Thread bookmarked. Nice one lasthero , as i type, we never see light for 4 days now, my gen has been on since 9 am till now. I only turned off to refuel around 1 pm, I use on average 10 liters of fuel daily if no light and sincerely, it is really not good, plus I feel bad about my gen disturbing the whole house even tho everyone has their own flats, but still, even me, I enjoy the peace when I turn off my gen. This will definitely be what my first agenda mmediately after the holidays.

Bro enjoy
But have it in the back of your mind that it won’t last

Soon that ba3 would start giving you issues from 8 hours a day to 5 hours then to 3 hours before final parking off

Wetyn man nva experience bfor

I have that solar sheet in my hus but not functioning anymore we haven’t had light for close to three months now Nd I burn 8k on fuel weekly sometimes if Neigbours they charge phone for my room e Dey pain one ask for cold water i nearer tell am how much be fuel not like I am wicked but bros if I calculate fuel money for u e go read open something

Sorry about the bad experience. Alternative power is still the way to go. Study more this time before investing on it. It is essential your installer do and audit of the load in your house before recommending the size to install. I will recommend you buy only lithium battery this time. They last longer and can be used to almost zero without any side effect y

Interesting read

With a little research you can also construct an automatic transfer switch to select your power source.

Preference will be in the following order respectively NEPA, solar power and battery power.

In that way your power supply will be uninterrupted.

Sabi person!

I sell Laptop powerbanks and portable inverter. Recommend to friends on a budget

I looked around online on jumia, jiji and konga for ranges of 500watt inverters and chargers. After a rigorous check and comparison, I settled for this (picture attached) for 35k.

It is a 2 -in-1 package.( Solar charger / controller + 800va - 500w inverter). So no need for a separate solar controller

Does this inverter make noise while working?

Nice one, I commend your effort being your first DIY installation, You saved some cost but it will only be for a short while. As time goes on when you broaden your knowledge on Solar inverter electricity, you will be able to correct certain things..... I will highlight a little for you to research on
Firstly, your Solar inverter is mostly likely not a pure sine inverter and that's why it is cheap, it might even be a square wave form inverter which could damage your electronics in the long run.
A single Mono panel (180watts) won't be able to able to charge your GBM 180Ah battery sufficiently on a daily basis, this will affect the life of your battery
You could have waited a little while to buy a quality battery that hasn't stayed more than 6months, RITAR, GENUS, ADDO, QUANTA. but also know that battery purchase is also luck, it's 50/50 no matter the place or warranty given
For your GBM battery to last longer, you need to charge with a smart charger
Lastly, during raining season, you won't have enough sun, you still need a back up generator
I wish you all the best

I have two unit 200Ah batteries being charged by 6 Solar panels (5 unit 220Watts and 1 unit 200Watts).

Intend changing the 80Amp PWM controllers to Sunpulse 60Amps MPPT controller and adding 2 200ah additional batteries.

Will the solar panels installed be adequate?

Installation is a 24V system and inverter 2kVA mopower inverter.

Your initial setup (2 batteries and 1300w pv) should be just fine if used appropriately.

Changing the PWM to MPPT on the set up is also a good boost.

BUT: do not add new batteries to the one you have been using, DO NOT TRY IT!

If you are getting 4 new batteries, the your 1300w and 80 Amp controller should do.

For inverter setups, the absolute best batteries would be Lithium batteries that you can discharge to a depth of 90%. But they are damned expensive. And scarce die to tech shortage from Covid.

Sir i sell and use lithium Batteries....check my previous post

boss I am a solar guy who loves DIY and done a lot of stuff like this.
You could even go cheaper if I saw this post before. But please don’t drain deep cycle to 0%. I would advice keep it within 50% depth of discharge(DOD).
Anyways me I don leave una for deep cycle batteries wahala lolz.

Bro, in case you have customers for me. I assemble and sell LiFePo4 batteries
