Finally gotten the chance to give my testimony, I had my twins @ MIHS a boy and a girl, birth certificate, U.S. Passport and Nigerian visa ready on time and we were back to Nigeria just few days short of one month. It's been a busy period running around with my toddler and the twins but I had to squeeze out time to say a big thank you to this forum . Please my friend needs to go too but is scared she will get denied if she applies for visa with doctores para letters, she applied in January with her husband for vacation and they were denied. She is wondering if to apply with her husband and mother now or just her mother. I told her about this forum and she pleaded that I plead with you guys to advice her. Thanks

congrats on the twins....

for your friend, encourage her to read up....to avoid another denial

Thanks to this forum that helped me a lot, I want to share my POE experience.

Am now in New Jersey, flew Lufthansa through abuja on 7th November in my 35 weeks plus 4 days to Germany then Newark final destination. At Abuja airport after my fit to fly was asked, I was made to go to d airport health for my BP and Co. My BP was hi Sha but the doctor concealed it and as me to relax.. As per JJC my blood don hi.. Lol

Flight to Germany was gud but was among d randomly selected for another security check at Germany, dat didn't take up to 10 mins, waited for 5 hrs plus for my connecting flight to Newark.

Got to Newark at 1:45pm, very long que for the Immigration checks but it didn't take up to 15 mins to get to my turn. And it goes

OFFICER- what are u here for
ME- child birth

OFFICER- how long are u staying?

ME- going back January ending

OFFICER- whose paying for bills

ME- my husband

OFFICER- where is he?

ME- Nigeria

OFFICER- so he's sending the money

ME- yes

OFFICER- where are you staying

ME- with a friend she's outside

OFFICER- how much do you have here

ME-1200 dollars, which I made to show him but he said not to worry since it's not up to 10000 dollars

OFFICER- place ur right hand and ur face shld face d camera and enjoy your stay

ME- is dat all?

OFFICER- Yes, do u have luggage? I said yes and he showed me where to go pick my bag.

No single document was asked, no secondary inspection but was at agriculture cos of d indomie and milk I declared. When it was my turn for dem to open my bag, I guess they felt lazy all of a sudden cos de asked is dat all that you have in there? I said yes and they said don't worry ma'am pick ur bag and go. Dat was all ooo... This is what I call favour frm above.
I decided to say the truth and honestly part of me was ready to come back if bounced back.

Aside the workers at d airport, I was d only black face I saw at d POE.. Met with a preggy Mahmah that we boarded same flight frm abuja, she was going to Houston and later chatted me about how she was stressed at d POE and that a woman was turned back to Nigeria as well...

At the end it's God's grace. Thanks every one. Waiting for little one to arrive.

Forgot to mention was stamped in just B2 and nothing else, don't know what that means.

Congrats firstymum on ur safe delivery...God be praised.
Congrats to you Happymum on your beautiful twins!!
All your friend needs to do is read up the thread so she can have a complete picture of what the entire process entails. You didn't state why she and her hubby were denied earlier but I'd advice that all other things being equal, applying with her mum first sounds like a good idea. If they are granted, hubby can then apply and state that he wants to be present at his wife's childbirth. But first, she should put everything together: burden of proof documents, proof of financial solvency, employment/business details, etc. Even though at some point peeps were getting denied based on the Doctores Parati letter, I haven't heard of any recent issues with the letter. Costwe hear it's now signed by the doctor..I stand to be corrected though. The most important thing is that she can show that her bills can be paid and that she'll be coming back home. Let her read the thread to see lots of other pple's visa interview experiences and gather the confidence she'd be needing to do her own interview. All the best to her.

Way to go @nerfititam and @modath for the info shared. And to the website posting mama too. You guys are awesome.

Preggie Friendly POE

Av heard how smooth that POE is though, but I hear it's a small airport and always crowded. So patience is key

Good day everyone,
I'm a new mum-to-be and I'm glad I found this thread cos I've been googling and googling and asking around but I'm still totally confused. I have a US visa, I'm only in my first trimester and I want to have the baby in the US by Gods special grace. I'm starting to asks questions early cos people have different suggestions.
1) is it true that if you can afford it, it's good to go to the US around the 3rd or 4th month, talk to a Doctor, register and make some payments then return around the time of delivery
2) I intend to go to Alaska cos that's where I have someone to stay with , does anyone know anything about Alaska?
3) what is the process of getting the US passport after delivery? I read online that the hospital in Alaska gets the birth certificate ready in 5days. Does the birth certificate come with the social security number or do I need to use the birth certificate to get the social security before I can apply for the passport?
4) I saw their cost of delivery (for non insured) at 2,400 dollars VD. Does this usually include the prenatal fees.

I'm entirely confused. Please help me so I can make plans in time. Thanks a lot

Sorry about your refusal however from your posts, this is your 3rd US refusal.

Have you ever applied thru an agent before? If yes, that is the reason maybe you were misrepresented at some point. If no, then reapply in Abuja, be detailed in your DS 160 form and hope for the best.

Please note I don't believe your lack of travel history is the issue neither you running a fashion store cos I have seen stay at home moms being granted and also virgin passport. My hubby got his on a virgin passport as well

You still have a whole Lotta tym before your travel date. I will advise you read up as much as you can, you can type in whatever you are looking for in the search button and start reading.
1) you don't have to go to US to talk with a doctor prior your intended Time you want to go for delivery. You can search for a doc and do all the talking and exchange of email from naija. If possible get a a breakdown of the cost and carry your cash and burden of proof and travel.
2) you can type in Alaska in the search button an see wat comes up. I don't think much have been said abt Alaska.
3) you apply for birth certificate and SSN same time. Just fill d form given to you in d hospital after delivery. And you will receive SSN and birth certificate separately, you may Hv to pick up birth certificate but SSN will be mailed to you.
4) it's good you v made enquiries abt the hospital, it usually doesn't include prenatal visits with a doc, epidural, and the rest but you can call the hospital to verify.

Make i answer the ones wey I fit.

1. Will be perfect if you can afford it. Makes it a well planned journey
2. The only thing I know about alaska is the extreme weather cheesy
3. For alaska, dunno the process but where I birthed, a social worker brings the form to you after birth to fill, have ready your baby's names. Birth certificate is ready at the County 2 days later, SSN comes in 8 days later via post.
4. Nope the prenatal fees depends on the doctor you use only if the hospital provide in house doctors. Most hospital don't though so you have to source for your doctor that is affiliated to the hospital you wanna birth in.

Advise: read up for better clarity.

Nigeria passport cannot be done by proxy. You/baby have to be there in person. Whereas, the visa can be done by proxy. And those 3 states you listed are where we have naija consulate so if one is not in those states, then the visa is your sure bet.

Visa is more expensive than the passport though.

Thank you so much for your advice, God bless you.
You said it's better to go ahead of time if I can afford it. What do I tell them? Should I tell them I'm a foreigner who what's to come back to have a baby or should I just act like I'm doing prenatal and I'm around until I give birth ? Cos paying for prenatal sounds like I want to stay for it but I don't intend to stay(should I tell them I don't intend to stay?)
What's the other alternative to going for prenatal? Should I just contact them through email?
I can't find anything to read up so I'm highly confused.
Furthermore, a baby with US passport, how will you bring him/her back to Nigeria? Do you need to get a Nigerian visa or passport or can the baby travel on your own passport?
