I would like to ask you a question and i need an honest answer. Is the infantry man responsible for making policies? If you are gonna levy an attack it should be appropriated to the right body. The lack of empathy is cold hearted. Regardless of ideologue these are 23 soldiers missing. They have families, spouses, kids..Its easy to be an arm chair general from the luxury of your room rejoicing over fate of the 23 soldiers. Like i said before some of these guys spent their christmas holiday in a trench manning general purpose machine guns with a can of Amstel malt and bread. Many are the victim of the very thing you are complaining about. Why not channel your disdain to the policy makers, why rejoice over the possible demise of 23 Nigerian soldiers?
Good point here.

My brother, charity begins at home, if NA is still honorable, he would have enlisted his own son here.
I will still reiterate it that NA has lost their substance, they are not, cannot, has not given any body freedom. Ask Benue, Taraba people, they will tell you more

I think you are slow for not yet realizing that the Buhari government is entrenching terrorism. What will you call the killings by the hired Fulani militia who are obviously protected by the Buhari Army and Police? Didn't you read about how the Fulani killers are renaming and occupying villages they sack in Plateau State?
I hope you ask your State Governor to donate land to Buhari for the proposed Fulani cattle colony.

Nigerian leaders are disgrace to the nation and to the world at large, if only the sane countries would ban Nigerian leaders from their countries until they make Nigeria work. They are all huge rogues, vampires.
Only the leaders? How about the followers? Sane countries should ban both the leaders and followers and deport Nigerians living in their countries back to Nigeria to go fix their country.
You the followers vote in bad leaders and escape the consequences of your actions by running to Europe and North America. Not fair.

Nigeria developed in the 60shuh?

i dont have nothing to say to you. click and read.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/return-regional-structure/
Thank you for posting the link. It seems you have a problem with comprehension. The article you posted is the opinion of one Mr Paul Orie, Editor-in-Chief, West Coast Trader. In his article, he spoke against Regionalism, but he called for True and Genuine Federalism where States can generate their own funds instead of going to Abuja every month to collect a handout. In effect, he is calling for resource control (how can you generate your funds without controlling your resources?).
He also stated clearly that Nigeria only made progress in the '60s.
So the article actually supports my position. The article is obviously in support of restructuring.
Go back and read the article again. Or is it that you don't understand what restructuring is all about? Can you state why you are against restructuring?

Restructuring does not equal good maintenance culture.

Either we privatize the airports...or we pay high taxes.

Oil and agric don't generate enough cash for our needs...restructuring or no.
Why would you be advocating high taxes in a society where there is zero accountability? The first step in moving Nigeria forward is to restructure. The Unitary system is the root of all the problems we are facing.

it would turn chaotic...the reason this country is as it is is because of the love of money and greed...

before oil came Nigerians coexisted in peace. .. as oil came greed came...people lusted after power...war came strife came sense of entitlement came or otherwise, why is the FG looking for oil in the chad basin? so that the north can also lay claim to being an oil producing region afterall that is why threat of secession came to be

...the hope of every secessionist agenda was built and centered on oil not any ideoligical principle...oil producing Cameroon and Gabon has the same presidents for how many years now ? Gabon's current president took over from his father in 2009 after his death. His father ruled for 42 years. Biya nko ruling since 1982 thats about 36 years...has the citizenry fared any better? thats the future of a Nigeria divided along tribal lines....worse off than the current status quo

too much self centeredness and greed...
Go and read and enlighten yourself on why and how the civil war happened. Stop exposing your ignorance. For Nigeria to start developing, like it did in the '60s, there must be restructuring with resource control. There must be Fiscal Federalism. For your information, call for restructuring is not the same as call for secession. The Unitary system we are practicing is keeping us from making progress.

Blame your state government.
Blame State Government? It is a Federal Government property. This is why everyone should support restructuring. Governance in Nigeria should be decentralized. And there should be resource control. If we do that, then you can hold the State Governments accountable.

I am afraid that Nigerians are falling to media propaganda and disintegrating the country into full blown civil war. None of these folks on the internet have met with fulanis in person to verify authenticity of media claims.

