Sufferingboy: True, but most of them have this igboid affiliation mentality. I have lived in a street close to gbenoba (first bank area) in Agbor. most of the Ika people are influenced by the igbo traders who dominate there. across the Asaba road is Boji Boji Owa. presently, they are building a market in culvert road axis. Mandarin is the best eatery there, I heard it is owned by Okowa's wife. Ika women and motorcycle is like 5 and 6. it is a thing of pride if your boyfriend buys a motorcycle for you(the girlfriend). Efewestern: How is Ukwuani distinct from Igbo in everyway? Are you okay at all? You are here trying to claim that an obviously Igboid community like Umukwata even with the quintessential Igbo prefix of naming places "Umu" in-situ is descended from Urhobos. But Igbos are supposed to be the ones forcing identity on others, eh kwa? Orogun is maternally Ukwuani. This is common knowledge. The founders of Orogun were Urhobo men who married Ukwuani women. That's how Ukwuani creeped into Orogun. I would wager that the Ukwuani women also invited some of their Ukwuani brothers to live with them and interbreed with Urhobos in Orogun and that have given rise to the bilingual nature of the town. Similar thing happened to the Ijaw founders of Ofoni who married so much Urhobo women who invited their Urhobo brothers to come live with them for security, so much that the population of the Urhobo brothers overwhelmed those of the original Ijaw founders, and Ofoni ( an Urhobo speaking community in Bayelsa) is today Urhobo speaking, even though they maintain they are Ijaws, because the founder of the town was an Ijaw man from Tarakiri clan of Ijaw who married an Urhobo woman. 3 Likes |

Efewestern: Stop creating non existent history. Efe is not a native Ukwuani name. It is an Edoid name. Efi means cow and has no relationship whatsoever with Efe which means wealth in Urhobo. The only relationship between Urhobos and Ukwuani are those expected of people who share boundaries. They intermarried and co inhabited together. You would have to be unstable to be suggesting a shared origin between Urhobo and Ukwuani. I mean,an Urhobo man can never understand an Ukwuani man language even though they are neighbors without learning it from scratch. A man from Imo state would only need a few hours of adaptation to intonation to understand Ukwuani man. 4 Likes |

Sufferingboy: No Igboman is interested in claiming Ukwuani. Many of us don't count Ukwuani in Igboland, we understand the Igbophobic sentiments prevalent there that has been encouraged and entrenched by Urhobos and other Nigerians. Ndokwa East seem to be less Igbophobic as I have met more Igbo nationalists from there than any other part of Ndokwa/Ukwuani. Every historical book out there listed Aboh kingdom as an Ebo kingdom. Obi Ossai of Aboh told the British that he and his people were Igbos. Infact in Sierre Leone, the Igbo slaves there considered Aboh as the capital of Igboland. We understand that things change and a people have the right to recalibrate their affinity. But you don't have the right to change shared history just to do that. That Ukwuani and Ndokwa ( I use both separately because I understand there is a sharp difference between both and that both are also in a form of identity crisis with Ndokwa East insisting they are distinct from Ukwuanis) were fully identified as Igbo in the past is true. That Eze Obi Ossai the most powerful king in the region affirmed to the British that Aboh kingdom were of same stock as the rest of Igbo clans East of the Niger when the British visited him is also a fact. That Ukwuani/Ndokwa people today for reasons best Known to them are no longer comfortable with the Igbo tag is also true. That they have the rights to be whoever they want to be, and should be respected for that, is also true. But that they have the right to twist shared history between them and Igbos east of Nigeria and with even the proud Igbos in Enu-ani, is also false. It is in arguing the above that the inferiority complex Igbophobic Ukwuani person get the feeling that Igbos are forcing him/her to be Igbo, when all Igbos are doing is setting the records right. 7 Likes |

Sufferingboy: Yet it is Ukwuani land that is the headquarters of weed growing business and not Igboland. I reckon that if Cocaine plant can grow there, they would plant it as well. But we are supposed to believe they are not greedy? Ika is vastly very underdeveloped. Your Bojiboji town is not even at Okigwe standard. Your politicians have greedily impoverished your masses so much that when you see average Igbo trader living large in your towns, your heart becomes filled with bitterness and you go about saying that the Igbo is greedy to cover and make your self feel comfortable in your laziness. 6 Likes |
