Nigeria Labour Congress to commence strike action/ protest from Wednesday next week if NNPC refuse to revert to old price to allow negotiation with government before any other action.

The Nigeria Labour Congess (NLC) has declared a nationwide strike from next Wednesday.

This comes amid fuel shortages across the country occasioned by President Bola Tinubu’s inaugural speech in which he declared that “fuel subsidy is gone”.

NLC President Joe Ajaero made the announcement after an emergency meeting of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja.

He said the government, particularly the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited had up until Wednesday next week to revert to the old price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise referred to as petrol.

Ajaero added that failure of the Federal Government to meet the ultimatum would attract an indefinite protest across the country.

Very good, the same way this people didn't trust Jonathan Govt to remove subsidy and use the money for development. We don't trust them now to remove subsidy and not loot the money.

I hope these agbado eaters and that fellow who sang ' as e pain dem' last week will not be part of this strike because their cards allow them to buy fuel at a cheaper price......

If not for the wickedness in our leaders, how can you just take away subsidy without doing anything or putting things in place to alleviate the suffering? You just announced boom, as if you're running your home....

NLC should better forget about embarking on another fruitless strike.Subsidy removal is best for the economy at this material time.I use PMS for my daily bread everyday, but i had to adjust since on Monday.

This is the best thing to do. I am against the removal of subsidy. I wonder why the common Nigerians are in support of this. What will the money saved from the removal of fuel subsidy do for us? Will the politicians not loot it? Do you know the hardship it has brought upon us? I regret coming from this part of the world honestly . Life is hard

Yeye this govt won't reverse shi u either take it or leave subsidy is gone for good.

The earlier we know this the better. Also any strike now beyond 2 weeks should be accompanied with no work no pay it is as simple as that.

No one should blackmail the government into submission there is no money for subsidy case closed.

We want fuel subsidy out but the government must put modalities in place to check mate all other fraudulent activities and secondly they should provide incentives for the masses because we all know they can remove subsidy and still steal the money they save

In as much as i am an Obidient, i still commend Tinubu for removing subsidy.

But the timing is wrong, but we would all adapt to the change.

MRS Oil & Gas alone collects more than N200B every year from federal government, can you imagine the scam.

Excellent.. Why remove subsidy when no refinery is functioning? Why sell pms at an outrageous price when the stock in market are already subsidized till the end of June?

Evil that men do. Same APC and Co sabotaged Jonathan's effort on dis subsidy.
Jonathan, madam Ngozi Iweala, Sanusi etc all begged Nigerians to bear with them, that d storm would be over, Nigerians said NO, APC said NO. SO why changing ur tongue on d subsidy.
Subsidy is a very welcomed development, but right now, is not d best time. U didn't factor a lot of things.
No measure was put in place before removing subsidy. Imagine minimum wage of 30k and u do spend 300 TFair, when fuel was being sold at 184-199. Now that d fuel is selling at d rate of 500, how much will d person be spending only on TFair.
Secondly, President should address d nation not from any damn spokesperson.
Well, Nigerians deserves d kind of leaders they get
