, no! But we have to make ends meet and then hope that things gets better with the state of the country for our children growing up even if not for us again because our own parents didn't suffer all of these we are currently being faced.
Yes of a truth you'll make money driving with uber/bolt but another truth is you'll have to put in several hours of your time driving morning till mid night, 5-6days and most time 7days a week. You'll be expose to both good and toxic humans, many will be ungodly while few will be pleasant, among all of these things you'll try to be calm for the sake of your account getting blocked because you wouldn't want to loose your source of earning. Even with the hundreds of thousands you pay as commission to uber/bolt you're still at their mercy because they have thousands of drivers paying even higher commission than you to them. You'll loose interest trying to apply for jobs because you'll have the thinking, how much can an employer pay you? After all I'm grossing 980k monthly driving. You'll loose weight, you won't have time to hang out with friends and family neither would you want to go on holidays because the surge are tempting so you want to be online at all time. You'll start having sight problem after some time because of flashes of light and your eyes being focus all the time...you'll start feeling your legs shake while walking or sitting down due to long hours driving, some will start having pot belle due to late night eat so constipation is inevitable, many will develope hemorrhoid popularly known as pile, late night eating, indigestion and long hours sitting down to drive can cause this this problem... The unfortunate drivers get robbed, get involve in an accident some their cars taken away and sadly a few once lost their lives to either sickness, accident or to car hijackers, never to be found again unless with God's intervention. Yes something must kill a man but people die in their sleep in their old age so why would a man die while on duty or to diagnosed sickness? Sad!
So my dear friend(s)[newbies] these are most of the truths celebrity driver aka cheerfulgiver and many others with little or no knowledge about the hustle won't tell you, know it now b4 making that decision to join the hustle.
Me i go speak my mind, I stand with and not just by the truth. I will die for it! I've lost a lot for this same truth oh but I've gain more than I've lost.
So like I initially advised "the bolt/uber shop is another man's idea" you are already an entrepreneur so think something bigger so you can stand among CEOs and not among celebrity drivers with unrealistic dashboards.
A word is enough for the wise. Wow! U beat me to this post, was thinking I'll paste it here, when I'm done for the day. Nice one |

radautoworks: I usually don't bother with stuff like this but here you go (note, this is not a personal opinion but actual corporate mantra in fortune 500 companies):
There are three things most important to an employer- skills, experience and morals. There is an unspoken fourth which I will touch on at the end. A new college graduate likely has two of those- cutting edge skills and hopefully morals.
1) MORALS a new college graduate has not yet learnt bad habits and can be molded to what you want. One who has been out of the workforce for a while is out of the workforce for a reason and has likely learnt things a certain way. you know what they say about an old dog and new tricks
2) SKILLS a recent graduate was taught the new way of doing things. At the rate technology today is evolving, a person out of the workforce for a while is essentially obsolete as they have not been on the cutting edge. Case in point, my fortran knowledge was useless in almost all circles by the time I wanted to rejoin the workforce. Recently, one of my best hires quit. Not because she did not enjoy working for me, but because she realized she was forgetting all her programming knowledge and she was damn good. So she took on a personal project paying her half of what I paid her, but allowing her to continue her primary skill set so she didn't become obsolete. I made her the promise (which she accepted) that once we were ready to employ her skill set- which we would - she was welcome back.
3) EXPERIENCE now this one used to be the coco. However in recent times students work on all sorts of projects and gather all sorts of experience in their fields with side hustles before they ever graduate. So, experience has not been quite as big a deal as it used to be in the past. I will take a hungry recent graduate with the skill set over a "more experienced worker" who is not quite as hungry or eager to prove himself. For example, every single front desk worker I have was employed young, green and hungry to build something together- and I couldn't be happier. I have only one worker who was out of the field for a while (due to motherhood) that I hired for her maturity and I haven't regretted it but I will not make it a habit. She struggles to keep up with the younger ones sometimes but makes up for it with her thoroughness, stability, attention to detail and customer service.
The unspoken one.. COST. FRESH COLLEGE GRADUATES ARE CHEAPER TO KEEP. Many companies after cultivating some young hires will slash their older workforce to save cost. I won't engage in this practice but it is normal practice.
There are some other caveats but I think this is enough.
EDIT: that being said, as a fresh graduate, you have the largest platform and positioning you will EVER have to leap to something great if you play your cards right. Giving that up with plans for Uber is a TERRIBLE idea. As an angel investor, who do you give your money- the young, hungry upstart with fresh ideas or the guy whose been around and couldn't make multiple ideas work? All it takes is two years out of college to be the second guy. Swing for the fences straight out of college and then if that doesn't work, fall back on plan B. While it is said no one ever became wealthy working for someone else, they definitely had a better chance of that working for someone than driving Uber!
NB: I'm not talking down Uber drivers, I'm just saying it was never any of you guys dream to do this for a living as a kid was it? For where? It still beats my imagination up till today, tho I have always dream of having my own transport company which was what gave birth to here. Give a car to a driver, he mess up, menh! Let my taste the water, still tasting the water till now |

I noticed most people already know what they want to do before even asking questions, they are just looking for supporters club. So best thing is to do an exposé of the situation and allow the person decide having had access to better information. Information can't b 90 percent accurate here, I just wish we should b mindful of the advice we give people here. Secondly, u said is not auto, I don't know if you have driven such for 4 hours in traffic and how ok it is for you to drive that everyday. Thirdly, the brand: I don't know much about it so my opinion is void, but do ur maths on mechanical know how, availability of parts, cost of parts and what's the coin of driving such car for a long time. Springboot: Do you need a dash cam to convince bolt to block your account instead of just warning you? Except bolt has it in their terms and condition, you are the fraudulent one here for aksing for additional fare, I think she was right to report you. you should have made the trip offline from beginning. Boss let's not get over holy on this matter. The truth is we Nigerians abuse things, e hailing is supposed to convene people and not cargo, maybe I am wrong. Even if the person have to come with his or her laugange, then D.W.T most come to play or the driver use his or her discretion. You can't tell me because u book for a ride, u have the right to carry fridge or a big generator along with you. I can't even carry fridge, but if I have to, then it have to b on special negotiate. I did took 500 for loads today, yes! I did. 3 riders and my trunk full with dia equipments. I didn't say a world till I start feeling D effect on my shocks, told them straight up, they should have told me all this before coming to PU, now my shocks r at their mercy, do they still plan to pay same amount. pleasureosondu: of course when done properly, motivation is bae but right now, we have competition. There's a thin line between motivation and competition. If not managed properly, it births negative consequences. We're already witnessing the effects of both largely because it wasn't done properly. Dashboard screenshot here was more like bragging rights for some or to settle scores. there wasn't any practical suggestions for drivers who were interested in attaining such figures. The absence of these details gave rise to partners desiring an increase in rental fees. But are they aware of the time and dangers associated with the high figures on the posted dashboard?
