OP, trust me, you will be tired of Corolla within a year. Very bland car, plus the risk of getting robbed.

3.5 million or less is enough to get a sweet Honda Accord 2008-2010. It commands more prestige on the road than any bland and empty Corolla. Keke and motor-bikes will be afraid of coming close to your bumper because of how dashing Evil Spirit looks, unlike Corolla.

The evil spirit is fuel efficient and easy to maintain as well.
I don't think I can ever buy Toyota cars again after using Honda Accord 08. Honda seems to be the best both in terms of fuel consumption, performance, interior and lastly beauty.

I have finally arrived PH with the car I went to Lagos to buy.

Though I'm just recovering from body pains.

This is my first time driving a car that long.
Now thats one wonderful corolla, No single check engine light. Just be servicing the vehicle every 3000km, change the oil, oil filter, air filter during servicing. You can change plugs and ac filter one a year. Some people might have better ideas though

Lagos is not as people say it is. In fact, the GRA in Port Harcourt is more neater and nicer than Lekki.

Lekki was nothing to write home about during my stay there.
When next u go to Lagos go to Ikeja or the island area u will feel secured and get good food prepared and served under good hygiene.
Lagos is over rated

Can I get the dealers phone number and address please
AbelAbdul:
FINALLY SAW A CAR I WANTED TO BUY
Where I went to buy the car was a warehouse that contains a lot of cars. What port harcourt doesn't have.

I checked the car, it was ok to my taste. Told the dealer I was going with the vehicle that same day.

I made transfer while waiting for the dealer to get alert I have already started the registration of the car.

I was advised to register it so police would not disturb me on the road.

After registration of the vehicle it took more than 24hrs for the dealer to receive alert. In fact the dealer and I went to his bank and my bank to complain.

Finally the alert entered the following day at about 2pm. That was when the dealer issued me receipt for the car.

The car dealer and his brother were very cool and understandable

POLICE AND CUSTOMS PALAVA
I was told at that warehouse that whether I register the car or not that police will disturb me. I should hold money to settle them.

I had withdrew 50k in 200, 500 and 1000 naira notes for settlement.

My papers were complete but these officers wouldn't let me go unless I settle them.

I was just giving them money on the way.

Some I gave 5k some 2k some 1k some 500 some 200.

I spent a lot settling police at a point I made up my mind that I was not going to giveLagos them again.

When I don't give they delay me and it was getting dark and I can't see at night so I didn't have a choice than to be giving them money.

Due to police delay I missed that bus I was following. Well, those polic guys also help show me the road.

I find this thread very interesting and revealing too. Kudos, op.

When I entered Bayelsa it was getting dark I couldn't see clearly so I was moving slowly.

Couldn't see potholes. Ran into a big pothole my fog light pulled off.

Second accident was when a trailer put eyes in my eyes a d I was about dodging it I saw myself in a bush. That is to God the car has brake.

I have uploaded pics. The Eagle worth The stress.
What is the mileage on the car?
Don't let mechanics and electricians handle it anyhow.
Use the engine oil with specification written on the cover of your engine, whenever you service it. Also use the gear oil with spec written on the dipstick of the gear.

Don't let mechanics/panelbeaters remove the catalytic converter in your exhaust pipe, or bypass/ remove the thermostat.

Use a good radiator coolant in your radiator and never ever forget to replace the cap whenever you refill it.

Always keep your eye on the dashboard for any abnormal signals on it about overheating, check engine, brake oil/engine oil shortage etc.

Don't be tempted to drive beyond 120kph, just because it's a tokunbo and still in almost pristine state should not tempt you to over speed.

Enjoy your car and maintain it according to the service manual.

The people hyping Lagos are Lagos residents who have never lived elsewhere. Or, those who came from ratholes. We left Lagos since the early 90ies and none of us dream of returning to stay. Sadly, we are Lagosians. You visit, attend functions, and go enjoy your life elsewhere.

Whoever lived in Lagos in the 80ies and 90ies will never accept to live there today, given some options.

To enjoy Lagos, you must have a large income gate and a foot outside Nigeria.

Hi Abdul. Lovely story. I really enjoyed reading your Lagos escapade.

I never knew this car Corolla cost so much?

The truth about Lagos is exemplified in this statement: who sabi, sabi!

If you don’t know an insider in any particular sector, it is always very difficult and “ them go chop you before them show you road.”

Hint: there is a particular places in Ojo called saint peter road, where they offload containers of cars and supermarket goods from London -Peugeot, Corolla ( right hand), and Lexus cars (normal hand) from Korea. The “right hand” cars are convertEd to left-hand drive at mechanics behind “Red Cross,” back of the Alaba market. Then sold to the dealers at Apapa and other car spots around Lagos.