Nigeria media, just like their India counterparts are drum beating lyrics of war by constantly creating fear and hatred amongst the people. Personally this is not new to me. It is been 11yrs now that I knew about this was coming.

Mortgage loans do not operate in isolation. The land and property registration, valuation mechanisms are inadequate. Dispute resolution/litigation is too slow

There are simply no quality houses for low income people in Nigeria. So govenment must be involved in designing and setting standard for what is the minimal acceptable for Nigerians . If government does not build they must mobilize developers with some kind of strategic plan

e.g 1million houses of 10 million naira each in 20 years . then thinking about where the development capital will come from.

The houses will have to be built and paid for before people move in and start paying mortgages. So while availablity of mortgages is important there is a lot more that needs to be done.

Even if mortgages are available how many can afford them

@ 4% interest rate a 10 million Naira 25 year mortgage will incur 52330 nara a month repayments.

How many Nigerians can afford that especially in the rural areas and how much house can 10 million buy
No argument with you there sir. Good points you are making. Someone like you should be involved with policy making and implementation for the country.
On the example you gave of 4% interest mortgage, of course a lot of Nigerians can afford such. There are a lot of Nigerians paying more than one million Naira a year in rent who would be better off accessing such facilities. Every little bit would help.

That is how Buhari thinks or thought in 1984

If I have capital to invest in an economy where government is coming "down hard" on landlords would I build a house?

Why only landlords?

Why not come down hard on garri and rice sellers to make food cheap?

This your comment is very sensible sha lipsrsealed.

Truth is markets work on demand and supply.

Housing supply is short and that is where the focus should be.

What is the ratio of Houses to people now and what does government aspire to.? How do we get from A to B and how long will it take.

Any idea of coming down hard on businessmen is just disguised communism

Why not tell airlines to collect their money when they arrive at their destinations
Sorry I didn't intend to come across as reasoning like Buhari. But I don't know of any other country where residential rents are paid one to two years in advance. Where will an honest person (a rare commodity in Nigeria) get such fund from?
Rent should not be paid more than three months in advance.
Federal and State governments need to do their part by making affordable, easily accessible mortgage loans available (as you suggested earlier). That is the way to solve the supply problem.
Anyone that can raise 1 million Naira or more to pay 1 or 2 years rent in advance should be able to access a mortgage to build his own house.

No no....1 month advance bro
Exactly. 1 month in advance makes sense. Even 3 months makes sense too. Government should not allow landlords to demand 1 year rent in advance, except for commercial properties.
But government should make it easier for landlords to eject a tenant. Government should also make mortgage loans easily accessible at affordable interest rate.

Is only in Nigeria some peoples would reject this change policy. And some people keep praying Nigeria go beta,Nigeria can only be better when we welcome the policy. In united state of America, private owners don't build houses.Government build houses and give it out in low payment for everyone. That is the reason you see Nigeria citizens will go there to hustle, after two month of getting job,it find it easy to accommodate himself.
In which United States of America does the government build houses and give out? Big, fat lie. What the US government does is to provide easily accessible mortgage loans at low interest rate.

This intelligent man has been
infected with the mediocrity of
Buhari govt.

Imagine a top govt functionary
reasoning in an upside down manner.

All the govt should do is to continually
build lowcost housing in an "owner occupier"
policy & shylock landlords will come to order.

Housing for low income & middle income
families are alway major policies of
responsible govts worldwide, but not Nigeria.

Why can State & federal govt, not build 2000 &
20000 units yearly & sell to the public to pay
in 10 years?

The cost will be much lower than what
ministers, govs, senators etc embezzle every year.

This is not rocket science.
undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided
They don't have to build. They have to make mortgage loan easily available, to be paid over 10 to 30 years at single digit interest.

Which society? I lived and worked in south Africa and Holland, rents is in advance everywhere in sane countries. Buhari and his lame administration should release money to the society. Pay civil servants and contractors what is due for them and on time . With this every sane person can pay bills.
What if the tenant runaway after living in arrears?
Useless statement from useless government.
APC need your vote. They have started saying what is not obtainable.
Pay workers their entitlements and better their lives instead of pushing them to debts.
In South Africa and Holland, how far in advance? Is it more than 1 month?
I don't know of any sane country where rent is paid 1 to 2 years in advance.
