One thing I've come to know about Nigerians is they will always discourage people from joining their line of business or tell you how difficult it to make a living from what they are doing.

Even the ones abroad will always discourage other Nigerians from traveling abroad angry

I no pity you
Dey play
Nobody is discouraging anybody
If u have money come abroad and u will know that seeing is believing by then it would be too late.dem no Dey tell person….
Or Better still put ur car for road for Uber and comeback here and share ur experience

Funny enough, this is where FG could help people. How about if the Ministry of Technology commissioned some tech guys to develop a Nigerian version of Uber that is owned by the government for which drivers pay 5%. The technology is already available. This is how the FG could help Nigerian youth. Besides it helps keep the money in country. Why would Uber take 35%of our local money for what?

No it doesn't work like that, government go later rug am...
And I'm sure there are other Nigerian built private app that charged less than 15%

But I think they also pay taxes... You can't just take 35% without paying tax naw.
Na watin buhari dey drag with Twitter! Facebook and other platform, you can't be making billions in Nigeria and paying tax for US.

Is it not Uber cars we are talking about? Is it not 4 seats?

Nigerians don't like to hear the truth.

No, this is not Uber.
It is one of those private SUV that shuttle between Berger and Lekki.
It has 7 seats , according to the owner.

Bro you think we'll and that's the best thing to do but let me tell you..

Remember these companies pays tax(heavily) to the government and there are people in the same ministry making it big with the tax money of these companies hence they'll readily sabotage every move pointing at your advise.

That's the country we live in.

56k in sales

29k in fuel

25% commission on 56k = 14k commission To be paid by driver to Bolt or Uber, money will remain 42k

Minus fuel money from 42k: 42k - 29k = 13k profit after all expenses.

Your friend made 13k only after all expenses and driving a whole day

You see that 13k wey remain, more than half of it will still go on maintenance at the long run...

To make 56k. That means you have to work Ron 6am to 10pm.

The wear and tear of the car inko. Abi is the car maintenance free?

Oyindamolah:
Is that not profitable? Let assume it 10k, multiple that by 5 that's 50k a week and 200k a month.

just check it out, you make #22k, your own is #550. What if you need to buy brake oil, not even major mentainance, how will you buy bread for your kids, soap 🧼 , car wash but Uber or bolt takes like #6k, you use your own Data. Money for data nko, this is not funny. How will you keep pushing. Better use your car to go and be buying eggs from farms then supplying it to the markets . It's better

look drivers till earn from it big.

I only detected OP is just a failed Uber driver in the past. Trying to discourage inspiring drivers.

Look, I have done that business before. And it was lucrative

The only thing you need is just a good functional car, that’s all.

Uber drivers save 10-25k savings everyday(Minus fuel and feeding money, ie after feeding and buying fuel).

So don’t mind that failed driver. Only the wise and the favored make it from Uber business.

You must be a payed agent of uber or bolt.
Op is actually right. You probably rode with their platform when fuel was selling at 165 naira. Now basically, 85% of the money you make, goes to buying fuel and paying for bolt or uber commission, and these companies make helluva money off drivers. Uber and bolt drivers don't save 10 - 25k daily, that is misinformation, if it's so drivers won't be complaining.

Uber/Bolt drivers are going through a lot now.
Majority are dumping the hustle or doing unethical practices like GOING OFFLINE.

On the N3000 trip, the rider wants AC and tells you to drive through a flooded street.

Many have dumped it for tech. grin

Mhenn... I got the biggest shock of my life! I made 22k within couple of hours...

Excited? Please don't be excited, it was a bad shock!

UBER took 35% of the total money I made and the rest of the money went to fuel (Bought fuel for N617 per litre). I got home on empty tank.

My profit was.... guess?

Five Hundred and Fifty Naira only (N550) cry

UBER drivers, please share your experience.
more time on the job, you'll understand some street doings.
35% of 22k is about 7k. You would have made that up if you tell customers to decline ride.
I can tell you for free Abuja residents are already used to it.
If the customer no decline, you sef no carry am.
Also Night hustle is more profitable but risky if your using Toyota.
Long journey pays a lot too.
There's a pallative option where you can request 50% compensation of a particular ride weekly.
Use it when you go on long trips.
Once in a while, use the app function so they won't lock you out.

Also target long trips as its more economical..
Na newbie dey accept short distance na why you dey hot.

Also timing is a great task and always have your customers number so they can call you for personal hustle.
Airport is most lucrative.

No wonder, the last Uber driver I booked was all full of praise when I dash him #500. The fare range was #3500-#4700. From experience, Uber always bill the highest range. So I was expecting to be charged #4700. Surprisingly, when we got to the drop-off, I was charged #3500 so I gave him #4000 instead.

That's your first attempt.

If you do it for a week, you will learn the tricks of the trade which may include giving customers your number and doing the driving off the control of Uber.
