As soon as I got to my office I gave the books to my assistant and told her to arrange all our receipts and keep it on my table. This lady went home with all the books and didnt drop them as instructed.

I resumed work on Monday and she brought the book with incomplete receipts. This lady didnt remit a dime from the month of August to December. She was issuing a forged receipt and putting same in the books for me for monthly checks.

I generated about #5,362,000 and this lady only remitted 1,123,000 and the rest were paid through bank transfers which I am not sure if they were really paid.

Till this moment I can't believe that this lady could pull such heartless and wicked heist.

She has been begging me to help her die the case as it was because of family issue that made her do such.

I have made up my mind that I won't work with her again and its left for the Hospital management to find how to get their money from her.

You are not far from kirikiri prison when the problem starts, just a matter of time, the organisation will find out.

When the time comes, the law court will put it to you that you were aware of her crime, but you chose to aid and abet to her crime.

She giving excuse of family problem is non of your concern, your job is at stake here.

Make sure it becomes a police case.

You are very very lucky that you have a good relationship and reputation with your ogas or you would be arrested for fraud.

It also frankly shows very very bad judgement on your part that 4m disappeared and you did not see it. It was the intervention of your ogas that exposed the fraud. You have a lot of work rebuilding your reputation

You are going to have to impose the maximum possible penalty on your assistant to show you had no involvement and also as a return to sender for her violation of your trust and her willingness to destroy the company providing her with employment

If that hospital was yours, I'm sure you'd be collecting the receipt monthly rather than not even been bothered to ask for it for several months.

Isn't it under your jurisdiction to request for receipts/audit monthly so as to check if everything is right? You have some queries to answer too, I hope you learn a lesson from this because it might make you loss your job if it happens another again.

However, for the lady, her excuse was just to gather sympathy, she needs to leave or the retain her and take some % out of her monthly salary until it's complete, under an agreement that if she run or resign the case will be reported at the police station for fraud, unless she has the total remaining balance to refund at the time she wants to resign

Sorry about the situation sir.

However, you still need to cooperate with the hospital management to bring her to justice. You are her direct boss, so to say, and the buck for the department and everything that goes on there stops at your table.

She has to refund part, if not the entire amount plus possible criminal prosecution.

Family issue made her do it, according to what she told you. Let her family also be involved in the matter to bail her out.

You better put controls in different levels to avoid similar occurrence in the future. She just exposed how porous your system is.. Eg, do your transactions such that each cash receiver updates something online to show what he/she received so every party can compare notes and acknowledge. Then let an auditor do a monthly audits of all accounts.

That said, better send your proof of fraud to the appropriate unit and dissociate yourself from her. She has no fear of God or humanity. People like her could eventually harm you. Act fast and close the door in her face. Period!

The OP is at fault here..You failed to supervise your subordinate...You are meant to be queried for dereliction of duty.The lady already know your weak point.I suspect the relationship has gone beyond office relationship.I.will advise you query her first..Let her respond to it.Thats what you will use against her if the law enforcement agency gets involved now or in the future.Tell her to resign properly and handover the company property with her,Let everything be documented.

When I was still in the work force I got fired because I wouldn't engage in the massive fraud our department where in agreement in unison to run,that shit made me take a huge gamble never to work under any corporation. And today I'm rich and doing wayyy wayyyyyyy better than ALL of them.

We keep blaming the government while we are more evil to ourselves. Nigerians are always wicked towards one another. This country can only move forward when we start being human towards one another.... She should be handed over to the police, no matter what the family issue might be, she should rather seek for loan from the management rather than stealing the hospital's money....
