The privilege of been rich I.e buy whatever you want since Nigerians and blacks are more of acquiring, longing to buy than creating then afterwards brag about what they buy and own. Then the usual gizmo, Abuse Power |

Gerrard59:Good question. Even as a relatively comfortable or rich person, quality of life in Nigeria is still pretty low. Security remains an issue and being very comfortable could make you a target, traffic is still a frustration especially if you are in Lagos, electricity is still not 24\7 without generator or inverter, everywhere still looks like slum, filth everywhere etc. |

Gerrard59:. The insecurity is in every country. And Nigeria is relatively safer than most countries in Africa and even in the western world. It’s all about staying safe at where you are. |
| Re: What Exactly Does One Enjoy In Nigeria As A Rich Person? by vislabraye(m): 11:18am On Dec 26, 2022 |
Gerrard59:With enough money, you can be secure. But, come to think of it, is Nigeria more unsafe than US or UK? There's mass shooting in US (at least once a year), gang crime, police shootings etc. UK also has it's own case of violence. Not saying Naija is safer, though. But if you can afford to live in a rich neighborhood, you will only hear of it but won't even see it. Btw, UK and US are overrated. There are other cool European nations. |

Franklydes:Basic things everyone can easily access in developed countries are the thing the rich are enjoying in Nigeria and feeling special, mere things like house in flooded area, nice car in heavy traffic running A/C , buy very expensive expired food items , spending huge on diesel and generator , moving around with police to avoid been kidnapped, something that should be basic, how is that luxury? Pure Foolishness is it |

In a nutshell what he is saying is that with money he can oppress. Gerrard59: |
| Re: What Exactly Does One Enjoy In Nigeria As A Rich Person? by Realguyman1(m): 11:22am On Dec 26, 2022 |
Gerrard59:The rich oppressing the poor is what he is talking about as enjoyment. He simply meant that once u have money in Nigeria, u can break the law and commit all manners of atrocities u want and goes scot free with it. |
| Re: What Exactly Does One Enjoy In Nigeria As A Rich Person? by Jakumo(m): 11:23am On Dec 26, 2022*. Modified: 5:08pm On Dec 27, 2022 |
Gerrard59:This is one of the most well-constructed arguments I have encountered that checkmates those who "patriotically" continue to extol the virtues of Nigeria despite the reality of a kidnapping epidemic ravaging the entire country, and the total breakdown of law and order in several parts of the nation now at the mercy of renegade gunmen. Enjoying life is not a single variable equation dependent on money alone. That quality of life index is an aggregate of several considerations that include spending power, while also taking into account the general level of security or lack thereof along with other very important factors such as the availability of electricity and the condition of road surfaces. Being patriotic is a good thing, but dubious at best would be the rationale for spending one's finite years living in a dangerous place if one has the option to enjoy life in the safety of a country where a family road trip does not carry the risk of getting waylaid and kidnapped en route, or where calling the police will result in them showing up, or where the simple convenience of using electrical outlets at home is available without the need to embark on the major expenditure of installing generators or solar panel infrastructure so as to become one's one private utility company. Those simple pleasures of a safe and stable country are currently mere pipe dreams for the inhabitants of Nigeria, including the rich who choose to remain in Nigeria with their heavy security contingent, due to patriotic zeal or perhaps on a more practical level, due to proximity with money making ventures that require close personal supervision to prevent fraud. |

Maybe huge tax cuts like UAE compared to the West They can treat workers the way they wish to thus paying slave wages. Labour rights seem non existent here if you ask me. Labour is cheaper here. Cobblers etc aren’t paid well for their hard jobs They can easily afford a ton of housekeeping & other domestic staffs Food & organic fruits cheaper here (although there’s food stamps over there). You can easily choose to grow some of your food here You have money to give you know who on the road so you don’t get delayed in traffic @gerrard59 The disadvantages outweigh the advantages But we are only talking of the positives today If a country can’t get security right, then forget about anything else. We are in trouble. Going out and coming back home safe everyday is by Gods grace Quality doctors and nurses are leaving everyday |
