This is very important.
My father is in his 70s now and still going strong because my mother no dey disturb am with unnecessary wahala. He tells me all the time, if he is come to this world again 1 billion times, na my mama him go still marry.

During his youthful days, he adopted a healthy lifestyle. Him dey work o but when him wan relax, him dey relax reach ground with my mama.

I remember going to get something from a close-by shop. It was so sunny that I had to face down while walking, a lady saw me and asked why was I walking that way and I told her the reason. Her reply was "I'm a man, it doesn't matter if I'm dark and ugly (she made a funny face how one can be) that I will still get a beautiful woman, she went further to say that the most important thing is my pocket". And my reply, "oh as a man I do not deserve enjoyment, I should just keep putting myself in harm's way just to make money for a woman".

I see some men wear rags, while their wives are shining. You hear them say " I want to look good for you", so is it a crime for me to look good as well? I refuse to be in that category.

Despite the stress men go through and the sacrifices they make on daily basis to make ends meet and to provide for the family, it will shock u to know that ur children will always choose their mother over u. You're right about stress and hell on earth women give men these days but about the Facebook it depend on which parent take care of child very well in my case i will give my mom 470K and dad 30K because my mom took 90% of growing expenses while she force my dad to give her money for me.

This story is similar to that of my friend. We were travelling down east and the wife (he left that morning) keep calling him throughout the journey demanding for money.
We got to enugu and he sent his wife 10k through a POS operator. 30 mins later, he was confused. The wife had not called to acknowledge the money. He called the wife and asked if she had gotten the money he sent, she grumbled and said yes. And asked "who is ngozi?" My friend was mad. Felt like smashing his phone. Women shaa.

The problem is the lack of open, direct, and honest communication

The man in number 1, has he communicated his troubles to his wife?

This lack of effective communication starts with society telling men not to be emotionally vulnerable because it would make them look weak. And then women assuming that men who can be emotionally vulnerable are weak

The change needs to start with society. Men are also humans with emotional struggles

The happiest marriages are the ones where both husband and wife can be vulnerable without each other using that vulnerability against them. Where there's mutual love and respect and open communication

This is the effect of generations of family life. When we start solving this problem from the cause, there will never be answers.

We encourage our girls to focus on being wife materials and mothers. We teach them how to cook and take care of the home while the brothers are outside playing ball, making connections and going places. He is taught that a man's place is outside the home. To bring home the bacon. To take care of his family and be the bread winner. Till we start to teach our kids differently, we will still get this same results till eternity.


We teach our boys to not cry, don't show emotion and he bottles it up till he has a heart attack while a woman will cry from morning till night, shout out all her frustrations and be relieved from that burden.

We tell our men to take care of this girlfriend so another man doesn't snatch her. So he does two jobs and a side hustle just to 'maintain' her.

Why can't we teach our kids that both parties should be equal contributors to the family purse? Why can't the first person home make dinner? Why can't the man take the kids to the hospital while the woman goes to sell her tomatoes? Why do we have men coming on nairaland to tell us 'I take care of all the responsibilities in the home and all she does is to fill gas and she is complaining when I boil ordinary water to bath'?

Till we begin to train ourselves as one and the same unit, men will keep dieing young and women will keep enjoying the fruits of both their labours.
