My problem is not even with the political class but their poverty stricken dogs that lick after them. There dogs are the real problems and they are plenty even here on Nairaland.

I think it's still penny wise pound foolish..

A big sachet of cowbell is 2,200 and it weights 1kg.. this bag is 25kg x 2200 = ₦55k. And he said he bought this for ₦90k

Kobojunkie:
Wrong! This milk is used in making even the baby food you feed your babies. So, if you can feed your babies the baby food made from this milk, how can you then turn around to claim it is not good for your children? No be brain damage be that? undecided

By the way, people typically don't give new borns "fresh cow milk" even though you give them formulae made from this milk here.

Let's stop spreading misinformation. You are free to have beef with OP, but unless you have proof, do not spread misinformation about the milk. undecided

I am sorry but what does all of this have to do with anything? If OP's family chooses to consume 1kg of powdered milk each day, wetin be your own concern? undecided

By the way, it says right on the bag that it is a 25kg bag, so you can do the math on your own in order to figure out how many of those small sachets you buy dey inside am. undecided

I couldn't make heads or tails of this response of yours, so I will ask again. You claim research is what led you to believe that powdered milk packaged in wholesale bags is unfit for consumption by kids, and over 13 pages now, not even you have been able to cite any document or research to back this up. Why?

This is the same milk kids in developed countries consume regularly. If you visit the food pantry, for instance, you are bound to be handed a bag of powdered milk on occasion. These foods are considered safe for even babies. So, are you saying that those of us who consume the same thing out here in the West, even purchase it from our local wholesale stores do so in ignorance? If yes, where is the evidence for this claim you continue to assert? undecided

From the responses here, I can see many of the people commenting have never left their town or state.
Milk, sugar, pasta, spag etc like that are sold in bulk especially in the North. Infact, as a student, you can buy in cups or mudu like uou buy garri and rice.
The same milk whether packaged beautifully or not.

Travel and learn.

I thought so too oh.If you got the money you shouldn't be complaining about the price but if you can't afford it there are other cheaper alternative like the refill package to buy. This post was actually unnecessary.
ErnestNc:

You appear to be unnecessarily arrogant. You must be so little minded to think that buying a 25kg size bag of milk is a huge achievement which puts you on a pedestal above everyone else here on this platform.

I wonder, to whose benefit and of what significance is this post, if not to inflate your already low self esteem and ego which you perceive to be attacked by a mere inquisition. There's really no point of posting such here on a public forum if you're so overly sensitive to scrutiny and void of emotional intelligence.

Dano milk in bag is the same Dano milk in refill. I have bought them all in bags and in refill including Lactorich.

Finally, keep ur opinion to yourself and stop criticising what u can't afford.

This is not very accurate.
In the 1970's a person's monthly salary could be around N700 (Seven hundred Naira).
And a brand new car was N3000
That person could save and buy that car. Because everything else was low price.
But was that car CHEAP?
We're not sure.
If everybody was earning N700 then, it would be cheap.
But only a few were earn N700 then.
-oga January this year I was buying same inhaler 2000 till around April, then it became 2500, I bought it around July 5500 and today I bought it 8500 so try to understand the difference between value and price
And so today. Brand new common car would be N20,000,000 (20 mill)
So what kind of (N700) salary can afford such car? Maybe, N1,000,000 monthly can buy that car.
How many people are actually earning that N1,000,000?
Only few.
Same situation as olden days.
-
The money number value has increased. But the item is neither expensive nor cheap.

oga January this year I was buying same inhaler 2000 till around April, then it became 2500, I bought it around July 5500 and today I bought it 8500 so try to understand the difference between value and price

Thank you for saying exactly what I had in mind. What rubbish!!! The way he broke shame that other guy is a sign that he’s feeling big of himself for buying an industrial milk for his home consumption. Milk that is meant for bakers to use in a single week you buy am go house Dey feed family for 5 months. Your wife go over try sha. When my mates are having fresh milk one husband carry industrial milk come house say make me and children drink for five months. I bind every poverty mindset away in my husband’s life. Amen!!! F**k it.

Imagine. I just dey laff.

I didn't just want to shame him for storing powdered milk for a whole 5 months . He thinks that's what financially bouyant people do, and so we must applaud him for being bouyant enough to afford such .

If you have money, Why buy and store industrial powdered milk and not Condensed milk for lenghty months?

OK. So, are you insinuating that all Nunu and unfried wara products are unfit for consumption? Let's be careful how we present what we say. What you are essentially doing here is creating the impression that these local foods are unsafe for consumption when it instead depends mostly on where they are made and those making them. undecided

We dey use am do community meeting.

When u are married u will see the need to stock the house if u have dough.
My father taught me the importance of buying in bulk. My father used to buy 5bags of rice, 100 tubers of yam. We buy milk in cartoon etc. But that will not make us use 1 packet in two days and we have a large family. Is not about stocking up, it's about using it wisely. As a bachelor I buy even onions and crayfish in stock, but I can't waste it not to talk about now Nigeria economy is to beautiful.

In 2015,this milk was sold for 28k or less than because then,we used to share it among our colleagues, and it's either I buy this one below,Lactorich or Dano.

Mathematically,it is cheaper for me and my house than buying refill at #2,200 which may only last me one day or at most two days.

So,yesterday the one I bought in early March this year got finished and I and my wife decided to buy another one that would at least last for another 5months or thereabout.

The price of this milk is now #89,500 Dano that is locally produced is #87,000.

I can see why the poor has been relegated in
Nigeria and their voices have been smashed and dimmed. Ask the man on the street about the economy,he would say,e go better as if has ever been better in this country.

If we don't put the right people in govt, the poor and the needy would continue to wallow in abject situations.

Naija my country.

The question is, who are the right people?
What chance do they stand?
