I'm a writer too, and what you said is true. Maybe we shouldn't have given him too much accolades. When I get too much praise on some of my stories, I sometimes freeze...cos I don't know if the next chapter would excite people like the previous ones. The mods should have waited till he completed the story before pushing it to front page.

If he had already written it down, he won't have delayed like that. He delayed most likely because the pressure was too much to continue writing after the thread was moved to front page and he got exposure like he had never experienced before. You saw that when he finally dropped one more chapter after the delay, it wasn't as captivating as the first 3. That's because he wasn't himself when he was writing that one...unlike the others he wrote under no pressure.

He got a lot of negative comments from readers after the last chapter...so, he feels there is no need completing it now, as the subsequent chapters he posts might even get comments worse than the one he got from the last chapter. So, he abandoned the story and decided to start posting a new story he already had a few chapters of, with the hope that people would like that one like they liked the first few chapters of this one.

OP abeg just write something now biko. Imagine I still dey follow this thread since last week.

You can even write "...To be continued" or "...Watch out for part two" all of them join.

I really enjoyed everything you dropped and your use of hyperboles is similar to Amos Tutuola's in The Palm Wine Drunkard.

Being a creative writer has advantages and disadvantages. Advantages, you get to create a world in your head, write it out, and get accolades from people...for what you created in your head.

Disadvantages...there is a quote by Ernest Hemingway, "there is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typwriter and bleed." You won't understand this quote unless you're a creative writer that has written many books. Creating is a lot of pain. This is why some of the best creative writers have been people that have gone through a lot of pain (myself included).

Most of the greatest writers wrote their best books from a place of pain...from JK Rowling, to Mark Twain to Sylvia Plath. This is not my main account, my main account is my author account, and I have some of the best writers on Nairaland as friends, and most of them confess to this too. So...think of it before you go into creative writing.
