What about if the ladies turns down any approach by men, since men are now to be blamed. Must ladies accept men's request? Even married ladies denying the fact they are married all in d quest to sleep around. The truth be say...a lose girl is a lose girl, a LovePeddler is a LovePeddler...if the government should place fine on me, even d government officials go still dey patronise them and no solution to the problem. Only solution: ladies should turn down approach from men...period |

cocolacec:You can't solve a problem like this with suppression. In America during Prohibition - alcohol production was suppressed. The result? Illegal distillers. Human nature cannot be suppressed but it can be modified over time. |

Sweetvie:For u to arrest someone for patronizing a prostitute.....you'll have to prove that the person is a prostitute and it's a hook up arrangement.........that's quite tricky....cos hook up girls will simply dress more modestly whilst plying their trade |

The honest truth...you cant eliminate these things. In the USA, they started to crackdown on websites and it became escort services, and specials if you go to strip clubs. Even massage parlors, they will call them full option, so people will just change the work. The rate has increased, and I will draw my own conclusion...because deportation from Europe skyrocketed. Most of these girls in Europe that engage in prostitutions are really high class prostitutes in Nigeria or so I heard, and they have been able to recruit more and more...while it is shame to let people know you re doing this in Europe, they have been able to make it mainstream in Nigeria...because Nigerians love lavish lifestyles and it does not matter if they are sleeping with wealthy men or foreigners. Someone I know told me he lodged at a high end hotel in Lagos...guess the type where you pay N50k-N100k per night. He said he was ashamed to see all our women with foreigners. Do you blame them...$100/night ...N75,000....in 20 days a month...N1.5m. So sad but the train has sailed. MAYBE JUST MAYBE IF WE START EARLY, WE CAN TRAIN THE NEXT GENERATION...BY SHOWING THEM INFECTIOUS DISEASES, OTHER MEANS TO ACQUIRE SUCCESS AND LONG TERM MENTAL EFFECTS. Gerrard59: |

@Gerrard59, my guy you sure you get work so? I think the best way to reduce hookups in Nigeria is the same solution that would cure your idleness and prevent write ups like these and that is being gainfully employed. There are laws against stealing, murder, kidnapping, etc have that reduced those crimes? In the face of unprecedented unemployment, no regulation or fine will reduce prostitution, Johns and Janes would find a cleaver way around the restrictions. |
| Re: How To Reduce Hook-ups In Nigeria by jimcaddy(m): 1:39am On May 19, 2023 |
Wow. This is a very brilliant piece. Said the whole truth. Nigerian men are the problem. Try and patronise a prostitute in well developed countries and see how much they charge. It's just the poverty and greed mindset of Nigerians that won't make hookup go away. Even girls who have rich parents and well taken care of still engage in hookup. I read a story about a girl who was married to a Dubai based NIgerian man. That man provides for this babe financially. There is nothing he didn't do, but this babe still engages in hookup due to greed and the quest to live fake lives. In countries like Mexico and those poor south American countries, prostitution thrives because of how poor their economy is. In Nigeria we have the tendency to be a great nation, but we used our own hands to spoil it by ourselves. |

linearity:If you had checked the first sentence, you would see that I referenced two threads started by male Nairalanders who are whining about hookup. Gerrard5.9:Read it; I can never complain about what I cannot control, whose effects are minimal to society and is a natural phenomenon. I am tired of the constant complaints by ignorant NL males, which is the reason I created this thread. Your complaints should be towards those men who keep complaining. I have never complained about hookups. Rather than complain, I will find a way to make money out of it. There are many ways to make money from the industry without being a patron. Also, if you read through, I stated clearly that hookup can never end, so we are saying the same thing. It is funny how come most of you know that hookup can never end, yet keep mute when other males keep lampooning women involved in it. Or is it painful that a man is pointing it out why e fit no end? I am sure many would have disagreed that hookup won't end if I was a female. |

Astra101:You did not reprimand the fellow who advocated for murdering Nigerian women because they engage in sex work, but you chastised me, who lampooned him. See, I am used to gaslighting by Nairalanders and have confronted them. No be today. Your gaslighting cannot work on me. Not today, not tomorrow or anytime soon. I said what I said. If you don't like it, hit your head against the wall! P.S. I am a man like you and have preek as you do. Who knows, maybe my preek is longer than yours. |

histemple:If you read that post you quoted to the end, you will see where I stated that some regions in Nigeria are morally stricter than others. The majority of people who live in Sabongari are not ethnic northerners, nor are they Muslims. You know this, so why try to argue? To be honest, Islam does a good job in social engineering than Christianity. However, Christianity offers more economic opportunities and prosperity. |

The only reason why a lot of girls are into prostitution and hook up in Nigeria is because of joblessness and poverty. Empower them and you will see how they will transform. |

You're not a straight forward person, very cunning. The entire post was about hookup and you turned it into a rape post. None of your posts ever make sense, you are either trying to gaslight people or saying something totally off the purpose of the thread. Get a life. Persephone1: |

Gerrard59:I don't really see the usefulness of this thread, are you complaining or stating a point that men are the problem? Prostitution will never stop, and the people or threads who are complaining on Nairaland are just jokers. I suspect you really hate the average Nigerian man because all your posts are such, when I read your posts It strikes me as a Slave Master to a Westerner or something similar, you would fit that role perfectly.
