I also told a pastor in my area who came to preach to me to show me the verse in the bible where it was written that smoking is a sin, and that's about one year ago and till date he is still searching for the verse, I've been smoking cigarrete for 20 years now and i cant do without smoking because it eases stress for me and makes me to feel more relaxed but i dont know about others, NOTHING IS MORE FUN THAN WAKING UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT YOU TAKE A CHAIR AND SIT BY YOUR BALCONY JUST WATCHING THE MOON AND MEDITATING WITH A STICK OF CIGARRETTE IN YOUR MOUTH. I think what you should be concerned more about is your health. because even if it's a sin, that's not the only sin you commit as there are several other unknown sins that only take a toll on your spiritual life but smoking will not only kill you spiritually but increase your chances of dying faster physically by 80%

smoking is not mentioned in the bible like alcohol (strong wine), so also soft drinks were not mentioned too. so i dont think its a matter of it being a sinful thing or not. but,,,
is smoking dangerous to your health?
is drinking soft drinks dangerous to your health?
is taking heavy pain relievers (tramadol and co) dangerous to your health?

these 3 are not mentioned SPECIFICALLY in the bible (as far as i know) so don't look at it as sin or blessing ..

when you smoke, certain organs and tissues in your body suffer, your blood is deprived of adequate oxygen for optimal performance. That's an error and in the long run you get addicted which is a bigger error. Anything you become a slave to apart from God has become your god which negates God's law. What's bad for your health can't glorify the person who took time to artfully craft your body and place it in your mother's womb. I have some scriptures to back up as images. There are no such things as "unknown sins". Even the old Covenant, as heavy as its yoke and burden was had 613 commandments and statutes which clearly defined sin for the people of Israel.

Jesus Christ, God's New Covenant Agreement has less than 100 such commandments and statues that also clearly define for us what sin is in the Kingdom of God.

That someone live long doesn't mean they live an healthy life.
Statistically, heavy smokers die about 10 years early. So a smoker who, if not smoking would have lived to 92, dies at 82, after living a long sickly life.

Just like how the sugar is not the problem but the way you consume it. We eat a lot of refined sugar and it is becoming obvious that it is addictive. If you are going to say tobacco is a sin because of addiction and harm then you'll have to consider that refined sugars are also addictive and can cause harm, will you now consider consuming refined sugar a sin?

Sugar is needed in the body. That's the end product of carbohydrates and it helps to yield energy for every life process in the body. Even people with diabetes still needs sugar to power their life process. The only difference is they lack the hormone, insulin which helps in the assimilation of these sugar into the body. Hence it's either they take in insulin or find alternative food.

Same can't be said for smoking which ain't even needed at all cos it offset the alignment in our body. It's not good for the linings in our lungs, throats and our stomachs. It wears it away. It's carcinogenic too.

The bible does not specifically condemns smoking or tobacco intake but it contains principles showing that God does not approve of unhealthy and unclean habits.

Smoking entails substance intake but in a more dangerous form due to its side effect on the lung. Nicotine can be taken as liquid if I am not mistaken.
