Hello house, this has been an informative forum. I plan to be in Houston come next month but am confused on the accommodation options available especially ones close to Oakbend Medical center. I prefer the ones that can offer feeding, transport and nanny services.
This is my first time over there and will really appreciate responses from people experience, thanks

I need your advice guys I applied for F1 visa last month but was denied the VO did not ask anything about my intended purpose this time all he pulled out was 2 years ago information as to why I didn't inform the VO that interviewed me that I will be having a baby in the US. We applied as a family then myself husband and son and it was a smooth interview cos we said we were going for vacation and other information asked was provided but nothing asked about childbirth and so we didnt inform them about it.however we traveled and had a baby. Again before the visa expired we travled again for vacation spent 3 weeks no issues at POE theofficer only checked my receip for1 child birth for my 1st visit During the F1 interview he asked what we went to do in the US I told him the truth vacation and delivery eventhough we have all renewed our visas without issues. So he concluded I wasnth honest then and denied me on section 214b. Now I intend to travel again sometimes next year for another delivery. What do you bus advice I can do. I still have my valid B1B2 visa which we just renewed.
Do u have a problemv I think not
Do u have a valid visa? Yes
Is it illegal to birth in the US? No
What was their problem with u? U did not notify them of your intention.
So send them an email doing so. U can search the thread for notification of intent email

5 weeks. Others have done it for younger and older.

Great! That even supports my argument. Why should anyone pay $600 when you can pay N2000 for the same service?

My dear...If not that I got the service free of charge, I would have come back to nigeria to do the circumcision o!

It is way too expensive, but I guess it won't matter to most of his regular patients. They have insurance and won't have to pay out of pocket like we would.

Hello house, i think i'm not jjc here on this thread but before over sabi finish me, make i present my case before the gurus.... Interview date is close but suntin still dey fear me
I filled on my DS 160 form dt i'll be staying with a family friend in Arlington, Texas. He has even sent me invitation letter sef. It was later i got to know that hospitals nd docs there dnt give correspondence so i contacted the ones in Houston and i got both from the hospital and Dr.
Now my confusion is- what if the VO ask me why i'm showing correspondence from Houston wen i intend living in Arlington... Wetin i go talk? Arlington to Houston is abt 3Hrs....wont i come off as mumu wanting to birth in a place dts 3hrs frm wia i stay?

Pls note that all these are for visa purpose, my final destination is chicago.

Hi twingirls,

Praise God for your safe arrival.

I would like information regarding soulcare and wont mind if I could contact you.

Please let me know what works for you.

Thank you!

twingirls:
Kudos to those posting their POE stories as soon as porting. Been jetlagged, sleeping like a pregnant woman grin and shopping away.

I flew BA with a nairalander, a planned journey but it was worth it. Was at travelex d previous day and was told I cld only get PTA wt my burden pass.

Got to d airport early, went straight to travelex wt my cash only to be told they don't av dollars. But was advised to check back in 2 hours but with no promise.
Went to check in my luggage, fit to fly was asked, I went to port health where I got one, though backdated to 32 weeks.

Went back to travelex and eventually got 3k, after divine intervention (pls shine ur eyes and never sign wout reading what ure to sign)

BA flight was good and half filled up, got a window seat. And was able to lay on three seats and relax. The only but was that I was starved, crap food but I ate cos I was really famished.

Got a wheelchair at Houston and was wheeled to d CBP, about 5 pple ahead of me on d que, and it was finally my turn.

CBP- what are you here for?
ME- childbirth
CBP- for how long?
ME- 2 months
CBP-Any family in Houston?
ME- No
CBP- how much do you have?
ME- 3,000 cash and over 3m in my accounts and I av the card
CBP- you wil have to go for secondary inspection so your data could be entered

Was wheeled for d second inspection wt my nairalander partner, we have the same accomodation, same doctors correspondence.
We waited for about 5 minutes and my name was called, I was actually surprised cos we met lots of people inside

CBP- why are you here
Me- childbirth
CBP- do you have doctors correspondence?
Me- Yes
Glanced at it,
CBP- how much do you have?
ME- 3, 000 cash and 3 million in
CBP (interupted) how much do you have in total for the childbirth purpose
ME- over 16000 dollar
CBP- keep ur receipt, do not accept medicaid bla bla bla
( nothing was checked apart from docs correspondence).

