Alot of consequences are attached to buying land without doing your due diligence, don't just buy Land. Do proper search and verification before payment for land. Those set of people who buy Land without doing verification are dummies worst than omo-onile who sold the land to them.
How do you account for the hard earned money you will eventually loose.
And default in building legislation, contraventions and zonal laws can allow government take prompt actions to demolish your property.

Despite being billionaires they restrict their Nigerian investments mostly to Aba and Abiriba then have outposts in other West African countries not Lagos. Other wealthy Igbos should emulate them to attract less envy and threats.

Lagos state government should demolishe more of thier properties if it will give them sense.. I remember when my shop was demolished by El-rufai. I will never build anything outside my geopolitical zone in Nigeria!!!!
Dangote who has nothing in my geopolitical zone is not stupid so I can't be foolish to build outside my zone!!
Anywhere I go I go they pay rent

Building mansion here mansion there, na wash. I get that sense after doing future calculations, about 3 to 4 years ago.

Nigeria is too small for so many mansions. Moreover, it is a moving goal post country, nothing is clear or make much sense. Not a stable country. Not close to maturity yet.

You're assuming that it was approved in the 1st place. In most cases it isn't. The owners contact shady people without the right information and connections, and do not get proper authorization from the proper authorities. Ideally, in a sane country where government and major developers are the prime drivers of real estate, these issues don't arise, but in Nigeria where most home owners undertake the personal responsibility of overseeing the building of their houses, it's obviously a poorly regulated market where a lot of people take liberties with the law.

there's an agenda against Igbo land owners in Lagos no matter how legit your papers are with the state government, they'll still come for you. Pastor Tunde Bakare was at a meeting where it was discussed and at this rate, there's no need pretending all is well, Igbos should consider their stance in Lagos and start going back home. Even I as an Ijaw man, I've left the place for them and my wife has succeeded with her transfer, I am not going to be among the Rwanda style statistics that is likely going to come up

Also the story making rounds that he was just given 2hrs notice before demolition is a blatant lie, the notice being served by the ministry of Environment and water resources of Lagos state have minimum of 48 hours for occupants to vacate their building before demolishing them.

The landlord was scammed cos he failed to do his due diligence. His money, house and land is gone. Government can spend #1000 to pursue and recover #50. Govt can spend #10 million to demolish #1000 house, if the house is not legit, that's how govt works.