This is doubtful... You've not driven more than 20 times and you were moving at 170kph on a road you are not familiar with ??

@Op, If i were you, I would have gone back to portharcourt to purchase the car, to avoid all the stress of settlements and the risk of driving.

Glad you finally achieved your dream... Better dreams ahead to be fulfilled !
Congrats bro.

CAR PERFORMANCE
I will not regret going to Lagos to get the car. That car's performance is 100%

If car's were birds, that car would be an eagle. The car was flying. I was moving at 170kph.

I was told that before I reached PH I will visit filling station thrice to refuel it.

And I believed because when I was going to Lagos our driver visited the filing station thrice.

The fuel consumption of this car is amazing. I filled up the tank in Lekki 55ltrs filled in.

I on A/C from Lagos to PH.
I arrived PH with enough fuel still in the tank.

I WENT FOR BUY AND DRIVE ENDED UP GETTING BUY, REPAIR AND DRIVE

After purchasing the car I did some electrical work on it.

I wouldn't wait any I told the car I want to go.

I was told to pay land fee before the can allowed the car to leave the warehouse.

After a lot of argument I finally paid 15k land fee and I saw other buys paying it.

Since I did not know road back to Lagos I told one of thethe perchers to get me a driver that will drive the car to PH.

I was told to pay 100k. I pleaded with 70k and none could agree.

I told myself I will try to drive it home.

So I entered the car that was about 5pm.

As I just passed the gate of the warehouse I saw girls selling fuel. I stoped to buy because the dashboard showed red light.

After buying the fuel the car could not start. Called the dealer he came out.

First we thought it was battery. When we brought an electrician he discovered that the kickstarter was bad.

He took more than hour to get a new one and fixed it.

He finally fixed it and I drove off.

Dem just scam you angry

LIFESTYLE OF LAGOSIANS
These people are living a very crazy lifestyle. Half of the people there are beggars.

Guys in Lekki neatly dressed stand by the roads to beg.

Also people there are very smart
t in their doings.

I saw a female police who can't be below 50yrs jumping on buses to collect money from driver's.

In PH you hardly see a female police officer running after commercial vehicles to collect money.

Most female police officers in PH who stand on the road are traffic wardens.

Where are those who said I will be scammed?

Though I have spent close to N4.1m in this journey.

OMG, 4.1m in total for this corolla 2006/2007?

Guy, you have been cheated, next time if you want to purchase something in Lagos, have someone who will be your guide and knows Lagos very well so you won't be going around telling people you're not that familiar with Lagos and you came to buy something, once they know you aren't familiar with Lagos, how to dupe you is what they will be thinking of and that car you spent 4.1m on in total is way too outrageous, I use same car as well and you could have spent at most 3.5m including registration and transportation expenses. Anyway, that's gone and the car is clean, I drive bolt for a living in Lagos, if I had come across your former thread earlier, I could have assisted you in getting the car at cheaper price sef, trust me for that.

Maintenance tips, 1 major thing that kills people engine and gear is negligence, if you can give that car regular oil when it's due, the car will serve you 5years without touching engine or gear, this is my Maintenance tip for my car, since I drive Bolt, I usually drive 1000km within a week and sometimes more than that within a week due to how body carry me to drive around the car to make more money, but whenever I service my engine, I will reset either Trip A or B on my dashboard to keep tab on the KMs I have run before next service and since I use semi synthetic oil, I don't drive it above 4000km before my next oil change and also to avoid the oil getting too dark and thick which will be causing sludge inside the car engine and sludge makes car to shorten oil. Just reset either your Trip A or B and if you're using Mobil 1000 XHP or the 2000 XHP to service the car, don't run the car more than 4000km before changing the oil, mechanic will tell you to run 5000km but do not listen to them and do not wait for the car to show Maintenance required before going for the oil change, have it in your mind never to run more than 4000km before changing the oil and if you're using Mobil 1 which is the full synthetic oil, you can run 5000km.

That car sweet die and the only problem you will be having is wheel issues which are minor issues.

Enjoy and drive safely.

Congratulations on your new ride….

This car has the highest stolen rate due to reasons you bought it and also Uber

Please install a car tracker .

You might need some “ carpet “ on top of the dashboard for Sun (I stayed in northern part shaa)

Also pls don’t be tempted to overspeed.

Have in mind that you are driving the best car, use the appropriate oils for servicing and also avoid quack mechanics.

Use recommended oil 5W30 or 5W20

Never use Nigerians thick oil. Synthetic oil is expensive but it's worth it
