On reading your whole comment, I'm sorry for highlighting the first part of your comment. I should have highlighted all of it.

Firstly, it's not only in Nigeria that business owners take advantage of job seekers. It's a worldwide trend. You need to read or travel.

Secondly, I have connections with thousands of Nigerian youths online and offline. All I can say is that we have hardworking and wonderful youths. Which aspect should we mention; software development, web3, writing, digital marketing, data science and machine learning etc. Nigerian youths are doing wonders. Perhaps you're only living with weed smokers and fraudsters. You should go to LinkedIn and review the profile of Nigerian youths.

Thirdly, except the role you're hiring for requires no specialty, it's normal that only a small percentage of applicants actually fit your required skillset. For example, you might be a software company that specializes in fintech. If you publish a job vacancy it's normal that software developers who specialise in stuffs like gaming, learning management systems etc also apply. It's left to you to filter out those who do not meet your requirement. Not because they're incompetent and useless but because they're not a good fit for your current role.

Finally, from Upwork to LinkedIn to Glassdoor and even Indeed, it's a well-known fact that many jobs there have been filled or are fake.

Before I go, I'm not a job applicant. But I've applied to many jobs so I know the hell people go through to land a job. Even people who are gurus and have years of experience.

Most will ask you to draft a full business plan specific to their business claiming it is part of their recruitment process...I waste(d) no time in telling them off. If I don't have an offer from you, I ain't working for you for free. Simple!

Once they start asking you deep questions requiring you to outline this and that process, then it is.....

Some of them I will manage and give them at the surface answer, but they will still come back and ask you to provide more details.

You have not employed someone, it's not certain that you would and you want him or her to prepare detailed documents that you will later use to solve you business problems without employing the candidate

You don't even understand what he is saying. I am employed and I have been there before where you share your business idea(trade secret) at interview point because you were desperate. After all promises, they let you down for reason(s) best known to them. I did it once and I told myself never to do it again.

Use to think hiring was an easy task until recently my line manager asked me to hire someone who will join my team. Oboy it's been more than a month and yet to find the right candidate. Prior to now, I thought having a good resume was overflogged but I know how many CV have sent to my recycle bin without bothering meeting the candidate just cos the CV was poorly drafted. Op I doubt if any reasonable company will go through the stress of recruitment just to steal ideas from candidates.

That is your personal option, and you don't need to mention and job platform as you do on your post. You can be prosecuted for that and you will pay big time. In my own opinion, the recruiting platform you mentioned, indeed and jobberman are the best platform we have in Nigeria.

What makes u think they ain't good enough?if they have good working environment u will know they are better off..I had a friend who in Nigeria went to apply for a job as a computer scientist right in the organization just because they would want to exploit him they were trying to downgrade him when he got to UK not less that 2weeks of seeing his skills they placed him above those he met there without prejudice that's because there is a good working environment for him,good motivation
