Ucap had a fantastic result. But refuse to add the comprenhensive income when calculating their EPS. This is to disguise the gains, while their insiders mop up the shares. I suspect a bonus issue soon. Ucap at 15naira is a steal. 20-25 naira is the target in 6months

I suspect a bonus issue soon aswell.

Also learn to analyze intrinsic value of stocks, so you know how to identify overvalue and and undervalued company. Seeking stockpicks from guru without due diligence = blaming the adviser if things go wrong. Na so 1 person dey fight everybody for the forum because some1 recommend a broker.

I’m very much interested in learning how to value stocks. Could you help with pointers in this regard. What books can i read?

I took mine to Coronation Securities for over eight years now, nothing has been done.

The fact is that their staff that collected the certificate from me is no longer with them. And I left their office without a copy of the certificate as there was no single paper to do a photo copy which I even offered to give them money for copier paper. To think that I traveled all the way from East to Lagos for that is another problem of its own.

Write the registrar and declare the certificate lost. They can check their system to confirm history of the stock. Hoping your signature is with them. You might need do some documentation. They will direct you.

It's not likely the staff went with the certificate. It might be lying somewhere in that office or at the registrar's or truly lost. The process could be unnecessarily clumsy.

If it's popular.......haa, we have plenty popular stocks but I suspect 3 or 4 sha, he needs to narrow it down for us.
- If he says Q3, then it's likely not VITAFOAM, cos Vitafoam's year end is Sept, so we are expecting Q4....
- Other suspects,L: UCAP, TRANSCORP or one other one....... smiley

* There's much volume in TRANSCORP today......Lots of activities and cross deals at 6.20 currently.......Went as low as 6.01 earlier....

For some time now, bids has always been more than offer yet price didn't move. I guess they kept the price down on purpose while they mop up at a low price .

OANDO - the toast of our time, our beautiful bride- continues to sparkle. As expected, it has assuredly made it to #11, defying the profit-takers, ignoring the bearish market and overwhelming the fearful. OANDO is well positioned to cross 50 on its way to 100+. Tighten your seat belts!

Interesting fact:
At its closin price of #11 today, OANDO's market cap is only about $144m! The company purchased ConocoPhillips assets in Nigeria for about $1.5b and has now added the NAOC/Agip assets. The problem is that many folks are caught in the dark cloud of the past without looking at the company's future. This is a new era for an improved, refocused and emboldened OANDO!

Some folks still don't get it that Oando has transitioned to an upstream and new energy company. The company sold its gas stations to NNPC and this particular transaction has not reflected in their Financials. When they do, it's natural to see tremendous improvements in their numbers. Same as their supply of electric bases to LASG amongst others

I think a great book is "The little book of value investing" by Christopher H Browne. Basic and enlightening.

On intrinsic value as someone has pointed out, I use the financial metric described here.
https://www.fool.com/terms/i/intrinsic-value/

Predicting the earnings growth rate is its limitation though. It works quite fine when trying to determine how much to pay for stocks. For foreign stocks (on other major exchanges) have many resources such as forecasts by major investment banks, which are very helpful, but some people like to use average growth rate over a number of previous years. The FCF approach is a little complicated as many people who trade stocks don't even know how to or don't care to estimate FCF basically in the first place.

Going through financial statements helps with extracting figures for many of the metrics needed for valuation. That in itself is an informal valuation approach.

I am not coming after you but remember there are certain people who will take your word as the gospel truth considering you are a prophet. That you bought assets at 1.5 billion does not mean they are worth that price . In addition the habit of buying non productive assets at the top of their prices does not make a good decision. You pay for mistakes like that. Imagine buying an asset for 1.5 billion and you are worth 144 million. what does that tell you? . You are suppose to be a top company with top corporate governance but you cannot produce results. You always have to do catch up and "doctor" results to woo undiscerning investors . I am not here to tell anyone what to buy but present a balance argument and always put a caveat . I take God beg you . People made money from Enron so good luck . I will be happy for you if it gets to 50 or 100 as you have stated.

which kind yeye prophet. You see someone way be MH prophet doing serious work to cash out.The only good attached to wale and his fraudulent company now is that he is related to BAT..Still you can't trust anything associated to that family. The judiciary can not be trusted. It is when you get alert without your approval just like the case of adova you go know.Did you not see how he used the judiciary and made his sacking impossible as the ceo of oando. He can always handle the minority shareholders without anything happening.

Please get the guy right.
All what he means by reference to the $1.5billiin and $144m is that Oando share is presently undervalued and that the price is poised to rise further, especially .when the benefits of acquiring ENI (more profits, cost savings due to economies of scale etc) start to trickle in.
Even the ENI shares alone (if it were to be quoted on the NSE) would have its own value. Take note that the acquisition of ENI seems to be by 100 percent cash consideration only, as no mention of merger or exchange or issuance of shares is involved. That is bound to impart on the share value of Oando. .
Anyone is free to either ignore Oando shares because of poor and painful experience of the last ten years (and sentiments against Wale and Bola Tinubu), or look at the current and future financial and economic prospects of the company and make a decision. Investment is all about risk taking based on your knowledge and assessment of your target investment.