Waited for some minutes outside d office for my now turned sister nairalander friend, we were botth wheeled for our bags, no question was asked and nothing checked

Waited a while for soulcare driver, we were driven straight to dia restaurant where we were treated to a free hot plate of pounded yam and rich egusi soup! Never felt so satisfied with ameal, after such punishment from BA food.

Already enjoying my stay and yet to have a boring minute, met so many new mums and Nigeria preggos already. Now waiting for my docs appointment.

All glory to God for the favour galore.

House O! Something pass my power and need advice. My in law that gave birth at oakbend richmomd just called now. She was in excruciating and terrible pain on Monday and went to the hospital thinking it was labour but it was false. They did a scan to see the baby's neck was tired with the cord....in the pain, they brought a bunch of papers saying she needed to sign b4 the cs will be done. The story now is, they brought her baby back after a few hours today congratulating her that the baby passed his hearing test which unknown to her was part of what was given to her to sign. Eventhough she has called for everything she signed before they will perform every test on the baby. What options does she have? Call a lawyer and sue? I think she was misled by oakbend

You wanna sue the hospital for hearing test which was administered to the child? ......

Or that they performed a test which you explicitly requested not to be done?...

I don't get it

The 2nd is more like it. U were given some docs to sign when you were in duress, Then after the cs you start running some tests without verbal consent...So my own now is, is that wise on the part of the hospital and/or were they just trying to play a smart one to get more money off their patient. Except you saying hearing test is mandatory in Texas?

I don't seem to understand what you are saying. Do you mean they ran some tests on the baby? Test for mother and baby is compulsory in Oakbend. Is that the test you are talking about? And since it's emergency CS, dey may even require to do extensive tests on the baby. Get the gist well from the mum cos I don't Gerrit.

How much is the hearing test, and how much do you think the lawyer will charge to take on this case....?

The truth of the matter is she signed the docs and I'm sure the nurse explained what she was signing b4 she gave her the docs to sign. Her best bet should be diplomacy, explain to the hospital management that she was beclouded by the pain and didn't intend to sign for hearing test and negotiate a discount

@jacksparow,

There is a clause when you register with the hospital that in case of emergency, they should do everything to save your life and that of the baby! She signed off that during registration, I'm sure she did not read before signing.

Besides, those tests were done to save her life and the baby and not for luxury! Let's not do penny wise, pound foolish here.

Hello Teehey, CHYG used oakwood Annapolis hospital now known as Beaumont Wayne Hospital and I intend using same soon. Just log on to their site and u will see the cost for self pay. They don't send emails out cos I have tried to plead with them. For the doctor, search for Dr Anthony Udo-inyang. He is a Nigerian and his prices are more than fair. When are u leaving?

U are Right, After using her first B1/B2 Visa for childbirth, she has renewed her B1/B2 visa recently. The problem is that she also wants an F1 US visa(Student Visa) But was denied. May be she also wants to study in the US notwithstanding that she already have B1/B2 valid visa in her passport which is not meant for studying in the USA. so she wants to know the implication of her using her valid B1/B2 visa for child birth next year. In my own opinion i dont think she will have any problem next year when going for another childbirth since her current Visa covers for child birth. Just Notify the Embassy of your change of plan, arm yourself with necessary documents including the receipts for your past baby delivery and Have a good cash at hand, then u are good to go. They felt that u have another thing in mind and only want u to continue with the B1/B2 visa u have..
LadyGuinivere:

Do u have a problemv I think not
Do u have a valid visa? Yes
Is it illegal to birth in the US? No
What was their problem with u? U did not notify them of your intention.
So send them an email doing so. U can search the thread for notification of intent email
